Then, I started setting up my first LinkedIn ads.

But here’s a surprise that I’d like you to know.

I did not spend a single dollar for my first LinkedIn ads.

How did that happen?

Well a few months back, LinkedIn posted a free US$50.00 coupon on, well, LinkedIn.

I think this is their way of telling people to give LinkedIn ads a try.

Seeing that the offer came from LinkedIn and it’s legit, I took the offer.

(Just in case you still see the coupon post, go grab it. Why? LinkedIn ads are expensive. Thank you, Social Media Manager School, for teaching me that.)

Alright, let’s get into the action!

I clicked Advertise under Work once I was inside LinkedIn.

I was re-directed here (on a new window). Then I clicked Create Ad.

Page 16: How I ran my first LinkedIn ads

I chose Text Ads because of one reason: the other options would require me to create a company page. It’s not my priority now.

Page 17: How I ran my first LinkedIn ads

I then created two Text Ads. This is ad 1.

This is ad 2.

Here are my ads! So excited! Then I clicked Next.

I then worked on the targeting. I targeted three LinkedIn Groups.

The next part was the Budget. As you see, the CPC bid in LinkedIn is expensive.

Page 22: How I ran my first LinkedIn ads

So I decided to bid for US$2.00 (minimum) and set the daily budget to US$10.00 a day.

I ran the LinkedIn Text ads for 4 days.

I never forgot my coupon code! I submitted the code and voila!

I still entered my credit card details even if the I got the code. It’s a basic requirement for any ads.

I then clicked Launch campaign.

Takeaways from my first LinkedIn Ad campaign

1. Image is everything for text ads. My second ad worked better because the ebook’s cover is bigger than the first ad.

2. The play on the word “ANNiversary” could work on warm audience. The LinkedIn groups I targeted are cold audience.

Nevertheless, I was happy that I braved LinkedIn ads. Having learned about Facebook Ads made me confident about it because they are all the same in terms of elements (creatives, targeting, budget, etc.)
