Islam is the holy faith of Muslims, based on the

words and religious system founded by the prophet

Muhammad and taught by the Quran, the belief of

which is absolute obedience to a unique and

personal God, Allah.

By the time of Muhammad's death, a series of caliphs and dynasties led the Muslim community, creating an Islamic empire that took over 100 years to reach southern Spain. This was a period of great intellectual strength.

570 Birth Muhammad’s birth. 576 6 Both parents had died.

595 25 Khadija proposed to Muhammad.

610 40 Muhammad received revelations from God that he recited to others; he began to preach

to the people of Mecca. 622 52 Muhammad left Mecca and had moved to

Medina. 630 60 Muhammad was invited back to Mecca.

632 62 Died in Mecca.

Muhammad was born around the year 570 in the city of Mecca. He was the last prophet of the religion of Islam. Muhammad's full name was Abu al-Qasim Muhammad Ibn Abd Allah Ibn Abd al-Muttalib Ibn Hashim.

Muslims believe that the Qur'an is the very word of God Almighty. A complete record of the exact words revealed by God through the Angel Gabriel to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).A verse from the holy Quran: (quote)

So patiently persevere: for verily the “promise of Allah is true: nor let those shake thy firmness, who have (themselves) no certainty of faith.”

Mecca is the Holy City of Islam. It is located in the western region of Saudi Arabia, near the Red Sea. For Muslims, Mecca is a very important and sacred place. All able-bodied Muslims must travel to Mecca during their lifetimes to fulfil hajj, or pilgrimage, one of the Five Pillars of Islam. The city is holy for a number of reasons. The primary reason for most Muslims is that Mecca is the birthplace of Muhammad, the prophet of Islam.

Muslims were and still are people who had an opened belief in Islam. As believers, they worship the One God and look up to Prophet Muhammad, (pbuh), as the last messenger of God. They also believed in all the prophets which led Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and the holy books which they brought, such as the Psalms, the Torah and the Quran.
