The growth of the Internet during the 1990s drastically changed the speed of information transmission worldwide. However, IT and analog processes continue to be used together when it comes to specific services that demand security, such as fund transfers and the settlement and approval of important contracts and agreements. Although the rise of the Internet has been deemed another industrial revolution, its uses are limited. It is far too lacking in terms of the security and systems required to cover all the infrastructure we need in our lives. Blockchain technology demonstrates attractive characteristics of being unalterable, where new blocks of data are accessible however immutable, and effective where transactions are agreed by 50% or more of the active network. Blockchain has great potential to enable the exchange of important and highly confidential information while maintaining a level of security that was previously not possible with the Internet alone.

JUNKET Chain (JKC) aims to be a lead intermediary between the casino industry and global cryptocurrencies by combining traditional junket best practices with fintech blockchain.

We are developing a secure platform in order to overcome currency limitations that wealthy casino players and cryptocurrency holders potentially face when traveling between countries. JUNKET Chain uses optimized products and processes building on our long-time junket experience and best practices to deliver a secure a reliable structured system.

The “Act on Promoting of Development of Areas Specified Integrated Resort Facilities” (Tokutei Fukugo Kanko Shisetsukuiki no Seibi no Suishin ni Kansuru Houritsu) also called the “IR Promotion Act,” was recently established in Japan in July 2018. Now that the Japanese government has approved legislation to legalise casinos in an effort that will promote tourism, it is bringing a greater focus on casinos and gaming-related businesses.

Our sister company, Nine & Nine Pictures, was the first in Japan to operate a junket business connecting, clients to partner casinos, and have established themselves as a firm leader in this industry since 2007. Since our founding in Japan, we have continued to manage package trips for wealthy players to luxury casinos in Macao, Las Vegas, the Philippines, and on cruise ships. We also provide various other services VIP players wish for on site, and have earned continuing patronage of many customers. We are proud to have already established our position as a leader in the junket business, and since we forsee the potential for cryptocurrency in reforming transactions systems across the world it is our objective to grow our business even further by providing new value through our latest junket service in the form of a “junket solution.” The junket service provides an integrated service solution for wealthy VIP casino players, coordinating hotel rooms and transfers, casino chip preparation to VIP room reservation, flight reservations, dining requirements and other leisure arrangements. It allows the customer to entrust their needs to the junket operators, having registered their details with them as part of their identity verification process.

Fuelled by increasing demand, our aim is to enhance our service by 2019 by integrating FinTech blockchain to improve security and transparency in payments.

Our finance structurers, casino and investment specialists have developed JUNKET Chain as a casino solution using a platform that operates based on Blockchain It was designed to increase support of virtual currencies within the entertainment industry, allowing the pre-purchase of digital tokens used exclusively in our partner casinos. Virtual currencies such as Bitcoin keep a permanent, distributed cryptographic record of all digital buy and sell transactions, providing a safe a secure method of transacting.

Our strategy incorporates two types of tokens, each with a completely different role from the other. “JUNKET Chain” consists of tokens issued to investors during the ICO. We will launch the ICO out of the Netherlands, compliant with relevant legislation. The other type of digital token is the “JUNKET Chip.” VIP players face the risk of constantly carrying around large sums of cash, as well as limitations on bringing cash into other countries. With JUNKET Chips, players can prepare the amounts they need for casino managers without having to deal with cash or ATM withdrawal restrictions.

Partnering with our affiliate, Japan’s only casino promotion and junket company Nine & Nine Pictures, we believe the new casino solution we are providing will bring about evolution in the industry through the fusion of casinos and cryptocurrency.

Sales trends in the global casino and gaming market provide us with vast information to forecast growth and popularity in the industry.

The global casino business has sustained continuous growth in recent years despite facing several economic crises. Economic recession and decline in consumer spending caused spiraling revenues in 2009, which rebounded in 2013. Thanks to the good fortune of countries continuing to legalise casinos, the industry is now regaining vigor, adding value to the entertainment industry whilst boosting tourism.　

