WEEK 5 - WRITE AWAY

During Terms 2, a weekly writing stimulus, based on the Seven Steps to Writing Program, will be placed in the newsletter for students. Students from all grades are welcome to create a written response to the prompt. Their response only needs to be brief (no more than half to one page in length), we are encouraging quality, not quantity writing. There will be a box placed outside 3M (Room 24) for students to put their pieces of writing in by the Friday afternoon. Two or three awards for composition, creativity and encouragement, will be handed out the next Monday morning at morning assembly. Students are encouraged to use this opportunity to write for fun and to show their wonderful and creative ideas. This week our Write Away task is to write a piece of dialogue between two characters, that reflects their situation. Choose from one the two situations below: Situation 1 Michael and Lucy quickly scampered through the long grass to the top of the hill. Looking down at the sight below them, Lucy whispered, “Oh no, this is not good. Not good at all…”

Situation 2 Mum’s favourite vase has just shattered all over the floor when you and your brother were playing football inside. You hear her car pull into the driveway…

MORE GREAT NETBALL NEWS! Our school netball team has had a very busy couple of weeks! We played our next round PSSA game against Queanbeyan West and were winners 44 -1. The team then played in the Netball NSW Schools Cup on Thursday 24th May and we were undefeated all day (with only 2 goals scored against us for the day!). We will now play in the Phase 2 of this event in August and hope for more great performances. We are also very proud of our four school netballers, Lara McGilvray, Nikki McGilvray, Emily Steen & Natalie Pearson, who travelled to Wollongong for the final round of trials for the South Coast Region Representative team. The girls all played outstanding netball and the great news is Nikki McGilvray was selected into the team of 10 and Emily Steen was selected as one of the four shadow players. Great work girls!

Congratulations to our 4 district netball representatives and especially to Nikki McGilvray who has made the Regional team to play in the State championships.

Well done to all!

PREMIER'S READING CHALLENGE The challenge is on again this year and I am starting to receive some completed challenges. Congratulations to KR who are the first class this year to hand in their completed challenge sheet. I hope to get many more in the near future. Also a big congratulations to Alexandria Noonan from 6B. She has completed the challenge this year, which means she has completed the challenge every year from Kinder to Year 6. At the end of the year she will receive her Platinum Award for seven years completion. Katie Zheng of 3F has also completed the challenge this year. Katie completed her challenge online, which was then sent to the school to authorise. This is a way that Years 3-6 can complete the challenge; however if you do, don't forget to come and let Mrs Harradence know you have completed it so she knows to put your name in the newsletter. Keep up the great reading everyone!

As a Stall Convenor you are responsible for: • Recruiting helpers • Arrange or source items for the stall • Operate within an allocated budget • Communicate with the Fete Coordinator/ Committee • Notify the Fete Coordinator/Committee of equipment required • Organise and set up the stall

The Fete Committee will ensure that you are supported and given all the information and help you need. Interested but don’t want to take on the job on your own? Grab a friend and run it together! Or perhaps you have a new idea for a stall, one we haven’t had before. Run your idea by us, we would love to hear from you.
