A mini-research, 1,500-3,000 words. On students’ selected electives. Focus on an aspect of 20th centuryhistory relevant to their needs,interests, and ability levels. Two tasks (subject weighting @10%):

Three electivesThree electives Three different approaches to history. They should not be considered as mutuallyexclusive:

Issue-based with comparisons. Comparative studies: the examples are to illustrate agiven theme/issue. Local heritage studies: may adopt an issue-based orcomparative approach.

Therefore, all of them should be offered to the students.

Highlight of SBA implementationHighlight of SBA implementation

The importance of drafting titles. Student initiative. Different marking criteria for the threeelectives. Whenever possible, the whole class shallattend each of the student presentation. Grading to be based on appropriateness andvalidity of analysis rather than ‘correctness’of viewpoints. Oral presentation (Task 1): videotaping isnot necessary.

Statistical moderation to tackle the issue of standard differences among schools. But… what about the “outlier cases”? Outlier cases – school SBA marks substantially different from the average Submission of six samples per school, each containing completed Forms A and B and study report in electronic form (pdf / doc).

Transfer studentsTransfer students

S6 students who are transferred from other schools. Only need to submit SBA marks for S6,that is, that of Task Two. Marks will be proportionally adjusted to 20% ofsubject mark. They should consult their new subjectteachers for suggestions andimprovement.
