The Tulsa City Center Membership Drive was held on September 22nd at the Aloft Hotel. We had a great turnout of both members and non-members. The goal was to bring in new members and promote exciting upcoming IIDA events. This year’s theme was “A Sweet Deal”. Excellent food was served and several door prizes were given out.

Tulsa City Center won an Honorable Mention for City Center of the Year this August at the annual IIDA Gala. The Gala was held in Dallas, TX and our Tulsa City Center Director, Shannon Mitchener, and Communications Chair, Molly Adams, were present to accept the award. Both are pictured right.

Holiday Party

This year’s Holiday Party was held at the Luxury Cherry Street Condos. Almost 40 were in attendance from various organizations including members of IIDA, Modern Tulsa, and Tulsa’s Young Architect’s Forum. Everyone brought yummy food to share and over $100 was raised for OIDC. Special thanks to Scott Rice and Coalesse for providing fun furniture to view and try out at the apartment!

   IIDA Member’s Work Featured On TV

One of our chapter members is using her design skills in the exciting area of set design. Below is an installation designed by Maranda Carson for the “Cowboy Football Roundup Show with Coach Mike Gundy.”

This set is constructed in a 10 feet wide x 20 feet long x 15 foot high space. Maranda’s challenge was to provide a sense of depth in such a tiny area. The stacked stone that was used is poured concrete which was hand painted and shipped to the site for installation. Congratulations to Maranda on a successful project!

A big congratulations to Angela Holmes with Bentley Prince Street for winning volunteer of the year and to TRI-KES and InterfaceFLOR who tied for industry member of the year!!

MadDash in Review

On November 8th the Tulsa City Center hosted the MadDash event at the Stokely Event Center. The event was a great success and attendees had fun supporting the 50’s “Mad Men” theme. Many dressed up in their best vintage clothes in an effort to win the coveted “Best Dressed” award.

Over 16 booths were available for design professionals and students to visit and participate in a quick 5 minute “speed date.” During the date, vendors shared their newest introductions and put their best foot forward in an effort to win the “Best Date” award.

A special thanks goes out to KI for sponsoring our photo booth and to Knoll for sponsoring the yummy chocolate fountain!
