BACKGROUND AND THE PURPOSE OF THE SURVEY

The importance of domestic tourism for making

planning and decision in the tourism sector

As a main component in compiling the TSA, both

national and regional (Economic Term)

Data of domestic tourist is obtained from National

Socio Economic Survey (NSES), which is done

quarterly since 2011 (before, it is carried out annually)

The sample for each quarter : 75,000 households,

covering all provinces

From the NSES, we get the number of household trip

and the total number of domestics tourist quarterly

(VSEN.K Block IVA)

• The number of household trip from this survey become

a sampling frame for the module trip survey

• The purpose of domestics survey (module trip) is to

get the profile/characteristics, length of stay, and the

expenditure of domestics tourism

• The survey covers 86 regency/municipality in all 33

province in Indonesia

• Enumeration carried out using questionnaire VRTJ

METHODOLOGY

A. Selection of Regency/Municipality

From a sampling frame of regency/municipality (from

the result of NSES), a sample of 86 regency/

municipality is selected with Probability Proportional to

Size (PPS) with the size: number of household trips *)

B. Selection of Household

Sampling frame for selecting the household is a

frame of the regency/municipality selected that are

equipped with information on the number of

households trip (from A)

The household elected then become the respondent

of the survey

The sampling size for the survey is around 6,000

(3,600 (Q1) and 2,400 (Q2))
