It is refreshing to see the grass turning green, buds on the trees, and flowers poking through the leaves. We have even tilled both gardens and the ground worked up nicely. This also means the farmers are get- ting into the fields with anhydrous applications and beginning field work. Use extra caution when driving/riding in the areas where the farming operations are getting into full swing. As you know, our schedule for socials and gatherings has been put on hold for the time being (at least through April). We will keep in touch and let you know when it is safe to once again get together. In the in- terim we can service our bikes and get them cleaned up for the summer. Speaking for myself, I haven’t gotten around to getting ready to ride. I do plan to service our trike this week so we can take a short ride on one of the warm days. This is a different and strange time for most of us. Hopefully everyone is sheltering in place and remaining free of the corona virus. Carolyn hasn’t left our property since March 16, and I have only left a couple times to make a quick run to town for prescriptions and a few groceries. We are doing the “shelter-in-place” as being promoted by the medical community. I can’t be- lieve the shortage of toilet paper in our county and apparently in most of the country! We have heard of several alternatives to use when toilet paper is not available, but none of those methods appeal to us. Fortunately, we haven’t had to resort to any of those alternatives yet! On a positive note, we have really been hitting the “spring cleaning” with a vengeance. Most closets, shelves, cupboards, drawers, and general cleaning have been accomplished. This past week we have been working outdoors on flowerbeds, creek banks, cutting brush, etc. It’s been good to be out in the warm, fresh air for some exercise, but have found that our bodies aren’t con- ditioned for this strenuous workout all at once. Time to break out the Ben Gay and heating pads! (continued on page 2)

Let’s all remain positive while we are staying home. It’s a perfect time to call our friends to check on them and catch up on what’s going on with them. You can call your family, check on your neighbors, watch some old movies that you have wanted to watch (“when you have some spare time”) —this is the time!! It’s a good time to read a book, work some puzzles and exercise mentally. We also need to exercise physically to keep in shape. We can go for a walk, exercise in place, do some yoga stretching, or whatever you are capable of doing. Here’s hoping we will get the green light to resume our normal lifestyles in the next six weeks. We are looking forward to getting the bike out and going on some rides. This virus is playing havoc with everyone. We cancelled all of the activities at Sterling earlier last week, now we are cancelling all of the activities at Vandalia as of right now, March 24, 2020. Those that have sent in your money for Sterling should be getting your refund soon as that paperwork has already been turned in. I will start on the Vandalia paperwork tonight. Rescheduling is not an option at this time. As far as the levels program everyone that is affected by this shutdown of everything will not suffer any setback in the Masters timetable. We hope this will be all over with soon enough and can get out and ride. PMS is really taking a hold on everything. (Parked Motorcycle Syndrome). Motorist Awareness Fun Run 2020
The map fun run for this summer is visiting museums in the state. Carolyn Thomsen, the Motorist Awareness Coordinator for the Illinois District has given us a preview of the Fun Run. Here is a brief summary of the announcement. “I have been working on the 2020 Fun Run and I hope you will have a lot of fun with the locations that have been selected. This year we will be looking at Mu-seums from around Illinois. Many of the locations have limited hours of opera-
tion and/or may charge a fee to go inside, so if you plan to take a closer look or maybe spend some time at them, please check out their website for times and fees should they apply. For the Fun Run you do not have to go into the museums but many of them are free so why not. It could be a lot of fun. Take your picture and submit on District website. You can submit 1 picture per group, just list all GWRRA members present and make sure the name of the site is in the picture or with the list of names. The Fun Run will go from April 1st thru Oct 31
st. Prior to turning in your tally sheets, draw your poker
hands at your chapter gathering or chapter event and have your chapter director sign off on the tally sheet. All tally sheets must be submitted to the MAP District Coordinator by December 15
th, 2020
with your check of $5.00 per poker hand submitted. A list of the museums is posted on the District Website so get out there and have some fun with the 2020 Fun Run.” http://gwrra-ildistrict.com/map-fun-run1.html H2 will set up some ride dates for visiting the museums this summer. You can also ride to them on an individual basis is you would like to.
Donna Larson has been busy during the “shelter-in-place” order by making masks through JoAnn Fabrics. A group of about 25 people are making masks for nursing homes and hospitals in the area. As of now, they have made several thousand. Donna is working on 300. Good job, Donna!

As of right now we do not have a signed contract with any of the hotels. We will have a new contract signed and in place within 2 weeks. At this time PLEASE DO NOT have your members call to cancel the reservations. After the new contract is signed then Angel Inn will be transfer-ring all of our group reservations over. If you have an email address on file with them they will be sending you a con-firmation notice for your room in 2021. We will also have a group list so if you don’t get a confirmation notice, you can email us & we will check the list.
GWRRA has asked us to halt all Chapter Functions until further no-
tice. Therefore, the following May functions will occur only if
GWRRA gives us the go ahead.
Don’t forget to bring your food pantry donations to the May meeting! This is a great service we can do for the community.
