Purpose of Project

Comparatively analyze UT Austin Administrative IT systems, environment, dependencies, & strengths with major off-the-shelf ERP software packages and recommend a 5-10 year strategy to optimally posture the university's future administrative systems.

“UT Austin Administrative Systems” The Departmental Financial Information

Network (*DEFINE) – An enterprise-wide application for the Financial and HR functions at UT Austin and numerous other UT institutions. The *DEFINE “system” is made up of a common interface using a set of agreed upon standards focused on ease-of-use and consistency.

What makes up UT Austin Administrative Systems?

Everything in *DEFINE

Other UT Austin Administrative Systems that may not use *DEFINE as their interface but still qualify as UT Administrative Systems.

Any software application that is commonly found in an ERP, even if it does not meet the above criteria (could be off-the-shelf software).

Decisions about what is “in scope” and what is “out of scope” will be ongoing and subject to change in the early stages of the project

In order to perform a meaningful comparison of UT Austin Administrative Systems to off-the-shelf ERP systems, “in scope” and “out of scope” decisions need to be fluid as more is learned about the off-the-shelf ERP’s.

Determine if they plan to change. If they use UT Austin Administrative

Systems, ascertain their attitude and opinions about UT Austin Systems they use.

If they use PeopleSoft or SCT Banner or are considering using PeopleSoft or SCT Banner, partner with them to gather information for inclusion in final report.

various user groups and leadership groups informed of progress.