Development in the Asia-Pacific region continues to advance favorably, with Japan now poised to offer casino operators huge expansion opportunities, and Macau, which currently boasts the highest sales in the casino market worldwide, continuing to experience steady growth. In Singapore, large Integrated Resorts (IRs) opened one after another in 2010 since legalization of casinos there in 2005 any tourists are now visiting their composite facilities that include casinos which by 2013 had already become the most profitable in the world. On a global scale, the casino market grew from 117.5 billion USD in 2010 to 180 billion USD in 2015, and is predicted to reach around 300 billion USD by 2020.

2-2. Cryptocurrency Market:

The cryptocurrency market went through a slump and looked uncertain for some time after the onset of Mt. Gox bankruptcy proceedings in 2014, but generally a positive sentiment prevailed with various cryptocurrencies like BTC, EOS, ERC, and XRP being traded in exchanges worldwide. The cryptocurrency market is now steadying and gaining composure, and would have been further strengthened by recent news that creditors to assets lost in Mount Gox would receive them back to them by virtue of a civil rehabilitation order halting bankruptcy proceedings .

One trend gaining attention in this context is Initial Coin Offering (ICO), a kind of cryptocurrency fundrasing. With the spread of cryptocurrencies and develpment of technology, investors are becoming interested in ICO as a new investment market.

Looking at the changes in ICO fundraising from 2014 to October 2017, we can see that a total of 30 million USD in funds raised in September 2014 has grown to a total of 20 billion USD as of the end of July 2018.*3

4. About tokensWe are planning to issue two types of tokens: JUNKET Chains and JUNKET Chips. Each of these is for a completely different purpose.

50% of JUNKET Chains will be deposited to casino managers. We plan to allocate 1.1-1.8% to profit sharing, which will be distributed in Ethereum.

5. JUNKET Chain (JKT)JUNKET Chain has selected to initially adopt ERC-20 on the platform. Essentially, this significant decision was based on network effects and features, further to extensive research on the adoption of other more functional and higher spec standards. However, in our JUNKET Chain, “drawer” “deposit” and “trading” at the exchange, in other words, , We have concluded that it is impossible to implement functions other than currency by the time of ICO execution since it is our intention that solutions using functions other than currency of the blockchain do not come out at this time. A metaphor begins, “The price is not a thing which is priceless in the euramarium base.”

The JUNKET Chain business model generates revenue by paying back a portion of players’ rolling totals to licensed junket operators in the form of proportionate commissions. This revenue production is guaranteed by the participation of junket operators, where percentages have already been agreed with them. Our further intention is development of a secure and fair profit distribution system that it is difficult for a third party to control, using blockchain methodology to ensure transparency. Despite extensive internal discussions we have not yet decided on “how to use a blockchain structure to build a fair profit distribution system”.

JUNKET CHAIN DEPOSIT

Our decision to go to ICO at this stage is in order to secure operating funds that can be deposited with casino operators for financing. We will periodically deposit the collected funds with the casino operator, where deposits are directly proportionate to gaming demand. Our agenda is to construct a highly transparent system with fair profit distribution.

Token generation and implementation of ICO (token distribution) will be in ERC-20 form for token creation and distribution because of its reputation of being globally the most stable platform. In the future should we observe that another platform provides suitable features there is plenty of potential for migration to other platforms.

Platforms such as EOS can sustain hundreds of thousands of transactions per day, and as such in the case where the transaction fee is also free and where EOS seems to be compatible, we will migrate to EOS. As one possibility, there is also a debate that it is better to use a tangle technology rather than a blockchain, in this case, IOTA standards are adopted and IOTA Inspire is also developing its own system.

Revenues from the casino operator can be distributed as dividends to investors as mentioned above, where dividend amount is calculated based on JUNKET Chain’s holding number. Some will purchase tokens that are on the market, reduce the absolute amount of distribution, and will be used to implement Burns thereby increasing the relative value of JUNKET Chain.

