1 Important Information

1.1 Safety Information

The following information is intended for service personnel and authorized specialists. Only these persons are permitted to work on the installation.

Read through all information on the equipment carefully, and follow all safety instructions. Make sure you know the emergency numbers.

Always contact your supervisor before starting work if the necessary safety measures do not appear to be in place (e. g. risk of gas explosion, humidity).

Important InformationSafety Information

1.1.1 Safety Information: Danger

● Before starting the installation and connecting the subscribers, the installation must be cor-rectly connected to the protective conductor. Never operate the equipment with the ground wire disconnected.

● Voltages above 30 V AC (alternating current) or 60 V DC (direct current) are dangerous.

● If the power cable appears to be damaged, replace it immediately.

● Immediately replace any damaged safety equipment (covers, labels and protective cables).

● If maintenance work requires the power supply of the system to be shut down,

– use the shut-off switch to disconnect the system from the power supply circuit and se-cure the disconnect device mechanically so that it cannot be used by other persons.

– Attach a sign reading “DO NOT OPERATE” to the disconnect device. A disconnect device can be a shut-off switch (main switch) or circuit-breaker (fuse/au-tomatic circuit-breaker).

– Before starting any work on the installation, find out where the system’s disconnect de-vice is located.

● If you are performing work on circuits with hazardous voltages, always work together with a partner who is familiar with the location of the switch for the power supply.

● Always ensure adequate insulation when touching powered circuits.

● Ensure that the installation is not powered by an additional power supply, or protected via an additional fuse or additional main switch.

● Before starting any work, check whether the corresponding circuits are still on power. Nev-er take it for granted that all circuits have reliably been disconnected from the power supply when a fuse or a main switch has been switched off.

● During a thunderstorm, you should not connect or remove telephone lines or boards.

● Expect to encounter leakage current from the telecommunication network.

● Ensure that, whenever work is carried out on an open installation, the installation is never left unsupervised.

1.1.2 Safety Information: Warning

● There is the risk of an explosion if the lithium battery is not replaced correctly. The lithium battery must be replaced only by the same or equivalent types recommended by the deal-er.

● Be aware of additional dangers with low voltages and large cross-sections. Cables with a large cross-section generally have lower voltages, although the current strengths are high-er. This is particularly dangerous, e.g. in the event of short circuits.

● When working on the installations, never wear loose clothing and always tie back long hair.

● Never wear jewelry, for example or metal watch straps, metal fittings or metal rivets on items of clothing. There is a risk of injury and short circuits.

● The surface of a mirror is conductive. Never touch powered components with a mirror; you may injure yourself and/or at least cause short-circuit damage.

● Always wear the necessary eye protection whenever appropriate.

● Always wear a protective helmet where falling objects might injure you.

● Always disconnect the power supply when you are working directly next to a power supply unit or direct current converter, unless the work instructions expressly permit you to work without shutting off the power.

● Never try to lift heavy objects without assistance.

● Never look directly at a laser beam.

1.1.3 Safety Information: Caution

● Check the nominal voltage set for the equipment (operating instructions and type plate).

● As long as the power supply is switched on, always observe the greatest caution when per-forming measurements on powered components and maintenance work on plug-in cards, boards and covers.

● To protect electrostatically sensitive devices (ESD):

– Wear a wristband before carrying out any work on PC boards and modules. Connect the alligator clip at the end of the electrostatic wristband wire to a grounded object.

– Transport PC boards only in suitable protective packaging.

– Always place PC boards on a grounded conducting base, and do not work on the PC boards anywhere else.

– Only use grounded soldering irons.

● Only use tools and testers suitable for the job. Do not use broken tools and testers, inspect them regularly.

● Locate the main switch for the power supply and follow the instructions affixed to it.

● Cables should be installed so that they do not pose an accident risk (i.e. will not trip any-body up) or are damaged.

1.1.4 General Information

● If the installation is brought into the operating site from a cold environment, condensation may occur. Wait until the temperature of the installation has adjusted to the ambient tem-perature and until the installation is absolutely dry before you start it up.

● Before starting wall assembly, check whether the load-bearing capacity of the wall is ade-quate, e. g. in the event of plasterboard walls.

● When the installation or maintenance is completed, replace all safety equipment in the cor-rect location.

● Check your tools regularly. Only use intact tools.

● Close the doors after finishing testing, maintenance, or installation.

