Altar Society Member Drive

A Note From Your Pastor: All year long many parishioners serve us as deacons, altar servers, lectors, ushers, sacristans, Eucharistic ministers, musicians and as liturgical environment members. They make it possible for us to pray and worship in a setting which helps us to raise our minds and hearts to God. I wish to thank them on behalf of all of us for the many things they do make our liturgies prayerful and beautiful. This year I wish to point to one of these parishioners with a special thank you. Each year for 40 years Arden Chap-pel has set up the Nativity scene for us. It has not been a task but a labor of love. This is Arden’s last year as the person in charge of this special project. Beginning next year it will be passed to another…. but still in the family……. because his grandson will have the honors. Thanks to Arden for the care and love he has always shown in setting up the manger scene. It is people like Arden who make St. Thomas More such a won-derful parish.

As we begin 2017 let us pray that this New Year may be a time of grace and peace for us and for all who seek the Living God. Sincerely in Christ, Msgr. Pearson

Life and Family Issues: Every marriage matters, because every marriage comes from the hand of God. God brings a man and a woman together to love and

support each other. Their love becomes visible in their treatment of each other and in their acts of generous service.

MARRIAGE TIP: What wives/husbands like to hear: “Let me help you with that.” “I’m so glad I married you.” “I love the way you look.” “You’re an awesome husband/wife and mother/father.” “Sounds like you had an exasperating day.” “You are right (and I am wrong).” What could you say today?

It’s not like a cabinet that you put over there, in a room, and dust it every now and then. It’s a living plant, it has to be taken care of every day”. “The church sees in the family the icon of God’s alliance with the en-tire human family.” “Let us learn, therefore, not to resign ourselves to human failure, but rather to support the redemption of the creative plan (of God).”

Intention Book There is a new book in the church vestibule to list your prayer inten-tions. Simply write your intentions in the book and we will pray for

them at all our Masses.

Family Holy Hour, Tuesdays, 7:00 PM, STM Chapel You are invited to join us in praying for ourselves, our families, or

friends. We pray the Rosary, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, and Eucharis-tic songs before the Blessed Sacrament for all prayer petitions people

have requested in our prayer petition book, the parish prayer chains, or those that are placed in the Tuesday night prayer petition basket.

Thank You We wish to express to you our most sincere appreciation for the many gifts and “treats” you gave us during this Christmas season. It would be very difficult for us to personally thank you, so please ac-

cept this “collective” thank you and know that we feel very blessed to serve you.
