Honeywell Subject to change EN0H-2608GE25 R0311 HyBO-HIU Hydraulic Interface Unit PRODUCT DATA Overview The HIU (Hydraulic Interface Unit) series consist of the following products: HIU Hydraulic Interface Unit (this datasheet) HyBo Metering Box (see separate datasheet) To fullfil the plant requirements several options are available for each product range . Application The HIU (Hydraulic Interface Unit) is designed to be applied in central heating systems for multi family dwellings where the domestic hot water is produced directly in the apartment. The typical heating systems where HIU can guarantee the maximum performances are designed based on the following criteria and principles: High design delta-T conditions: emission terminals such as radiators are designed considering a high water ΔT (for example 30-40or 50K). Minimise design water flow: high delta-T conditions allow minimising nominal water flow and a more flexible distribution system Contain pipeline dimensions: with minimised water flow it is possible to contain pipeline dimensions, containing cost and simplify installation Reduce insulation cost: smaller pipeline dimensions effect cost of insulation Minimise distribution pump dimension/consumption: a low flow system allows reduction of the pump size. Also electricity consumption is reduced when pipelines are designed for reducing total system pressure drop Facilitate balancing: a low flow system combined with low pressure drop pipelines facilitate balancing due to low pres- sure drop from the main risers of the plant Guarantee high performance for heat generation system: low return temperature conditions guarantee best performance for main generation system such as condensing boiler, district heating system, heat pump systems, etc. Guarantee heat and water metering accuracy high ΔT allow to reduce the measures errors (ref EN1434, UNI10200) A: Apartment B: Room thermostat C: HyBo – Hydraulic inter- face Unit (HIU) D: Technical Space 1. Overview The HIU (Hydraulic Interface Unit) series consist of the following products: • HIU Hydraulic Interface Unit (this datasheet) • HyBo Metering Box (see separate datasheet)To fullfil the plant requirements several options are available for each product range .

ApplicationThe HIU (Hydraulic Interface Unit) is designed to be applied in central heating systems for multi family dwellings where the domestic hot water is produced directly in the apartment.The typical heating systems where HIU can guarantee the maximum performances are designed based on the following criteria and principles:• High design delta-T conditions: emission terminals such as

Features• High accuracy ultrasonic or multijet heatmeter avoids

customer complaints and guarantees correct measurement for years (MID class 2)

• M-Bus ready heatmetering system: all versions are equipped with M-Bus devices ready for connection to M-Bus network reducing site effort

• Electronic watermeter with M-Bus output: use multijet tech-nology. Allow to measure flow, change reading date and simplify operation of commissioning and reading. This allows reduction of commissioning time by reading DHW water flow for each apartment • Insulated version to reduce heat losses

FunctionThe HIU Hydraulic Interface unit provides the following main functions: • Heat and water M-Bus metering system: the unit is equipped

with an ultrasonic or mechanical heatmeter with M-Bus communication output

• Domestic Water Production: the unit is equipped with a heat exchanger, electronic board, modulating valve. The PID algorithm guarantee safe, quick and efficient DHW produc-tion.

• Balancing: the unit is equipped with a Honeywell Kombi-3-plus in order to provide the right commissioning of the heating system

• Heating system control: the unit is equipped with a motorised valve that receives a command from an external thermostat (optional) will allow to open or close the heating circuits

SpecificationsMounting optionsHIU Hydraulic Interface unit is design to be installed inside the building. The following indications must be respected: • Install the product in a vertical wall able to support the weight

in operating conditions• Hydraulic connections: primary circuit from the top, secon-

dary circuit to the apartment from the bottom (see hydraulic schema)

• Install the product in place protected from frost The HIU Hydraulic Interface unit can be installed in the following ways:• Basic Version: suitable for building were a dedicated space

has been reserved. (criteria for designing the space: space for maintenance avoid water leakage influence different critical components etc)

• Wall hanging: suitable for retrofitting wall hanging boilers in old buildings or for new buildings

• Template: in wall installation

Product options The HIU Hydraulic Interface unit product options are: • Installation options

• Basic• Wall hanging

• Heat exchanger:• Standard• High surface: for condensing boilers

• Additional water line: • With: An additional electronic water meter is installed to

allow counting the water consumption only for domestic hot water preparation. This option is usually used to mini-mize the water softener dimensions for the entire building.

• Without: an electronic water meter is installed to measure the total sanitary water consumption (cold and hot)

• Balancing valve option: with or without. • Insulation: with or without• Heatmeter type:

• Multijet EW447M1200 • Ultrasonic EW7730K1200

• Watermeter type:• Multijet EW743M1200 (always installed in combination

with EW447M1200) • Singlejet EW148P1201 (always installed in combination

with EW7730K1200)

• Template: must be order separately. Template is equipped with flushing pipes, ball valves and carton protection for the constructions work.