● All cables and lines which leave a system cabinet must be screened at least between the connection point in the cabinet and the point at which the cable leaves the cabinet.Use a clip and pressure screw to contact all shield fabric to the cabinet outlet. This also applies to permanently connected service equipment.

● Cables should only be connected to the specified connection points.

● Do not install any external modems in the installation cabinets.

● Do not allow flammable materials to be stored near the installation or in the installation room.

● Ensure good lighting at the workplace.

● Untidiness at the workplace involves the risk of injuries.

1.1.5 What To Do in an Emergency

● In the event of accidents, remain calm and controlled.

● Always switch off the power supply before you touch an accident victim.

● If you are not able to switch off the power supply immediately, only touch the victim with non-conducting materials (e. g. a broom handle made of wood), and first of all try to isolate the victim from the power supply.

● You must be familiar with first-aid practices in the event of electricity injuries. A fundamental knowledge of the various resuscitation methods if the victim has stopped breathing or if the victim’s heart is no longer beating, as well as first aid for treating burns, is absolutely nec-essary in such emergencies.

● If the victim is not breathing, immediately perform mouth-to-mouth or mouth-to-nose resus-citation.

● If you have appropriate training, immediately perform heart massage if the victim’s heart is not beating.

● Immediately call an ambulance or the emergency doctor. Provide the following information in the following sequence:

– Where did the accident take place?

– What happened?

– How many people were injured?

– What type of injuries?

– Wait for questions.

1.1.6 Reporting Accidents

● Immediately report all accidents, “near accidents” and potential sources of danger to your manager.

● Report all electrical shocks, no matter how small.

1.2 Data Protection and Data Security

This system also processes and uses personal data,e.g. for call charge metering purposes, displays and for recording subscriber data.

In Germany, the processing and use of such personal data are subject to various regulations, including the regulations of the Federal Data Protection Law (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz = BDSG). Observe all applicable laws in other countries.

The aim of data protection is to ensure that the rights of individuals are not infringed upon through the use of their personal data.

By protecting data against misuse during all stages of processing, privacy legislation also pro-tects the material interests of the individual and of third parties.

Members of Siemens and Siemens Rolm staff are required to observe business and data se-crecy as a result of the company’s work rules.

In order to ensure that the statutory requirements during service – (whether on-site or remote) – are consistently met, you should always observe the following rules. This safeguards the in-terests of the customer and offers added personal protection.

Contribute to data protection and data security with your conscientious action:

● Ensure that only appropriately authorized persons have access to customer data.

● Take full advantage of password allocation options; do not inform un authorized persons of passwords, e.g. by means of a written note.

● Ensure that no un authorized person is able to process (store, modify, transmit, disable, delete) or use customer data in any way.

● Prevent un authorized persons from gaining access to data media, e.g. on backup dis-kettes or log printouts. This applies to service calls as well as to storage and transport.

● Ensure that data media which are no longer required are completely destroyed. Ensure that documents are not generally available.

Work together with your contacts at the customer’s company: this creates mutual con-fidence and reduces your own workload.

2 Introduction

BLF-Win (Busy Lamp Field) is a control and display program that provides information on the status of the subscribers or subscriber groups configured in a telephone system.

2.1 General Information

The Busy Lamp Field program displays the ringing states of the configured subscribers and subscriber groups.

The main functions of the BLF-Win client are:

● Color status indicator of the subscriber line:

– Idle

– Ringing

– Out of service

– Busy

– not existing

● Customized configuration and design of the program window

● Configuration of subscribers and subscriber ranges

● Call forwarding

● Note function provided when subscribers and subscriber ranges are created. The note ap-pears in the fast tip.

● Networkwide solution: one BLF-Win Server can handle more switches in corporation with CAP V3.0 SCCP interface.

● Absence management information is displayed.

2.4 Configuring BLF-Win 3.0

The BLF computer is connected to a CAP system via a LAN interface. The BLF-Win server can run on the same PC as the BLF client, AC-Win and DS-Win. But it can also run on a different PC.

2.5 Implementing Windows

BLF-Win runs under Windows 2000 SP4 or Windows XP SP1.

Throughout this manual we assume that you are familiar with Windows and how to use it. For further information on the functions of Windows, please refer to the Windows 2000 or XP User Manual.

3.1 General Information

– A BLF PC only supports communication type (LAN).

