physical & mental well-being.correct posture, exercise, proper food,
hygiene & rest are essential remaining
healthy. We obtain our food from animals and
plants.
Food Groups
We eat a verity of food.the food we eat contain 5 main components. Our body needs all these components to remain healthy.
CARBOHYDRATES
Carbohydrates provide energy to the body.Bread,rice,wheat are some examples of carbohydrates.Candies and soft drinks are also carbohydrates but they spoil are teeth.So it is much better to eat natural sources of carbohydrate such as fruits and whole grains.
FATS
Like carbohydrate fats too provide energy to the body.excess carbohydrate is converted into fats.Cheese,butter,milk are the examples of fats.Fats are essential but to much of fats can cause a condition called obesity.It can also cause heart diseases like diabetes.
PROTEINS
Proteins are essential for growth.Our body needs proteins for muscle building and for repairing worn-out tissues.
Chicken,fish,eggs,milk, cheese,pulses & Soya bean are some foods that are rich in proteins.
VITAMINS
Vitamins are needed in small amounts for the normal functioning of the body.
There are 13 vitamins needed by our body.Fruits,green leafy vegetables & eggs are some examples of protein
MINERALS
Minerals help in strengthening the bones and maintaining proper heat beat.Calcium,iron,iodine,and phosphorus are some important minerals.
A diet that contains adequate amount of components are called balanced diet.
