Safer Schools Amy Webber is an ex KES Academy student who left in 2015. In 2013 Amy joined the Volunteer Police
Cadets in Kings Lynn. Since joining Amy has been one of the most enthusiastic cadets and is currently the
"Lead Cadet".
Being a member of the cadets has given Amy a confidence and belief and has been a valuable experience
for her. She will be sorely missed as she leaves the cadets soon due to the age restrictions of the cadets.
However, she has an application submitted to join the Special Constabulary and hopes one day to be a full
time Police Officer.
On Thursday 6th October in Norwich, Norfolk Constabulary hosted their annual "Norfolk Safer Community Awards" NOSCA's. Out of the all the volunteer police cadets in the county Amy was shortlisted to the final three for Cadet of the Year. Both myself and the Sgt who supported the nomination, from his involvement with the cadets, felt she was worthy of our nomination of her.
Although she didn't end up winning the overall award she did incredibly well to make it to the final three. She was rewarded with a framed certificate and all three finalists have been given a days "Behind the scenes" VIP day at RAF Marham.
A really pleasing story from a previous KESA student.

Fergus Martin Lewis, Ethan Brown and Ayden Turner – well done boys and keep up the hard work, your
tutors were very proud of you.

they have until next Friday to buy a ticket. Any proceeds from this will be used to fund an end of term

Year 10 – Mr Waring
Attendance for our year group went up last week to 94.2 so thank you for all your efforts with that. However, at the end of September, I am currently waiting for some 36 students to bring in notes for absences. If you think your son or daughter is one of them, please send the note in or it will become an unauthorised absence. And the form class with the best attendance figure last week goes to 10A with a figure of 97% so well done to all students in that class Year 10 student behaviour on the whole is awesome with lots of positive stories being shared. However, there are a small handful of students that are on report cards for poor behaviour and these will be shared with parents. I have also implemented a Round Robin system whereby, a request is sent out to staff asking how a student is doing in class with behaviour, attitude to learning and general wellbeing in lessons. These, alongside academic reports, give us a holistic view of school life for the child and form the basis of discussion with parents when needed. So I am hopeful, that working in partnership with parents, a supportive package can be agreed upon that will help students achieve to the best of their ability.
I am very pleased to report that Titas Jodokas, a student who only started at KES two weeks ago and came to us directly from Lithuania not speaking any English, has come out as top vivo achiever for last week, earning 50 points so very well done Titas.
Year 11 - Mr Ibbitson (standing in for Mrs Wright)
I am pleased to report that Year 11 students continue to rise to the challenge in their final year and are
making steady academic progress. There is plenty of work ahead and before you know it there will
important assessments to be done. It is therefore crucial that School and Home, over the coming weeks
and months, work together to encourage and support the students so they can fulfil their potential. I, for
one, stand ready to help.
I have the following report from Mr McNeil regarding sporting successes. Mr McNeil reports the following,
“Y11 Basketball lads had 2 wins v Marshland and KLA. Boys did very well. Also, the Y11 football team lost in the first round of the national cup - I was very proud of their performance and attitude - sometimes
you win, sometimes you learn. Boys gave 100% and that’s all you can ask.
Y11 rugby squad came from 12-5 behind to beat Dereham 35-22 in the County Cup. Mr Denton said the
lads were excellent, especially in the second half!
Well done to Mr McNeil’s GCSE PE group - really impressive start to Y11 with lots of excellent work
produced and looking forward to some excellent video presentations, after 'No pen day' this week!”. My thanks for Mr McNeil and to the Sports Department as a whole for all the support you give to the
students.
Monday is Curriculum Day – a full day of targeted intervention across a range of subjects. This will be a
very productive day and is designed to maximise support to Year 11.
Below are the vivo awards over the last week – well done. I cannot help notice the boys are rather absent
– come on boys!
