Use colorful or striking graphics

One large image will have more impact than many smaller images. A stunning photo or illustration grabs attention, creates a mood, and supports your story. This image is your "focal point" and will draw your readers in.

Illustration is more than ornamentation.

At a minimum, a picture or graphic image should grab attention and draw your reader into the message. At its best, it will express something words can’t.

Use a delicate hand

People new to design tend to make text and graphics too big and/or too bold. Keep your layout simple. Limit yourself to two typefaces to minimize the visual confusion. Use illustrations that build on your message.

Avoid common errors• Don’t use too many fonts. Use no more than two different fonts on your flyers. Use one font for your headings and one for your smaller text. Do not use any more than that. • Don’t use strange looking fonts. Many businesses try to get fancy when it comes to the fonts they use on their flyers. Instead, use simple fonts that are easy to read. It helps get your message out there better. • Use the white space. White space is not your enemy. It helps to make your flyer more readable and easy to look at. • Don’t Put content too close to the edge of the flyer. Be careful to avoid putting images or words too close to the side of your flyers. Anything there will be difficult for the customer to read and may be overlooked entirely.

A common mistake is to put too much information on a poster putting people off from ever reading it in the first place
