He has some tactical speed and now moves to the MacRae barn as assistant trainer Mark Johnston is now part owner of the horse. #2 AMERICAN DRIVEN has been racing around two turns over the Tampa turf and doing well. In his most recent start he was able to hold second in spite of a three-wide, uncovered trip. The sprint distance and synthetic are obvious unknowns but he clearly has some ability. #6 CONQUER THE BREEZE ran okay in his first three starts but went completely off form at the end of the meet. His better races are competitive with this group. #3 CAPTAIN VINNIE has run a few respectable races, especially by this group’s standards. His last start was forgivable due to a wide trip. His two Penn National races were even efforts; he returns from five months off. #7 MARTEN LAKE had been a very tough top level claimer for quite a while, but was immediately shelved after being claimed for $40,000 in September. He plunges in for $15,000 now; if he is anywhere near his best he will be the clear horse to beat. #2 BIG LEAGUE makes his first start off of an $8,000 claim at Oaklawn. He was somewhat even in that race but has previously been a very handy horse at smaller tracks such as Turf Paradise and Canterbury. He has had some synthetic experience at Golden Gate; this will be the first time in his career that he will race without blinkers. His return on April 24 came in a five furlong dash on the Gulfstream turf where he did not break well from the rail. That race was topped by the extremely tough Tiger Blood; today he gets a longer sprint which is more favourable and doesn’t have to face anyone quite as good as Tiger Blood. #3 MAGIC TAPIT has been somewhat disappointing since his first level allowance win at Gulfstream in January 2019 in which he earned a 102 Beyer. His last race at Gulfstream was an okay third where he was outfinished over a sloppy track against a group that seemed a bit light for the class level. Blinkers come off. #5 INCLUSIVE was a first level allowance winner at Delaware last May but was unable to win any of the three year old Stakes he campaigned in. He came back to Woodbine for a start in a second level allowance where he finished fourth in a respectable group; this will be his first time sprinting since his career debut. #2 SPLIT MY PANTS raced primarily in turf routes last year but in his lone synthetic sprint, he was second behind the very nice Dixie’s Gamble. He will likely be at the back early. Race 4 #10 Capable #12 Pipestone #5 Saratoga Vision #11 Itskathiesluckyday #10 CAPABLE exits a string of midpack finishes in turf routes at Gulfstream. In her most recent start she had to check slightly going into the first turn, then was taken outside into the clear on the backstretch before finishing with a bit of interest back on the inside. #12 PIPESTONE showed some ability when racing here last fall. In her Gulfstream race she was getting a nice trip but had to check sharply going into the far turn and was effectively wrapped up on. That race is a cross out but it still leaves open the possibility that the blinkers could help her improve. #5 SARATOGA VISION was winless in nine attempts last season but ran a number of good races. If she is ready to fire one of her better races right off the bat she is a contender. #11 ITSKATHIESLUCKYDAY was non-competitive over the turf on debut but raced very well second time out when finishing fourth by two lengths in a route over this surface. She had some winter conditioning in South Carolina.

#1 Torah’s Blessing

#2 American Driven

#6 Conquer the Breeze

#3 Captain Vinnie

#1 TORAH’S BLESSING began to show some signs of

life in his last couple of starts last season. He has some

tactical speed and now moves to the MacRae barn as

assistant trainer Mark Johnston is now part owner of the

horse. #2 AMERICAN DRIVEN has been racing around

two turns over the Tampa turf and doing well. In his most

recent start he was able to hold second in spite of a

three-wide, uncovered trip. The sprint distance and

synthetic are obvious unknowns but he clearly has some

ability. #6 CONQUER THE BREEZE ran okay in his first

three starts but went completely off form at the end of the

meet. His better races are competitive with this group. #3

CAPTAIN VINNIE has run a few respectable races,

especially by this group’s standards. His last start was

forgivable due to a wide trip.

Race 2

#4 Drink in My Hand

#8 Souper Fly Over

#7 Marten Lake

#2 Big League

#4 DRINK IN MY HAND was in good form for the first half

of the 2019 meet but tailed off towards the end. He is a

horse who has had feet problems in the past which may

have flared up and caused the poor races last year. #8

SOUPER FLY OVER was a very successful $10,000

claim last season, winning a first level allowance going

long right off the bat and then winning two of these

starter/optional claiming races at sprint distances,

including one at five furlongs. His two Penn National

races were even efforts; he returns from five months off.

