www.artshell.org 07868206627 Attached The manner in which an artist hangs or places their work in a space is usually a behind the scenes concern, one only for the artist or curator. In those last few days before the work is made public, blood, sweat and tears may be staining the whitewashed walls, as artist/curator frustratedly fusses with fixtures and fittings. ʻAttachedʼ sees the way the work is secured become the focus of the work itself and aims to create an honest experience for both artist and passerby by using the simplest of attachment methods. ʻAttachedʼ proposes arming artists with a packet of cable ties to couple artwork/s with the city. These may take the form of interventions, performances, sculptures or 2d work that relate to the environment they are sited in, consider the things they are attached to or even centre around the ties themselves. Priority is given to artists creating new work specifically for the festival, but existing work would be considered if it sufficiently matches the brief. Artshell is a new curatorial project that facilitates pop-up shows in temporary and alternative spaces and invites artists to respond directly to those spaces.
