Setting & Achieving your

goals

• Knowledge helps you to reach your

destination provided you know what

the destination is.

Page 3: Goal setting

What is the moral of the story ?

Page 4: Goal setting

• Unless we focus, we cannot achieve our goal.

It is hard to focus and concentrate, but it is

a skill that can be learned.

Page 10: Goal setting

The following examples fail

the test:

in the world, yet if he loses his

family and health, it is not worth

it, is it?

Goals Should Be Consistent

with Our Values

• Obstacles are those frightful

things you see when you take your

eyes off your goal.

Page 12: Goal setting

Importance of Goals

• No task can be completed without a goal

• The only component of an activity that can single handedly throw it out of place

• Focus/Concentration significantly improves results

• Roads

• Football

– “If people won’t sit in a train without knowing its destination then why would they go through life without having any goals”

Goal Scrutiny

• Every goal must be evaluated in the light of:

– Is it the truth?

– Is it fair to all concerned?

– Will it get me goodwill?

– Will it get me health, wealth, and peace of mind?

– Is it consistent with my other goals?

– Can I commit myself to it?

Page 15: Goal setting

Examples which fail the evaluation tests

• Survive with just good health and no money

• Only money but no family and friends

• Earn money through illegal practices

– “Goals without action are empty dreams. Actions turn dreams into goals Delay does not mean defeat. It only means one has to re-plan to accomplish one's target”

Activity is Not the Same as Accomplishment

John henry Fabre

Do not Confuse Motion and Progress.A rocking chair keeps moving but covers no distance

Processionary caterpillars experiment

If we confuse Activity with Accomplishment, we could be making great time but we don’t know our Destination.

MEANINGLESS GOALS

A good plan executed now is better than a perfect plan next week.- Gen George S.Patton,Jr.

Many times we have totally useless Goals and we end up losing our Energy in lifeDog sitting by the roadside corner, chasing cars and finds none!

Many times in life we keep behaving like dog chasing totally useless goals and losing energies in life.
