Sharma requested the media to study this serious issue so that it can be discussed in an informal manner before the public. The villagers alleged that motor of Harni PHE Pumping Station went out of order a week back. With this, the water supply to several adjoining vil- lages and hamlets has been affected. The matter was also brought to the notice of PHE staff at Mendhar Sub Division, but they claimed that fault per- tained to PHE Mechanical wing Poonch. The villagers urged upon the higher authorities at Poonch to ensure water supply to the area. The water supply at Upper Darana village which is affect- ed for the last about four weeks has also not been restored as its pumping station is also lying out of order. houses from outside hesitate toopen ventures in the State and asa result, it is facing the crisis ofunemployment and migration ofskilled and talented youth to therest of the country, he added.Academicians and experts fromthe rest of the country are discour-aged because of the Article tocontribute in the educationalgrowth of the State, he claimed.
He called upon the people ofJ&K to also look into the utility ofArticle 35A, claiming it was“most discriminatory” and differ-entiated between men and womenwith regard to their rights as citi-zen of the State.
Sharma slammed CoalitionGovernment for allowing the set-tlement of over 6,000 RohingyaMuslims in Hindu dominatedJammu region even as they havegot the work permits from theGovernment of India to carry outdifferent jobs in the State.
He asked the StateGovernment to take measures to“stop” the illegal settlement ofBangladeshi Muslims. He saidthat the Rohingya Muslims startedcoming to Jammu region over sixyears back and “over a period oftime their number has increased”.

NSF protests JU decision on introduction of tuition fee

JAMMU, Oct 2: NationalSecular Forum (NSF) todaystaged a demonstration againstauthorities of University ofJammu (JU) for adopting dis-criminatory approach againststudents by proposed introduc-tion of tuition fee for all itscourses from the academic ses-sion 2018-19.
Led by NSF State president,Dr Vikas Sharma, scores ofactivists raised slogans againstthe VC. Addressing the protest-ing activists, Dr Sharma said,“The varsity authorities havebeen spending crores of rupeeson their luxury out of the institu-tion’s exchequer and the same isdrying up fast. Now to make up
the same they have devised anew method i.e. introduction oftuition fee @ Rs 3000 forScience subjects and Rs 2000for Non-Science subjects overabove the annual hike of 10 per-cent in fee every since 2014.”
Stating that the move willput extra burden on thousands ofstudents studying in PG depart-ments and colleges affiliated toJammu University, Dr Sharmademanded withdrawal of resolu-tion of University Syndicate,which passed the Item No112.04 that sought the introduc-tion of tuition fee for UG, PG, MPhil and PhD programmes.

However, cross-LoC bus andtrade continued uninterrupted onUri-Muzaffarabad route inKashmir valley.