#7 MARTEN LAKE had been a very tough top level

claimer for quite a while, but was immediately shelved

after being claimed for $40,000 in September. He

plunges in for $15,000 now; if he is anywhere near his

best he will be the clear horse to beat. #2 BIG LEAGUE

makes his first start off of an $8,000 claim at Oaklawn. He

was somewhat even in that race but has previously been

a very handy horse at smaller tracks such as Turf

Paradise and Canterbury. He has had some synthetic

experience at Golden Gate; this will be the first time in his

career that he will race without blinkers.

Race 3

#6 Combative - Best Bet

#3 Magic Tapit

#5 Inclusive

#2 Split My Pants

#6 COMBATIVE stalked the pace and took command

impressively when winning his first level allowance in

November. His return on April 24 came in a five furlong

dash on the Gulfstream turf where he did not break well

from the rail. That race was topped by the extremely

tough Tiger Blood; today he gets a longer sprint which is

more favourable and doesn’t have to face anyone quite

as good as Tiger Blood. #3 MAGIC TAPIT has been

somewhat disappointing since his first level allowance

win at Gulfstream in January 2019 in which he earned a

102 Beyer. His last race at Gulfstream was an okay third

where he was outfinished over a sloppy track against a

group that seemed a bit light for the class level. Blinkers

come off. #5 INCLUSIVE was a first level allowance

winner at Delaware last May but was unable to win any of

the three year old Stakes he campaigned in. He came

back to Woodbine for a start in a second level allowance

where he finished fourth in a respectable group; this will

be his first time sprinting since his career debut. #2 SPLIT

MY PANTS raced primarily in turf routes last year but in

his lone synthetic sprint, he was second behind the very

nice Dixie’s Gamble. He will likely be at the back early.

Race 4

#10 Capable

#12 Pipestone

#5 Saratoga Vision

#11 Itskathiesluckyday

#10 CAPABLE exits a string of midpack finishes in turf

routes at Gulfstream. In her most recent start she had to

check slightly going into the first turn, then was taken

outside into the clear on the backstretch before finishing

with a bit of interest back on the inside. #12 PIPESTONE

showed some ability when racing here last fall. In her

Gulfstream race she was getting a nice trip but had to

check sharply going into the far turn and was effectively

wrapped up on. That race is a cross out but it still leaves

open the possibility that the blinkers could help her

improve. #5 SARATOGA VISION was winless in nine

attempts last season but ran a number of good races. If

she is ready to fire one of her better races right off the bat

she is a contender. #11 ITSKATHIESLUCKYDAY was

non-competitive over the turf on debut but raced very well

second time out when finishing fourth by two lengths in a

route over this surface. She had some winter conditioning

in South Carolina.

Race 5

#9 Forest Survivor

#10 Magic Spin

#1 Next

#3 Saskatchewan

#9 FOREST SURVIVOR was breezing in Ocala before

arriving here. He is the first foal to race for a dam who

won six of 18 career starts including her two year old

debut; Old Forester is a 15% two year old debut sire, and

this barn has been known to pop with a precocious one in

the past. #10 MAGIC SPIN got his foundation at the

Casse Training Center in Ocala before getting a quick

gate breeze here. His dam won on debut but her only foal

to race is winless in two starts; Twirling Candy is an 18%

two year old debut sire from a 183 start sample size. #1

NEXT has trained in Kentucky with a long string of

breezes over the Turfway synthetic. Wesley Ward has a

tremendous reputation with two year olds, but he has

been cold by his standards with his babies in Florida and

Kentucky to this point this year, so perhaps be leery at a

short price. #3 SASKATCHEWAN is by veteran sire More

That Ready (11% first time starting two year olds) out of

Ocean Drive, a tremendous mare who won Stakes races

at two, three and four. She has thrown a pair of Stakes

winners as a broodmare.

Race 6

#3 What’s the Rush

#4 Red Queen’s Court

#8 Let’s Have Fun

#7 Hidden Starlet

#3 WHAT’S THE RUSH returns from a 13-month layoff.

She may simply have no ability but she has had some

excuses; in her lone 2019 start she got caught dueling

into a headwind while helping set the race up for a

covered up closer. At a big price she may not be the

worst option. #4 RED QUEEN’S COURT was a winner on

debut when racing for this price but was DQd, then

continued to race well at the optional $40,000 level save

for one start over the inner turf. She looks like the likely

favourite. #8 LET’S HAVE FUN ran her best race on

November 10 when sitting back off of a three horse duel

and rallying past two of the tiring speed horses to get

place. The last two starts are forgivable, one was a route

and the other was a maiden allowance against, she will

likely prove to be a closing sprinter who relies on pace set

up. #7 HIDDEN STARLET broke slowly and was non-

competitive last week. She ran a handful of good races

as a juvenile and may offer value off of the recent poor

showing.