We do plan to publicly list JUNKET Chain on a cryptocurrency exchange in the future, and this is expected to happen in Q2 of 2019.

6. JUNKET ChipFor our VIP player customers, the restrictions various countries place on bringing cash into their borders can be a bottleneck to casino enjoyment. Amounts of 10,000 USD or over must be declared in the Philippines, and 20,000 SDG or over must be declared in Singapore. Hong Kong and Macao had no restrictions on cash until now, but Hong Kong started restricting amounts of 12,000 HKD and over on July 12, 2018, and Macao started restricting amounts of 12,000 pataca and over on November 1, 2017.

We promise that JUNKET Chip will be extremely convenient for all VIP players wanting to freely enjoy casinos all over the world.

JUNKET Chips will be available in the form of an exclusive app designed mainly for smartphone use. Previously purchased *1 JUNKET Chips kept in the user’s JUNKET Chip wallet can be easily exchanged directly for casino chips, anytime, anywhere. (See figure). Newly acquired casino chips can also be either 1) returned to the wallet for safe keeping by us, or 2) directly exchanged for local currency at the cage.*2

JUNKET Chips do not use a cryptocurrency system. Casino chip exchanges are the core value of the junket service we provide, and we must achieve high security and convenience for the sake of our customers and casino managers. If we made JUNKET Chips into cryptocurrency using Blockchain, a transaction would occur whenever a customer exchanged JUNKET Chips for casino chips. With cryptocurrencies like Ethereum, fees are charged every time a transaction occurs. These fees are not set, but constantly fluctuate based on the highly variable cryptocurrency market price. A Blockchain system would also increase the risk of hacking and theft by third parties. These things must be avoided.

In consideration of security and exchange fee issues, we have decided not to use cryptocurrency for our JUNKET Chips, but rather to create a managed fair exchange system (exclusive app). With JUNKET Chain, the equivalent amount of the exchange fee is allocated from the deposit distributed to the casino manager, thereby eliminating the exchange fee. We consider it our junket mission to give customers a stress-free casino chip exchange system they can use without worrying about exchange fees.

Differentiating between JUNKET Chain and JUNKET Chip

Essentially, the reason why we have not structured linkage between the two tokens of JUNKET Chain and JUNKET Chip is clear. JUNKET Chip is fixed with the equivalent exchange (1USD) with the fiat currency USD, JUNKET Chain will fluctuate the market price.

For example, suppose you purchase 20 JUNKET Chain. At this time the rate of 1 JUNKET Chain is 1 USD which means 1 JUNKET Chip. If you change these 20 JUNKET Chain to JUNKET Chips at the future assumed rate of 10 times of purchase rate, 200 JUNKET Chip can be purchased with 100% exchange rate without additional fees charged. As an administrator, it is purely speculative to grow value of funds by up to 10 times. However, if you go use major cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoins, that are on the market, the administrator can purchase major cryptocurrency each time, and it can likely ensure the reflection of each time value. If an equivalent exchange type token and a value change type token are to be made interchangeable by the same organization at any time, it becomes impossible to secure the value. With for our token we does not expose ourselves to such risk, and as such we treat the two tokens as completely different mechanisms.

If the method of determining this investment amount and the method of calculating the total rolling amount are based on conventional centralized functions, it would inadvertently contradict the thought and philosophy of democratic and neoliberalistic determinants who have supported ICOs in recent years. Due to the aforesaid, we cannot initially build the decentralized mechanism.

A rolling amount of JUNKET Chip will lead to operation of JUNKET Chain as it is. JUNKET Chain’s rolling amount is calculated in a fair and transparent way, and excludes the possibility of receiving arbitrary operation by a third party, where we can release and publish to those requiring such information, and are likely to be JUNKET Chain holders.

