IntroductionThe following report has be created to display how useful Snapchat can be for businesses of all types and sizes. Snapchat can be used to cut future cost related to production and as a better channel to market.

What can Snapchat offer Businesses? Who makes up the population of Snapchat? What does Snapchat offer that conventional means of Marketing does not?

BackgroundThe mobile phone application called Snapchat allows smartphone users to easily send picture messages and text messages. This mobile phone application, as of mid-2015, also can be used as Voice Over Internet Protocol and also as a means of video chatting. Snapchat is innovative in that it makes uploaded content even more precious because the content uploaded is only available for a fixed amount of time.

PurposeThis paper will address the use and benefits of Snapchat for Business

SignificanceThis Business report is relevant to businesses interested in targeting the age group between 16 and 25. Although these users are young it is important to invest in creating relationships that will allow for future prosperity for organizations.

ScopeThe following report will show how Snapchat can be used by businesses and how businesses are able to interact with users or the targeted audience through Snapchat.

OrganizationThis report will begin by showing how Snapchat is used throughout the world, then it will go on to show how its miraculous growth, then the paper will show who users are – including their habits and lastly suggestions for businesses

Findings

Individuals Everywhere Join SnapchatAs of January 2nd of 2015 the total number of worldwide snapchat users is said to exceed over 200 million users. Females are estimated to occupy 70% of the user population and Males are said to account for 30% of the Snapchat User population. In the United Kingdom there are 49.1 million adults, about 66% of these adults have a smartphone. Of the 66.6% of adults in the United Kingdom with a smart phone, 25% of them use Snapchat. In Canada 17% of users between the age of 16 and 54 use Snapchat.

Way to grow (What big changes you’ve had)A common way that people interpret the popularity of a social media network is by the number of people who are using it. There is no fault in looking at it this way, but doing so does not give people any insight into what should be expected from a company, 6 months from now or even a year. Focusing on the growth of social media network by monitoring the number of users over different points in time is a

way to do this. Compare to every other social media website that there has ever been, including Facebook, Snapchat has grown the fastest. In this United States alone the percentage of people to use it doubles from in a span of a year - 2013 to 2014. This is depicted below in Figure 2

Business’ use of Snapchat to Target Teenagers and College StudentsWith over 100 million users active daily, over 75% of snapchat users are 18 or older, Snapchat is a great social network to market your business on. There are different ways about going about using Snapchat for marketing. On of said ways is to offer coupons to Snapchat users. A survey has found that 58% of College students would use coupons sent via Snapchat to purchase a product from a rand that sent them a Snapchat coupon. One of the biggest reasons why Businesses should use Snapchat to Market is because teens and college students are the consumers of tomorrow. Building brand familiarity with them early on in life develops sort of brand culture. They will use your product because it is what they know and what they are prone to use.

Social Network users stay on SnapchatAnother trait to take note of when determining which social media sites would be ideal to market on is the amount of time users spend on the Social Media Network on a daily basis. Snapchat is one of the top

3 Social Media Sites that people spend the most time on. 54% of Snapchat’s aggregate users use Snapchat daily. Facebook comes in first with an average of 30.3 minutes spent on it a day and Snapchat comes in Second with 8 and a half minutes being spent on it each day – statistics shown in Figure 5. Taking note of how much time is spent on Social Media platforms is important for those who are marketing their business because the more time each user spends on the site heightens the chance of them coming across your advertisement of user account.

Tips for Business use of SnapchatUsing Snapchat as a means to market can be innovative. The trick is to make your organization bond with the snapchat population. This can be done by simply creating a Snapchat account or advertising on

Snapchat. When doing either it is important to not come across as a Business that is only interested in raking in profit. To bond with Snapchat users would require you to post updates, or pictures with a caption, that consist of things that are familiar to them. Sour Patch Kids brilliantly bonded with Snapchat users by posting a picture with the caption “I woke up like this!” By using this trending expression with a photo relevant to many of Snapchat users the Sour Patch Kids Corporation came off as a ‘person’ that users could relate to. McDonalds has also used Snapchat as a means to market. In many of their Snaps they have featured famous athletes such as LeBron James and also used contest to get people interested in joining Snapchat. See Figure 4

Conclusions and RecommendationsSummary of Problems and ProceduresSnapchat is a great way to inspire Brand Loyalty, but it might not be the best option for small Business that have only been operating for less than 9 years. For the majority of small businesses one of the main focuses I surviving the first decade. Focusing on obtaining customers years well away from the first several years as a company might weaken the company – it is not good to tie up assets in long term investments.

Summary of FindingsAlthough Snapchat is relatively new it has grown miraculously in a short time. It has a surplus of users who are the consumers of tomorrow.