– Power save mode must not be enabled on the BLF PC (BIOS setup). A screen reso-lution of at least 1280 x 1024 is recommended as certain dialog boxes are not fully vis-ible with lower resolutions.

– Use the „TrueColor“ setting to ensure a correct colour display.

An Ethernet network card of the type Ether Link 3COM Combo (S26361-F1952-L1) must be installed in the PC for connecting via Ethernet. The network card should be supported by the operating system with the relevant driver software or the drivers should be supplied by the card manufacturer.

One LAN card is required for the server PC:

1. For the connection to the CAP V3.0 and to the customer LAN (to support BLF-Win Clients)

3.3 Installing licenses for BLF-Win using HiPath CTI

License management functions are provided under the License Management menu in HiPath CAP Management. The administrator can manage licenses for using the HiPath CTI system: install license keys, display available licenses, assign licenses to users, and uninstall license keys. Every BLF-Win Client is delivered with 1000 licenses. This means that it is possible to monitor up to 1000 station using one BLF-Win Client. If more than 1000 stations have to be monitored, additional BLF-Win Clients have to be ordered.

3.3.1 Install Licenses

Licenses are installed via license files. These license files are to be obtained from the same source as the HiPath CAP software. For Siemens customers, this normally will be the factory delivering the CDs. Based on the purchase and delivery information, the administrator will be able to contact a web site at the factory to have license files generated for download. In order to prevent misuse, license keys are tied to the MAC ID of the HiPath CAP Management host. This is why that MAC ID must be provided as well for license generation.

Please note that demo licenses are provided with the HiPath CAP delivery; these are not tied to a specific MAC ID, and are valid for a limited time period only.

1. Obtain the license file and store it locally at any convenient place.

2. Select Licenses, and activate Install in the navigation frame.

3. Specify the absolute path of the license file in the dialog box.

4. Click Install to have the license file analyzed and the new licenses activated.

3.3.2 Display Licenses

Select Licenses, and activate Show in the navigation frame.

A summary is displayed as shown below.

The Overview table contains information on licensed applications, number of installed licenses and number of licenses in use / available, per application. The Details table shows specific data on each of the installed license keys.

The MAC ID FF-FF-FF-FF-FF-FF is used to identify demo license keys. The period of validity is started by first application of a demo key; accordingly, the remaining period of validity is dis-played in the overview table in brackets, following the number of available licenses.

3.3.3 Assign Licenses

For assigning available licenses to individual users, two approaches are supported.

By default, users are granted a license implicitly when they log on to the system for the first time. The license is taken from the pool of available licenses and is assigned to the user (via user ID in HiPath User Management) from now on. If no license is available any more, the user cannot log on.

Alternatively, devices can be assigned licenses explicitly when they are created in HiPath De-vice Management (see Section 3.7, “Connection to CAP User management” on page 3-25) by the administrator. If no license is available any more, the administrator receives an error mes-sage during device creation.

1. Select Licenses, and activate Assign in the navigation frame to select the assignment policy.

2. For any of the available license keys / applications, tick "implicitly during register li-cense" to specify implicit assignment (first come - first served), or tick "at device ad-ministration" to specify explicit assignment (by administrator).

3. Click Save to confirm the selection.

3.3.4 Uninstall Licenses

It may be reasonable at some point in time to remove license keys that have been installed be-fore.

1. Select Licenses, and click on Uninstall in the navigation frame to uninstall licenses.

2. Select the application for which the license key is to be uninstalled.

3. In case you want to retrieve the licenses about to be uninstalled from the users who might have been assigned these licenses before, tick "Delete license from users".

4. Click Uninstall to confirm the action.

In order to operate BLF-Win 3.0 you need to install the software CAP V3.0 before.

You can find a description of the Installation and Administration of CAP V3.0 on the BLF-Win 3.0 CD in the ZIP file "CAP30_I885.zip"; this file contains the CAP V3.0 service guide. The file to look for is called "CAP30_SA_en.pdf" in the Documentation\CAP\ directory.

3.4.1 Configuration of CAP and the Connectivity Adapter

BLF Win V3.0 is a CSTA III ASN.1 multi domain / homogeneous application.

In the following only general steps are described to install BLF Win V3.0.

The detailed configuration steps of CAP and of the Connectivity Adapter are described in the service manuals "CAP Administration-Installation and "Installation and Problem Determination Guide for CA4000".

