• Programme must include all courses• Programme must include at least one of HCI 1, HCI 3, UBI 3

Presenter
Presentation Notes
In total you have 40 ECTS elective courses. Among these 40 ECTS, you must have 10 ECTS from the HCI group or the UBI group (unless you have had such a course in your bachelor program). We recommend that you start your first semester with taking 10 ECTS from the HCI or UBI group then you have more freedom in the third semester. You can see the possible choices on the next slides. We have used color green for the mandatory courses and color blue and yellow for the elective courses. However, the yellow courses are taught in the spring when you have no room for electives. An exchange semester is an experience for life! – We recommend the 3rd semester for going abroad. Then you will plan the exchange semester in your first semester with application deadline usually 1 December (see later slide) If you take the 10 ECTS HCI/UBI elective course during an echange When you take the 10 ECTS required UBI/HCI during your exchange, then you are not required to find a course that matches 1-1 with one of the courses you don’t take at AU. It suffices to take another course within the same field of research.

Presentation Notes
To do a project work, you must reach an agreement with an advisor about the contents. Project work may serve several purposes:, e.g. It allows you to go through material that are not taught in the ordinary courses – maybe as follow up to an ordinary course. It can be preparation in the 3rd semester for your thesis in the 4th semester.

Presenter
Presentation Notes
The order is 1. You decide on your choice of elective course(s) for the next semester – you are invited to a personal guidance meeting 2. You make a Master’s Contract and submit for approval before 1 May. If this is you 1st semester in the Master’s program, you may put a placeholder for elective courses in the later semesters, and delay naming them till later. 3. You sign up for the courses in the fall semester in the period 1-5 May (for courses outside the NAT faculty, see the next slide) If you regret a choice, you revise the contract and change you enrolment correspondingly – but before 5 May. For project work or vocational training project you must make a contract before you start the project. For the Fall semester, start is 1 September and hand-in no later than 15 January. The oral exam must take place no later than 30 January (the end of the examination period). For Thesis contracts in the fall, start is 1 September, hand-in 15 January, examination no later than 31 January. Contract must be made before 1 September.

Signing up for courses

Sign up: • January 15 – April 1 for courses in Summer

• May 1-5 for courses in (Summer &) Fall

• November 1-5 for courses in the Spring

• Advance approval of credit transfer is needed for courses from outside Nat-Tech,

• Outside AU: see http://studerende.au.dk/en/studies/subject-portals/computer-science/student-counselling/credit-transfer/

• Outside Nat-Tech, but inside AU: seehttp://studerende.au.dk/en/studies/subject-portals/computer-science/student-counselling/enrolment-in-a-credit-module/

• Apply well in advance!

• Advance approval of credit transfer is no guarantee that you will be admitted to the course!

Schedule for elective courses:• watch out for collisions!

Presenter
Presentation Notes
For courses taken outside the Nat-Tech faculties enrolment is more complicated – follow the web guidance – and start early! There is no schedule coordination across faculties. However, in case of schedule collision, you are always allowed to select another course from the list of courses offered by the department of Computer Science.
Page 22: IT Product Development Master's Programmecs.au.dk/~gudmund/kandidat_IT.pdfIT Product Development Master's Programme Master’s Degree Programme Important choices Structure of the Master’s

Fremdriftsreform (”study progress reform”)

If you follow the recommended program of study (30 ECTS per semester), take courses in the correct order (the Box Diagrams) and pass all courses at the ordinary exam or at the first scheduled re-exam then you need not worry about the study progress reform.

If you fall behind or do not pass a course at the latest by the first reexamination then contact us for advice and guidance on your individual study program.

If you ignore this advice and believe that “it will be fine", it may have serious consequences!

If you do not pass minimum 45 ECTS per year or you do not complete your master’s program within six months after the prescribed time you are automatically signed out of the study program / out of the university http://studerende.au.dk/en/studies/subject-portals/computer-science/student-counselling/maximum-duration-and-active-enrolment/.

If you fail an exam in an elective course, then that course has become mandatory! If you have made an erroneous choice of an elective course please contact us for guidance immediately!
