Definition of asthma (GINA 1995):
Chronic inflammatory disease of the respiratory tract
Infiltration with mast cells, eosinophils, and lymphocytes
Recurrent attacks of wheezing, coughing and shortness of breath
Variable narrowing of airways that is at least partially reversible
Bronchial hyper-reactivity

Exhaled Breath Temperature (EBT): BASIC
CONCEPT
Temperature taking is universally used as a
diagnostic and prognostic tool for infectious or other
diseases. Usually, it is measured at the traditional
body sites and provides estimates for core
temperature with a reasonable degree of
approximation.

• The deep structures of the lungs usually have a temperature which is
representative of the center of the body and which is determined by
the blood circulating in the bloodstream of the alveoli.
• The blood supply to the upper airways is separated from the left side
of the heart. Any process that can change the circulation in the walls
of the airways can affect the temperature of the exhaled air, i.e. EBT.

Goal of clinical observation
Evaluation of the effectiveness of the combined
therapeutic approach, homeopathic & allopathic, in
the treatment of childhood asthma with a new non-
invasive indicator: exhaled breath temperature (EBT).

Patients
79 children (aged 7 to 17 years) with persistent moderate or
severe asthma, indicated for treatment with an inhaled
corticosteroid (ICS)
• "Homeopathic" group (ICS + homeopathic therapy) –
42 children
• "Allopathic" group (ISC only) – 37 children
• Control group – healthy children without active
pulmonary infection or asthma – 22 children

Methods
1. Clinical evaluation of asthma
2. At the beginning and after three months of
treatment:
- lung function (spirometry);
exhaled breath temperature (EBT)
(X-halo, Delmedica Investments, Singapore).

Asthma treatment and homeopathy
Asthma is a chronic disease which, if treated
incorrectly, can lead to disability.
Asthma treatment should be carried out in
accordance with medical standards and
consensus.
Homeopathic treatment does not preclude the
conventional treatment.

Failures in the treatment of asthma are due to
the inability to use the right combination of the
homeopathic method and the conventional
method.
The strength of homeopathy is in prevention.

Conclusion
The combination of the homeopathic method
and the conventional method results in
control of immuno-allergic inflammation
(determined by EBT) in children with asthma
at a higher level than that resulting from the
conventional method alone.

Homeopathic treatment must include
treatment targeting inflammation and
airway remodeling.