So we decided to organise a contest. We will grant 2% of JUNKET Chain’s total issuance fee and 10 BTC to those who could devise the above mechanism. There is no particular time limit. Implementation will be made public on the Web for fairness.

We will issue a maximum of 20 billion JUNKET Chains, which will be allocated as follows.

25% of the total will be released to the trading market. The remaining 75% will be retained for our company and affiliated stakeholders. A portion of the real profit will be allocated to purchase JUNKET Chain circulating in the market. The first burn will be conducted three months after the launch, with more burns conducted at regular intervals afterwards. In this way, the amount of JUNKET Chain circulating in the market will continue to decrease. Since the value of one JUNKET Chain unit depends on supply volume, this strategy is an important component in maintaining JUNKET Chain value.

9. Allocation

Wallets are used in the cryptocurrency market, but since our JUNKET Chains and JUNKET Chips are divided into ERC20 and an app according to their design, there will be no integrated wallet at first. If Blockchain technology becomes more transparent and concern about vulnerabilities lessens, we do plan to integrate in the future and are making preparations so users will be able to manage both currencies from the same wallet.

10. Wallet

• Expanding JUNKET Chain availability to other regionsWe will start by making JUNKET Chain and JUNKET Chips available in four regions (and casinos): Macao, the Philippines, South Korea, and Cambodia. We will focus especially on Macao-based businesses. Our first step will be to achieve sound results and build trust in these four countries from 2018 to 2019. After that, we plan to expand availability to Singapore, Australia, and the US.

• Addiction countermeasures and AIWe consider it part of our junket mission to contribute to society by combating pathological gambling addiction.

We aim to build a system through which we can detect behavior patterns that indicate addiction and warn users and other concerned parties. This system is a combination of the DSM-5, the manual most used in Japan to diagnose gambling addiction and other mental illnesses; the “SOGS” test developed by the American organization South Oaks, which has a history of effectively treating gambling addiction; and the “GA 20 questions” developed by the self-help group Gamblers Anonymous (GA) organized by gambling addicts themselves, as well as addicts’ answers to those questions and data on their behavioral patterns. We hope to analyze addiction progression patterns based on all this data and create a system that will detect and notify users of suspicious patterns in their JUNKET Chip use history. We are planning to develop an AI for this purpose. However, we need to acquire a certain number of users and establish a testing period in order to build these detection systems. We are preparing to increase our number of users from 1,000 to 10,000 in 2019, and to start testing in 2020.

Although gambling addiction is a mental disorder, it cannot be called a disease because brain lesions cannot be confirmed as its cause. Drug therapy has also not proven effective in treating gambling addiction. That is why it must be treated with psychotherapy. The above-mentioned GA also has over 150 groups in Japan, where addicts gather voluntarily to support each other.

We will also cooperate with NPOs that support addicts to provide the direct help of supporters and counselors. We believe we can develop these addiction countermeasures in the same way as the casino and junket business in Japan.

• Developing the junket business in JapanJapan is one of our main bases, and the ban on casinos will be lifted there in 2020 with the enactment of the IR Promotion Act. This will create a strong widespread demand for IR businesses. However, there is a discrepancy between the “uniquely Japanese casinos” we envision at JK Solutions and the casinos the Japanese government wants to promote. The Japanese government is promoting typical casinos like the ones in Macao, Las Vegas, and Singapore. However, foreigners want IR facilities with casinos where they can have uniquely Japanese experiences. Perhaps this is a new reality known only to us at JKT Solutions Limited, with our extensive overseas networks and junket experience.

A casino where customers can have “uniquely Japanese experiences” available “only in Japan” would be an IR facility that revives popular Japanese gambling games, recreates gambling parlors with tatami mats instead of tables, and maintains a Japanese concept while using the latest technology so guests can comfortably enjoy games and modern Japonism. What customers want is not attention-seeking eccentricity, but Japanese style casinos that combine technology with the Japanese aesthetic.