1. Beginning with step 4 in section Installing BLF-Win Server select „Demo“ and continue with step 9.

3.6.4 Uninstalling BLF-Win Client/Server

The uninstallation is always performed for one component only, i.e. either the server or the cli-ent are uninstalled.

Observe the following steps for uninstalling the BLF-Client; you’ll find information on the unin-stallation of the BLF-Server in brackets.

1. Click on Start and select Settings / Control Panel / Software.

2. Select the entry BLF-Win 3.0 Client (BLF-Win 3.0 Server).

3. Click on Change/Remove Programs. The program components are deleted.

4. If you create your own configuration files (*.blf) , they are normally stored in the directory Programs\Siemens\BLF-Win 3.0\Client\Settings. If you install a new client these configura-tion files are not overwritten.

>If BLF-Win Server and BLF-Win Client are installed on the same PC and only the Client is uninstalled, the entries in the Registry are also changed for the Server.If no new client is installed on that PC, you must execute the file server.bat in the directory Programs\Siemens\BLF-Win\3.0\Server in order to establish connections between other clients and the Server.

3.7 Connection to CAP User management

CAP V3.0 User Management information is taken over by the BLF-Win V3.0.

You have to setup a daily export from the CAP User Management.

1. Start the CAP Management (default: http://<cappcname>:8170)

2. Click on 'User Management' in the top menu

3. Choose the 'Scheduled Tasks' in the side menu

Now you see a list of scheduled tasks (or an empty list)

4. You have to create new tasks by clicking on the 'Create new timer' icon on the title bar.

5. Specify the fields, like you see in the following picture:

6. Make sure that BLF-Win shares the Database directory and you have to specify the Target directory to this (in the example \\pc0906sd\Database).

7. Save the settings.

After the time is over a file 'userExported.txt' will be created. This is the input for the BLF_UpdateDb.exe.

Note: If CAP V3.0 and the BLF-Win Server are running on different machines you have to make one more change:

To access this network share you have to modify the CAP V3.0 service 'Log on' parameter.

The program DS-Win can be used with BLF-Win from V2.1 KV07 Patch Release 3. Make the following changes in the program DS-Win:

1. In the Options menu->Designmode->Datagrid1 add the following entries:

● LinkToBLFName=BLF-Win - connected - <BLF config filename>It is essential that you enter the exact name which you can read in title bar of the BLF-Win Client provided the Client is connected to the Server. 3.10 BLF-Win Assistant

With the additional programm BLF-Win assistant it is possible to configure the index card with subscribers and ranges in an easy and fast way.

The installation of BLF-Win Assistant will be started after Server or Client installation as own setup. The user will be asked for installing BLF-Win Assistant. The installation can be also start-ed from the CD directly (..\Install\Assistant\Setup.exe).

3.11 Updatetool for .blf-files

If you want use existing BLF-Win V2.0 subscriber data in BLF-Win V3.0 you must convert these data before.

1. Terminate the old BLF-Win version.

2. Create a backup of the existing .blf files. They are stored in the install_dir\Client\Set-tings\*.blf. In the version 2.0 as default they are in the C:\Program Files\Sie-mens\BLF-Win 2.0\Client\Settings directory.

3. Install BLF-Win V3.0 and BLF-Win assistant. Than start BLF-Win assistant and convert the *.blf files. Terminate BLF-Win Client before.

4. Click on the 'Open' button to open the .blf file from the old version

The path and the file name will be shown right to the 'Open' button, also the first station number is visible on the right side.

5. Type in the prefix needed for the right communication with CAP V3.0. An example is visible on the GUI. In details:

● +36 specifies the country,

● (89) specifies the town (or area)

● 722 specifies the base number (or domain numbers).

When you type in the prefix the new number is visible on the right side at the same time.

Note that here you must define the canonical station number, because the BLF-Win V3.0 inter-act on the CAP V3.0 SCCP port (to communicate on this port only possible with the cannonical station number).

6. Click on 'Submit changes' button

The original file will be renamed to *_v20.blf, and the original file name will be displayed for the .blf file.

7. Copy the created .blf file into the C:\Program Files\Siemens\BLF-Win 3.0\Cli-ent\Settings (install_dir\Client\Settings) directory.

