• Germany is a beautiful country. I mean it.

• It’s a completely different culture. It really will

give you a new perspective on life.

• People are very friendly

Why learn German?

• It’s required• It definitely helps to make friends• Safety – most people will understand English

but important signs/announcements• Learning a language is essential in cultural

immersion! Helps understand mindset.

How to go if you are a freshman

• First off, language requirement. If you have any background in German, make an appointment!

• Academic background. inadequate at times. But if you are ready to work hard, they’ll teach you.

What was I doing?• I was working at the Institute of Pathology,

University of Bonn Medical School.• Prostate cancer research. Had several cell lines. • Great learning experience.Some things I noticed:• Germans not as expected- not organized and

disciplined. Pretty relaxed.• Interns/lab technicians/researches join the same

meetings, treated as a part of the team
