2012 COMMuNITy SuRvEy – The HRCA Board of Directors directed us to
conduct a professional survey of 3,000 randomly selected residents to find out what
they want or don’t want to see developed in the Backcountry Wilderness Area.
Consequently, we issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) and awarded the contract
to National Research Center. The Board, in cooperation with the delegates, will be
finalizing the questionnaire this month. If you are lucky enough to get a survey mailed
to you, you will be one of the chosen few to have a direct effect on the community’s
future, please take the opportunity to provide your feedback and answers.

Summer has arrived and with it, warm temperatures causing
stress on landscaping. As a reminder to all, regular mowing,
trimming, watering, and weed control are a part of landscape
maintenance that not only keeps your lawn healthy, but also
keeps the neighborhoods looking good. you should be able
to achieve acceptable results and stay within your monthly
water budget. Be water wise and don’t irrigate between 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
recent storms
As we are all aware, Highlands Ranch was hit hard by recent storms causing damage
to just about everything in its path. Many residents may be in the process of working
with insurance companies to replace damaged roofing, paint, siding, etc. Just a
reminder, prior to starting the work, approval is required for the exterior
improvement from the Highlands Ranch Community Association. The appropriate
architectural request form can be found on at www.HRCAonline.org/forms. If you
have any questions regarding the process, please call HRCA at 303-471-8821.
more recycling options The goals when HRCA began the preferred-provider opt-in trash
program were to provide valuable service at a lower cost while
fulfilling one of the board’s strategic objectives: Championing
environmental stewardship and sustainability.
Two years later, the community continues to benefit from the program with our
preferred-provider Pro Disposal. By opting in, Highlands Ranch home owners receive
significant savings. For no additional fee, Pro Disposal provides recycling pick-up and
their Highlands Ranch customers have increased their recycling to 36% of their trash.
Another environmental benefit is the decrease in truck traffic which reduces emissions
and less wear and tear on streets.
What are the options for recycling? The opt-in program includes bi-weekly single-
stream recycling (all recyclables for collection are mixed but kept separate from other
waste). Pro Disposal is now the first curbside residential hauler in the Denver area to
accept heavy plastics for recycling. These mixed rigid plastics are high density
polyethelene and include items such as five-gallon buckets. Pro Disposal is also able to
accept gable tops (milk and juice cartons). To sign up for the preferred provider
program call Pro Disposal at 303-791-3827.

For kids who enjoy art, try Studio Camp
beginning July 9. “Renew, Reuse, Recycle”
is the theme and campers will have a

If being in the kitchen sounds like more
fun, sign your child up for Tastes of America, July 23-27. This fun
camp will have children learning about all-American treats that
they can make themselves!
If toe-tapping is more their style, consider the Dance Camp or
Hip Hop Camp. Both camps are July 17-19 at Northridge. These
fun camps will expose your child to fun and contemporary moves.

their creations. Imagination and engineering combine to create
motorized and architectural projects that will have your child
talking for weeks. leonard’s Toy Chest is also offered this month.
This fun science program gives campers the chance to make their
very own pinball machine, robot drum, or paddlewheel boat.

to celebrate during this special week. For more information,

The HRCA is pleased to announce two new additions to our
Preschool offerings this fall. At Eastridge, we will open a full day
Toddler Enrichment program for children ages 12 months to three
years. The program will focus on the important introductions to
motor, social, cognitive, and linguistic skills that build a pervasive
foundation for future developmental growth. Space is limited which
allows our teachers to work individually with each child on skill
building to prepare for preschool learning. This program provides
care Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and runs concurrently
with our Preschool Enrichment program that toddlers can naturally
move into at the age of three years.
Westridge is adding a full day Preschool Enrichment program for
three-five year olds. This full day program is Monday - Friday, 7:30
a.m. - 5:30 p.m. When merged with our morning combined age
preschool class, it provides an all-day structured and educational
environment.
The HRCA believes that every stage of life provides important
learning opportunities that are critical to future individual, social,
and academic success. This makes our Toddler Enrichment and
Preschool Enrichment programs a wonderful place to raise your
family. For more information on these programs, call 303-471-8814.

composing camera shots, and digital editing that will help
prepare them to become the next hot movie producer. For