8. Now you can start the BLF-Win Client V3.0.

4.2 Installing BLF-Win with the feature Absence-Management

In order to use the feature „absence management“ at the BLF-Client the following requirements are necessary while installing BLF-Win V3.0:

1. An Outlook-Client must be installed on each BLF-Client.(see Section 3.5).

2. A valid eMail-address must be defined for each subscriber.

Note for clients who use BLF Win V3.0 with the option "AC-Win":If the above mentioned requirements do not exist, it is recommended to deactivate the fea-ture „Absence Management“ (see User Manual BLF-Win 3.0) when using the feature„BLF-Win with AC-Win“.

4.3 Uninstalling BLF-Win

You can delete BLF-Win from your computer as follows:

1. Click on Start and select Settings / Control Panel.

2. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.

3. In the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box, select the BLF-Win program from the list of programs on the Install/Uninstall tab.

4. Click the Add/Remove button to remove BLF-Win from your computer.

All of the files that were copied to your computer when BLF-Win was being installed are re-moved. The files that were added following installation of the software are not removed.

4.4 Running BLF-Win V3.0 Client on Windows XP SP 2 and Windows 2003 SP 1

With Windows XP Service Pack 2 (XPSP2) Microsoft introduced new security enhance-ments and policies to the operating system, which include a firewall enabled by default and the Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) infrastructure has additional access control restrictions.

As BLF-Win Client software actively uses DCOM to communicate with the server you need to make several settings in the operating system so that BLF-Win could work.

1. DCOM for XP SP2 Setup - Windows Firewall Settings

The Windows Firewall settings are found by going to Start->Settings->Control Panel and choosing the Windows Firewall icon.

● We suggest using the Windows Firewall and setting it to "On" as shown below.

● If you choose "Don't allow exceptions" you will not be able to use DCOM and there-fore BLF-Win . We suggest leaving this unchecked.

● If you choose "Off" you are turning off the firewall and you can skip the part of the DCOM configuration. This is NOT RECOMMENDED except for testing purposes or for internal networks which you have protected from attack in an other way. You take the responsibility if you turn off the Windows Firewall.

2. Click on the Exceptions Tab to perform two key steps:

1. Enable incoming and outgoing DCOM network access by opening TCP/IP port 135.

2. Enable BLF-WinClient access to DCOM

The screen below already has BLF-WinClient application enabled as an exception, and a port opened for DCOM.

3. Enabling DCOM

DCOM isn't associated with anything executable (unlike unlike your BLF-Win clients) so it is enabled by adding a port. Click on the "Add Port" button.

4. Fill in this dialog box exactly as shown above for DCOM to work. Port 135 is the standard Port number that DCOM uses. TCP must be checked. When done click OK.

If you choose to click on the Change scope button in the "Add a Port" Dialog, we recom-mend the setting above. Any change to this requires advanced knowledge of the network system you are using and is beyond the scope of this tutorial.

5. Enable BLF-Win Client Application

On the Windows Firewall Exceptions tab click on the "Add Programs" button. Using the dialog below, you can browse to the target application EXE on your hard drive to add it to the Exceptions list. No changes are required to the areas of setup accessed by the Change Scope button unless your vendor specific instructions suggest that you make a change there.

5 BLF-Win Admin

This chapter describes BLF-Win Admin. From here you can connect up any number of clients, carry out settings and trace events, for example errors.

5.1 BLF-Admin

1. Click Start->Programs->BLF-Win 3.0 Server->BLF-WinAdmin

A window is opened.

The tabs provide statistical information relating to the server:

● The number of server objects is the same as the number of clients (Server Part). The number of monitored objects of each client is displayed as well as the exchange of messages with CAP V3.0.

● The rest of the information relates to the clients. The number of tabs is the same as the number of clients (Client Part).

● BLF-Admin contains the same data relating to an individual client. If a client is closed, the appropriate tab disappears from this dialog box.

The figure below shows the Server Part and the Client Part.

5.2 Running BLF-Win V3.0 Server on Windows XP SP 2 and Windows 2003 SP 1

Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (XPSP2) introduced new security enhancements and policies to the operating system, which include a firewall enabled by default and the Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) infrastructure has additional access control restrictions.

As BLF-Win Server software actively uses DCOM to communicate with the client you need to make several settings in the operating system so that BLF-Win could work.

1. DCOM for XP SP2 Setup Step 1 - Windows Firewall Settings

The Windows Firewall settings are found by going to Start -> Control Panel and choosing the Windows Firewall icon.

