A NEW DAY DAWNS Today we hear how Jonah, sent by God to warn the people, storms through the streets of Nineveh, scaring the citizens out of their wits. And it works! God has a change of heart, seeing “by their actions” how the people turn from evil (Jonah 3:10). A new day dawns. Next we hear Paul telling the Corinthians, “The world in its present form is passing away” (1 Corinthians 7:31). He calls for a change of heart. Stopping short of telling them to stop carrying out their everyday activities, he urges them—rather mysteriously—to live “as though” they aren’t doing the things they are doing. A new day has dawned. Finally, Jesus stands on the shore and cries, “The kingdom of God is at hand!” (Mark 1:14). Simon and Andrew abandon their nets—and even their father—and follow him. A new day had dawned. Everyone has to change when a new day dawns: the Ninevites, the Corinthians, the apos-tles, even Jesus! Didn’t a new day dawn today for us as well? Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

INCARNATION CATHOLIC SCHOOL

Winners of the Knights of Columbus Essay Contest received awards last week after Wednesday’s Mass, attended by the school. This essay was done in con-junction with Vocation Awareness Week.

ICS 8th grade students work in our School Garden. This project is part of their Science Curriculum at the school. Multiple grade levels participate in the Gar-den’s care and maintenance.

Members of the ICS Dads Club attended a recent ICS Morning Assembly. This assembly was the official kick-off to the Dads Club Hope Children’s Home Christmas Drive.

The Saints came marching in during the School’s Celebration of the Eucharist on the Feast of All Saints. 3rd grade students did a report on the life of a saint. For Mass, they dressed as that saint and Fr. Michael Suszynski incorporated them into his homi-ly, calling them up onto the altar and asking the students questions about their saint. This annual tradition is just one of the many ways in which ICS students learn about and participate in the Catholic faith.

"CHECK YOUR CLOSETS! ICCW is collecting used suitcases, back packs and/or duffle bags in very good to excellent condition to be distributed to children to place their personal belongings when entering foster care. A suitcase instead of a black plastic trash bag adds a little dignity to a very trying time. We are also collect-ing used cell phones and chargers that can be recycled and donated to domestic violence victims. This monthly collection date is the second Sunday of each month. This is an ongoing Community Project. Please drop off at St. Michael's entry hall after all the masses. Thank you for your support."

Juan Pablo II
