Camera techniques At Fancom we believe as the demand for meat
increases by more than 40% in the next 40 years,
intensifi cation is the only viable option. Satisfying
the demand of over 9 billion people will increase
the worldwide number of livestock and scale
of farms they are raised on. As the scale and
complexity increases this forces us to look at new
techniques to provide the answers.

Dear Colleague,
We are pleased to welcome you to Leuven in Flanders for the 6th EC-PLF Conference 2013.
Leuven is a small city where KU Leuven was founded in 1425 and has developed into the real “student city” with over 40,000 university students that you see today. As I am sure you will discover, Leuven has some beautiful areas in the city centre and a long history of hospitality towards visitors.
This programme guide will help you to find the time and location of all the presentations, poster session, rooms, meetings, catering, social programme and events during the EC PLF 2013 conference.
We hope that you will enjoy the conference, which has been created for you and by you as a participant. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you experience problems or have any questions.
With warm regards,
Daniel
Prof. D. Berckmans

•MeetingpointintheProvincialHouse:Registrationdeskat12:00•Transport:bybus•Thevisitstartsat:13:30andendsat15:30•BackinLeuvenaround17:00
The PALM brewery is a tourist hot spot that welcomes 30,000 visitors a year. The combination of an instructive guided tour of the brewery and a visit to the famous Brabant draught horses at Diepensteyn Stud Farm is always a success. The draught horse in the brewery’s logo underscores the “roots” and the authenticity of PALM. Due to industrialisation this sturdy horse lost its economic significance and was even threatened with extinction. For this reason PALM supports this unique example of protected living cultural heritage and attempts to assign a new recreational role to the draught horse through various initiatives.

Directions
From/To Brussels National Airport (Zaventem)
By Train
NOTE: Make sure you take the train to Leuven and not Louvain-la-Neuve: while the French name for Leuven is indeed Louvain, Louvain-la-Neuve is a different place.
The easiest and quickest way to get to Leuven after arriving at Brussels National Airport is by train. At the airport, follow the train signs to get to the train station underneath the airport. Ask for a one way ticket to Leuven (which costs € 8.10). The trip lasts about 15 minutes.
The train leaves every 30 mins (from 07:00 a.m.to 07:00 p.m.). From Leuven at 07 minutes and 29 minutes past the hour and from the airport at 18 minutes and 39 minutes past the hour.
The train schedule is subject to change, so for more information, look at the timetable http://www.belgianrail.be/
From Brussels Midi Train Station (Brussels Zuid)
If you arrive in Belgium by train, your most probable end station will be Brussels South (also called Bruxelles Midi or Brussel Zuid). Go to the main hall and head to the ticket area. You can buy a ticket to Leuven (or Louvain in French, but be careful: Louvain is a different place from Louvain-La-Neuve) for € 5.20. Ask for the next fast (direct) train to Leuven. The trip lasts about 30 minutes. If you arrive at one of the other two train stations in Brussels (Centraal/Central or Noord/Nord) you can do exactly the same. Head to the ticket area, buy your ticket and ask for a direct train to Leuven. All trains pass through all three Brussels train stations. Timetable for trains: http://www.belgianrail.be/
By Taxi (From Leuven to Brussels)
The ride by taxi from Leuven to the National airport is approximately € 60 (driver + 4 people).