● We suggest using the Windows Firewall. Click on the On radion button shown above.

● If you choose "Don't allow exceptions" you will not be able to use DCOM and therefore BLF-Win . We suggest leaving this unchecked.

● If you choose Off you are turning of the firewall and you can skip the part of the DCOM configuration. This is NOT RECOMMENDED except for testing purposes or for inter-nal networks which you know you have otherwise secured from attack. You assume responsibility if you turn off the Windows Firewall.

We recommend not to disable the windows firewall because of network security is-sues. Please ask your network administrator or TCP/IP security expert before dis-abling the windows firewall.

1. Next Click on the Exceptions Tab to perform two key steps:

– Enable incoming and outgoing DCOM network access by opening TCP/IP port 135.

– Enable DCOM communication with client program by opening TCP/IP port 5000.

– Enable BLFWin-Server access to DCOM

The screen below already has BLFWin-Server application enabled as exception, and two ports opened for DCOM.

2. Enabling DCOM

1. DCOM is not associated with any executable file (unlike BLF-Win Server) so it is en-abled by adding a port. Click on the the Add Port button.

2. You need to fill out this dialog box exactly as shown above for DCOM to work. Port 135 is the standard Port number that DCOM uses. TCP must be checked. When done click OK.

If you choose to click on the Change scope button in the Add a Port Dialog, we recom-mend the setting above. Any change to this requires advanced knowledge of the network system you are using and is beyond the scope of this tutorial.

3. Similarly to step 2, you have to open a port so that BLF-Win Server could communicate with the client program. Click again on the Add port button.

You need to fill out this dialog box exactly as shown above for DCOM to work. Port 5000 will be the port number that DCOM uses. TCP must be checked. When done click OK.

3. Enable BLF-Win Server Application

1. On the Windows Firewall Exceptions tab, click on the Add Programs button. Using the dialog below, you can browse to the target application EXE (typically this is C:\Pro-gram Files\Siemens\BLF-Win 3.0\Server\ BLF_Server.exe) on your hard drive to add it to the Exceptions list. No changes are required to the areas of setup accessed by the Change Scope button.

4. Setting the registry

Since the DCOM communication works in both directions, you have to make settings in the Windows registry. There are several registry settings that control the DCOM port restriction functionality.

1. The registry editor could be started by clicking Start - Run… and typing regedit.

2. Browse to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Rpc registry key, se-lect Rpc and create a new key called Internet by right-clicking on it.

3. Create three new values by right-clicking on the newly created Internet key:

– Ports, which have to be a Multi-String Value and its data should be set to 5000.

– PortsInternetAvailable, which have to be a String Value and its data should be set to Y.

– UseInternetPorts, which have to be a String Value and its data should be set to Y.

5. Set up DCOM security

1. Open Component Services, under Start - Control Panel - Administrative Tools. Expand the Component Services - Computers - My Computer - DCOM Config.

Summary:

● It is important that you add at least two ports for DCOM: one for standard DCOM commu-nications and another one to connect the clients.

● The firewall must treat BLF-Server.exe as an exception

● Set up DCOM with the help of registry editor to use the port given above.

● Set DCOM security on the machine.

● Set up the BLFServer component security.

● You have to do this on the Server PC that has XP SP2 installed.

5.3 DCOM settings for BLF Server running on Windows 2000

If the connection is refused even with the BLF Server not running on Windows XP SP2, the DCOM settings should be verified on other Operating systems .

5.3.1 Steps for setting up the DCOM for Windows 2000

1. First click on Start -> Run and then type “dcomcnfg”.

2. Click on OK.

3. In the “Applications” tab select BLFServer and click on Properties.

4. In the BLF Server Properties window opens (see picture above) click on the Security tab. Here are three permission types (Access permissions, Launch permissions and Configu-ration permissions). For Launch permissions do the following:

6. In the new opened window click on Add. Select the current computer name and give ac-cess to "Everyone" (see picture above). This means that every computer has access to the BLF application on this computer. Return to the "BLF Server Properties" window by clicking OK.

4. Enter the CAP 3.0-port number (configured SCCP interface) associated with the CAP V3.0-Adapter server. Check for validity using the CAP V3.0-settings.

