• WALTER MORY VIA FERRATA ENTRY: Ascent to the Krischahütte (1,670 m) marker 603; branch off to left to 1,450 metres above sea level. After about 10 minutes, the via ferrata begins at 1,530 m. The exit is located at the Feuerstelle (1,695 m) Another exit is provided about half-way along the via ferrata (1,600 m). The via ferrata can also be entered on the tour from the summit station via the Krischa. DIFFICULTY:: The via ferrata is almost entirely secured with metal cables; lateral passages and led-ges are provided with iron steps. No problem for experienced users, but surefooted-ness and a complete lack of vertigo are required. Climbing harness and helmet required! The use of ropes is highly advisable for weaker participants!

SUMMIT EXPERIENCE ON PETZEN At the eastern end of the Karawanken, to the south of Bleiburg, towers Petzen with the 2,126 m-high Kordeschkopf and the 2,113 m-high Feistritzerspitze being the highest elevations of this mighty limestone massif.

On board the Petzen cable car, you’ll ascend to 1,708 metres above sea level, from where you’ll have a stun-

ning view of the Jauntal valley as well as the mountains, hills and lakes of Carinthia. The recreational programme on and around Petzen is varied and ranges from mountain hiking, climbing and mountaineering to mountain biking or cycling to tandem flights with a paraglider and Discgolf on the mountain.

HIKING INFORMATION AND TIPS FOR ALPINE TERRAIN 1. Ensure you are physically fit for the mountains. 2. No mountain hiking without carefully planned tours. 3. Take only the right equipment with you for the planned tour and nothing else. 4. Appropriate footwear is a must. Only wear hiking boots when heading into open terrain.

5. Get information about the tour and weather conditions in advance.

6. Take a 10-minute break every two hours. 7. Drink and eat plenty during the tour. 8. Never leave the marked trail. 9. In case of danger or if the weather worsens, break off the tour immediately.

10. Each backpack should contain emergency equipment (First Aid box, mobile phone and torch). 11. They do not take breaks into account.
