In the last few weeks, we have had two school open days with tours led by our school
Captains and a group of Year 6 Leaders. I would like to thank all of the Year 6 students

Sibling Enrolments
Parents please note that if you have a child who will be ready to start Prep in 2019, you need to collect an application
form from the front office, complete it and return it by April 18.
CSEF (Camps, Sports and Excursion Fund)
If you have a Health Care Card, you are eligible to apply for help from the CSEF, so please contact the school office as
soon as possible. If you are eligible for a card but do not have one, it is in your best interest and the interest of the school,
that you obtain a card and let us know as soon as possible. Please see information with the newsletter.
Unexplained Student Absence
In accordance with the VIC Minister for Education’s Attendance Guidelines, schools must contact parents on the day of
any unexplained absence. From the beginning of next term, we will begin to implement a process of contacting parents for
unexplained absences on the day of the absence. As you can imagine, this is an enormous task. To assist us in reducing this
task, it is critical that you contact us on the day of your child’s absence. The easiest way to do
this is through the SchoolBag App. You can also call the office. If you will be away for an
extended period of time, a letter to your child’s teacher is the best notification.

JUSTICE FOR ALL
Last week we celebrated Catholic Education Week which in-
volved our school and RE leaders attending a mass held at St.
Patrick’s Cathedral celebrating the feast day of Ireland’s pa-
tron saint, St. Patrick. Mass was led by Archbishop Dennis
Hart to a multitude of primary and secondary school stu-
dents, as well as family members and teachers.
Archbishop Hart described St. Patrick as, “a man who was so
in love with Jesus Christ that he endured hardship and captiv-
ity, fasted for forty days, and never lost sight of the
knowledge and love of God, his good parents had given him.”
He also spoke about how, in a time when our youth are look-
ing for role models to aspire to be like, individuals who demon-
strate courage and bravery, they often focus on the likes of
footballers, cricketers, performers, etc. He spoke about the
characteristics of our saints, and encouraging us not to forget
and dismiss them as role models. “Patrick was someone who
was brave and courageous in God’s service and he invites us to
a greater and deeper courage”.
GOSPEL REFLECTION:
Yesterday marked the 5th Sunday of Lent. The Gospel read-
ing, from John 12:20-33, was the story of Jesus teaching his
disciples about the way in which he will be glorified by God,
after Jesus explained this to his disciples a voice from heaven
is heard affirming all that he had said.
Like Jesus’ explanation to his disciples, life is also a balancing
act where we are constantly addressing a number of needs on a
daily basis. As we grow older we quickly learn the value of
putting others’ needs ahead of our own. It is in some of these
moments, when we witness the happiness within those we
love, that the gains from our personal sacrifice outweigh what
we may have lost.
As you gather as a family at some point this week, make a
conscious effort to consider the last time another family mem-
ber asked for help. Reflect on your responses, can these re-
sponses be changed during this time of Lent. Try as a team, to
consciously help one another when someone requires help
within your family and to do so without hesitation or com-
plaint.
FAMILY PRAYER:
Lord Jesus,
Thank you for our family. Bless each one of us in our uniqueness
and let us use our gifts and talents to ensure unity and love within
our family now and always.
Amen