5.5 Exiting BLF-WIN

1. Click on File in the menu bar.

A dialog box appears:

This menu item closes the server administrator user interface.

>If clients are connected, the server runs in the background. If no clients have been connected, the server switches off automatically.

5.6 Logs

5.6.1 Error logs

Every type of error that occurs while the connection is being established or while the monitor points are being set are logged.

This menu item has three functions the you can use to display, copy or delete the contents of the log files.

5.6.1.1 Displaying Errors

This function opens a Notepad file which lists all of the errors that occurred. You can view the log file contents and you can also trace the errors that occurred.

5.6.1.2 Copying Errors

This function copies all errors entered.

5.6.1.3 Clearing Errors

This function clears all errors entered.

This is where you can obtain information on the program.

1. In the menu bar click on Help.

Under the menu item Contents... F1 you can obtain information on how to use BLF-Win Admin and on the settings that are available. F1 is the shortcut key, i.e. you can access Help simply by pressing the F1 key.

6 Appendix

6.1 Installing, Configuring and Running pcANYWHERE

pcANYWHERE is a program which makes the remote maintenance of PCs possible. This prod-uct from SYMANTEC is included with the delivery.

You must install pcANYWHERE to enable remote maintenance of BLF. You will require a CPV Pico T V.34 modem (teleservice) to run pcANYWHERE.

It is very easy to install pcANYWHERE and the procedure only takes about 10 minutes.

6.1.1 Installing the Modem

Requirements:

● CPV Pico T V.34+ modem complete with the following:

– power supply unit,

– cable for connecting the modem and the PC terminal (25-pin to 25-pin/9-pin) and

– cable for connecting the modem and the telephone network (Western plug to TAE6)

● a free serial port on the PC terminal

● a free analog telephone connection (TAE6 socket outlet)

To install the modem, proceed as follows:

1. Connect the modem to the local grounded socket outlet.

2. Connect the telephone cable to the Western plug connector on the modem and to the local telephone outlet box.

3. Plug the connection cable into the 25-pin connector on the modem and into the 9-pin serial interface (e. g. COM1) on the PC terminal.

4. Set the DIP switch SW2/3 (on the rear of the modem) to OFF.

5. Send the following Hayes command to the modem (use the Hyperterminal program to do this - supplied with Windows NT):

AT &F &C1 S0=1 M0 &D3 &W &W1

6.1.2 Installing pcANYWHERE

The software is installed under Windows 2000 / Windows XP and requires at least 16 Mbytes free memory on the hard disk of the BLF PC.

1. Insert installation disk 1 of pcANYWHERE into the disk drive of the BLF PC.

2. Start the installation procedure by clicking on the file setup.exe on the installation disk.

3. Enter the required information (name, company) in the licensing window and confirm with the OK button. The installation program searches for older versions of pcANYWHERE and offers the di-rectory that it finds in the process as the installation directory. If an older version exists, the installation program suggests that you install the software in the directory c:\Program Files\pcANYWHERE.

4. Enter the required information (name, company) in the licensing window and confirm with the OK button.

The installation program generates the program group pcANYWHERE32.

6.1.3 Configuring pcANYWHERE

pcANYWHERE is configured under MS-Windows 2000 / Windows XP. It depends on the mo-dem you are using.

1. In the control panel of Windows NT 4.0 install the "CPV Pico T 14.4 Fax extern" modem.

2. To do this, click on the Modems icon.

3. Add a new modem.

4. To do this, use the option Don’t detect my modem I will select it from a list to select the manufacturer "CPV - Stollmann Datensysteme” and the "CPV Pico T 14.4 Fax extern” mo-dem.

5. Configure the selected modem on the COM1 port and conclude the setup procedure with Finish.

Configuring pcANYWHERE (Host)

1. Open pcANYWHERE32 via Start in Windows 2000 / Windows XP. Select Host mode to create a connection object for incoming remote control actions.

2. Generate a new host object by double-clicking the Add host object icon. Assign a name to the new object via the dialog window Properties such as BLF for example.

3. Set the "CPV Pico T 14.4 Fax extern" modem as the connection device and configure its properties via "Details".

– General tab:Max. speed: 38400

– Settings tab:Data bits: 8Parity: noneStop bits: 1

4. Click on OK and ignore the Options tab.

5. Exit the properties settings with OK.

6. Select the option "Start host automatically now" and exit the host mode wizard by clicking the Finish button.
