239 DRAFT EWES Smaller entry and a very fast trade and a lot more could have been sold, 15 pens realised over £100 to a top of £148 for a pen of Texel x from Phil Collett of Trevalga, followed by S Davey & Sons of South Petherwin who realised £146 for their 1st pen.

293 FAT LAMBS Smaller entry and on of the strongest trades seen in the South West this week, nationally the trade is back. Our well fleshed Lambs sold to a top of 242p for a pen of 44.2kgs £107 from Mr & Mrs C Burrow’s of Tredown, Welcombe. 8 Pens realised £110 and over to a top of 113 from two vendors, Simon & Robert Sluggett, Alvacott, and Mr A Pearce of Tresquare, St Tudy.

537 STORE LAMBS A flying trade from start to finish, 14 pens over £90 to a top of £94 for two pens of Texel x from Margo Goodenough of Davidstow, followed by Andrew Legassick of Torfields, Tavistock.

STORE CATTLE

A great day at Hallworthy with 470 Cattle through all together of 280 Stores, Mr G Start of

Gunnislake with a tremendous run of British Blue Steers and Heifers, the first four at 23

months super strong Steers to £1400 and the next four at £1350, and a younger group of five

to £1270. J Vokes of Lockengate next with a single Charolais x Steer with depth and flesh to

£1365 (19 months) and a showy Limousin x Steer to £1265. George Cowling of St Issey ran in

next with a stunning run of 30 Charolais x Steers at 16-18 months to a top of £1250 x4 ,

another four at £1215 and £1175. New man Mr Teague of Coombe, St Austell ran in close with

a superb pair of Hereford x Steers to £1240 and a single at £1175. Pengelly and Hoare next

with a pair of British Blue x Steers to £1180, with depth and muscle. C F Biscombe of Camelford

with their usual run of quality Herefords, saw their top to £1175 for four. N Jones of Callington

saw his run of Simmental and British Blue to £1085 for a pen of fleshy British Blues.

Heifers

A good run of Heifers today saw the Start Family run out top again with a powerful British Blue

x Heifer to £1185. Nick Jones next with a trio of well defined Simmental x Heifers to £1035. The

Deacon Family equalling this with a pen of Aberdeen Angus x Heifers to £1035. J Hooper of St

Gennys saw his fleshy four Charolais x Heifers away at a very strong £1030.

Cows and Calves

A few older Cows and Calves saw a top of £1130 for a Simmental x Cow and Hereford Bull Calf

for the Jasper Family.

More Cattle around next week and sale of 8 Pedigree Hereford Cows and Calves and Bull for N

Sanders.

STIRK REPORT

Another massive entry of nearly 150 Stirks in Hallworthy today topped at £680 for the best of the Limousins in from the Sleep Family of Launceston, with others to £570 and £560, with the best of their Angus to £610. Campell Hill up from Downderry had a pair of Limousin and Hereford Steers which went on to make £640, with other Herefords to £620 in from Katy Hoare of Tideford. Other Angus Steers in from Chris Eva of Helston, raced away to £590. George Parsons back in again with some younger Blues topping at £565 (5m) & £560 (8m). The Sleep Family back in again topping the Heifer section with the best of their Limousins to £660, with others at £580. Katy Hoare made £600 of her Blue Heifers with others at £425 and Campell Hill topped the Charolais at £590 (11m). Tom Angwin had a run of nice Stirks which topped at £570 for his Hereford Heifers.

REARING CALF REPORT

Another large entry of Rearing Calves in Hallworthy today topped with Alan and Kev Sanders again for the best of their BRB bulls to £388 with others to £362, £360 and their heifers to £288. Jo bass had the best of her BRB bulls to £358, and the Jones family’s BRB bulls reached £322. Michel Braunton topped the Limousins with his bulls to £230.