Race 7

#2 Tiz My Right

#6 Piquet

#5 Golden Garter

#4 Cindervella

#2 TIZ MY RIGHT cut back to a sprint eight days after

being claimed for $15,000 and finished a decent third with

no room from the ¼ to the ⅛ pole. She looks very

competitive with this group. #6 PIQUET won her first local

start in a soft group by a scant nose, but was able to step

up and continue to run well when facing tougher groups

in her next two attempts. #5 GOLDEN GARTER broke

her maiden in an off turf race where she was able to

control the pace throughout. In her most recent start she

was able to handle a soft group of $40,000 non-twos over

the Gulfstream dirt with a light 55 Beyer. She figures to

be on the lead here. #4 CINDERVELLA was winless in 12

starts last year but ran a number of good races

throughout the year and could round things out once

again.

Race 8

#4 Gray’s Fable

#1 Nashtrick

#7 Royal Laser

#8 Lion’s Goldenheart

#4 GRAY’S FABLE went wire to wire around two turns to

break his maiden over the Gulfstream turf, then ran a

valiant second behind the very classy, in-form Battle of

Blenheim. This is a much easier spot. #1 NASHTRICK

had serious Stakes potential as a two year old but has

obviously had issues that have limited that potential. His

race for $30,000 in New Orleans was a very good effort,

he’s a capable sprinter and if he’s at his best he can be

very tough. #7 ROYAL LASER is not a sprinter but is

fortunate to be catching a group primarily made of horses

that probably don’t want to sprint either. His competitive

starts behind horses like Cooler Mike and Silent Poet

absolutely make him worth consideration in spite of the

less than ideal distance. #8 LION’S GOLDENHEART is a

horse that has run surprisingly well at large odds quite a

few times. He doesn’t appear to be a sprinter either but in

this group of non-sprinters if he’s going to be a huge price

I would absolutely give him a shot to round things out.

Race 9

#5 Artemus Citylimits

#3 Clayton

#4 Malibu Mambo

#8 Muchmorethanthis

#5 ARTEMUS CITYLIMITS was very impressive in his

winning debut at Turfway, putting away a 4-5 favourite

dueling on the lead, losing the lead to a closer who was

able to come up the fence and then digging back in for

the win. He looks like he can break on top and control the

pace here. #3 CLAYTON looked like the horse to beat on

paper in yesterday’s Woodstock Stakes but was

scratched in favour of this spot instead. He figures to be a

heavy favourite here. #4 MALIBU MAMBO had a wide trip

in the Cup and Saucer but was otherwise tremendous

last year, winning his debut easily and just missing in the

Coronation Futurity with a wide rally. He may be one of

the more underrated Queen’s Plate hopefuls so far. #8

MUCHMORETHANTHIS also scratched out of the

Woodstock. He is the only two time winner in this group,

beating three foes in a first level allowance at Laurel last

fall; he kept tough company in his most recent start at

Gulfstream.

Race 10

#10 The Reign Man

#3 Torpedo Max

#11 Speedy Bolt

#6 Seguimi

#10 THE REIGN MAN was a good pace-stalking winner

on debut, then ended up third behind Dotted Line after

dueling around both turns in the Kingarvie. He trained in

South Carolina before returning here. #3 TORPEDO MAX

rallied impressively to win at first asking. In the Frost King

he was quite wide on the turn, looked like he was being

outfinished for the minor shares but came back on again

for third while no match for Dotted Line or Artie’s

Princess. He was gelded in December. #11 SPEEDY

BOLT had some trouble on debut in a race won by the

well-meant Silence Breakers, then returned to score an

easy four-length win. He will likely be racing from

midpack here. #6 SEGUIMI should appreciate returning

to the main track as he does not seem to offer much kick

when racing over the turf. He is likely a much better

router but he is not out of the question here.

Race 11

#12 Vesperanza

#9 Silent Causeway

#13 Linda Loves Lace

#2 Simply a Zoomer

#3 Queen’s Speed

#12 VESPERANZA was a serious wise-guy horse at the

start of last season but had an awful trip and failed to

threaten, then continued to finish on the edges, often with

frustrating trips. She has some ability and may have

caught a beatable group. #9 SILENT CAUSEWAY was

an okay fourth on debut at a big price. If she can build off

of that effort she could be a factor here. #13 LINDA

LOVES LACE raced wide and finished a good fourth

against a fairly respectable group on debut. Unfortunately

she’s at risk of another wide trip from this post. #2

SIMPLY A ZOOMER was in the entries back in October

of 2018 but was scratched, then resumed breezing in the

summer of 2019, finally now making the entries again,

this time in for $40,000. #3 QUEEN’S SPEED ran well in

her first two starts last year but came up flat when

returning on 14 days rest and adding blinkers; the

blinkers are removed.
