Affiliate Marketing is Low risk:

One of the greatest benefits of affiliate marketing is that it's all performance based, which is often why people will refer to affiliate marketing as performance marketing. It's performance driven in the sense that as an advertiser, you'll create offers and enable affiliates the opportunity to promote your products, services, downloads, sign ups or whatever else you'd want to commission. Unlike search engine marketing, you'll only pay out when your affiliates drive qualified conversions which you approve

Affiliate Marketing and Fixed Payouts:

Every merchant knows the pains of managing a PPC account and tirelessly worrying about arbitraging the cost of the clicks with the revenue of the sale. It's an entirely different beast worrying about your conversion rate and keeping that in line with the cost of your traffic.

Good news, affiliate marketing has fixed costs!

There are multiple different parts to the payout puzzle; however, there are two main ones you should pay attention to.

The first, perform some competitive analysis and see what your competitors are paying out to their affiliates.

The second, you know the cost per conversion you receive in other marketing channels, use this as a baseline. You don't want to say, "Oh, my cost per conversion in Google AdWords is $20, therefore my affiliate payout will be $20 per conversion". What you want to know is what your competitors are paying out, what your costs are in other marketing channels, where your break even points are and if you can find something in the middle to attract more affiliates.

Affiliate Marketing and Consistent Revenues:

A mature affiliate program can represent a decent portion of your overall revenue, in some cases it can even represent up to 20%, not always, but possible. Because your affiliate program is the sum of aggregating tens, hundreds or even thousands of different affiliate sources; the law of averages goes into effect. This is the biggest reason your revenues will be mostly consistent over time.

Your affiliates will be driving traffic from literally countless different sources, as one decreases - another will increase - netting out a consistent flow.

Affiliate Marketing and Relationship Building:

Some advertisers are worried that managing tens, hundreds or thousands of individual relationships with affiliates is overwhelming. Well, it can be, but it shouldn't scare you.

When you're looking to join an affiliate network, (hopefully it's free to join like our affiliate network) make sure they offer their advertisers messaging functionality.

The better you are at building relationships, the more revenue your program will generate. Strong relationships present opportunities which aren't openly available. Keep in close contact with your top 10 affiliates and take charge by offering up an increase to commission in exchange for a placement.

Affiliate Marketing and Invoicing:

one of the benefits to running your affiliate program through a network is that the network will likely take care of paying your affiliates. This is one of the services offered and paid for through your network fees.

your affiliates will drive traffic to your site through your affiliate links, your affiliate program software will track this traffic and correlate the conversion revenue with your commission rate and break this out separately for each of your affiliates.
