New Addition to the McLean Family
We welcome Mr McLean back from his two weeks paternity leave, I’m sure he
has had many sleepless nights over the past two weeks and many more to
come. Baby Lucas Alexander Russell McLean was born on August 28 weighing
8pounds 7, 52.5 cm long.
His big sister Rose apparently isn't adjusting too well with the new addition and
keeps asking when is he going back! Congratulations to the McLean family!

Enrolment Guidelines Fathers Day Stall
Thank you to all the parents and carers
that helped in the father’s day stall and to
everyone that attended the breakfast on
Friday morning.
The Department of Education’s Enrolment of Students in Government Schools: A summary and Consolidation of Policy requires schools to determine the school’s enrolment capacity to cater for anticipated local demand and to ensure that every eligible child has a place at his or her local school if she or he chooses to attend it. A copy of the Glendale East Public School Enrolment Policy and School Intake Zone map is located on the school website. The primary criterion for acceptance of non local enrolments is the availability of permanent classroom accommodation. Glendale East Public School has reached its enrolment ceiling (projected 2016) based on permanent classrooms. Glendale East Public School has complied with the above policy and there are no vacancies currently available for non local students, without a current sibling enrolled at the school, to be enrolled into Kindergarten for 2016. Please be advised, if a student is enrolled at Glendale East Public School with a residential address inside the school’s intake zone, and then their family moves to a new residential address outside the intake zone, younger siblings are not guaranteed enrolment at Glendale East Public School in future years. Local Enrolments –Proof of Address Glendale East Public School requires two documents as proof of address for students who live in the school intake zone. These are: ·A council rates notice or residential lease; and ·An electricity or water account. If you have any questions about enrolments please contact the school.
Have a safe and relaxing holiday to all members of the Glendale East community. School resumes for all students in term 4 on Tuesday 6
th
October 2015.
PSSA Netball Finals Soccer Finals
The Glendale East Public School Netball
teams, both Junior and Senior,
represented our school last Friday the
11th September at Cardiff netball courts
The junior team lost their first game to
Cardiff but won their second game
against Edgeworth Heights to place third
in the PSSA competition. The girls
showed an amazing level of growth from
their first game in Term 2 and showed
wonderful team work leading into the
finals.
The senior team drew their first game
against Plattsburg however they were
higher than Glendale East on the ladder
so unfortunately we only just missed out
on the Grand Final. The won their second
game against Cardiff which also placed
the senior team in third position overall.
The senior team displayed amazing skill
throughout the competition and were
fantastic role models for our juniors.
I have thoroughly enjoyed coaching both
netball teams this year! Thank you to the
parents who have supported our teams at
different games during the season. It is
wonderful for the students to hear your
positive support on the side lines. An
even bigger thank you to the girls. I have
enjoyed every training session and game
with you all and hope to see some of you
back next year.
On Friday 4th September, GEPS junior
and senior soccer teams travelled to
Federal Park to compete in the PSSA
finals day. Both teams played two games
with our junior team defeating Cardiff in
the semi-finals allowing them to progress
to the grand-final. The senior team had a
draw against Cardiff North in the semi-
finals but progressed through to the finals
based on a higher points score leading in
to the game. Two exciting grand-finals
followed with the juniors outplaying
Cardiff North and the seniors defeating
Cardiff in a nail biting game. Our players
were so proud to return to school with
two trophies! Well done to both teams,
we are so proud of you! Also, an
enormous thank you to Mrs Davey and
Mr Munro for their coaching expertise
over the season.

Woolworths Earn and Learn is
over for 2015
Trivia Night
Teddy Bears Picnic
As you know, our school has been participating in the Woolworths Earn & Learn program. The program has now finished for this year, so a big thanks to everyone who supported our school. We're now at the important stage of the program where the Sticker Sheets are collected and lodged as our Earn & Learn claim. We will then be able to get new educational equipment for our school. The more we collect, the more we can redeem. So this week, please send in your Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker Sheets and any loose Earn & Learn stickers you may have. Remember to check your handbag, the car glove box or they maybe stuck on the fridge. Every little bit helps. Thanks again for all your support
The school’s Trivia night will be held on
Saturday 10th October at Cardiff RSL.
Teams of 10! See Nadine Davey to
organise your place now.
Positive Behaviour for Learning
Last week, 4 of our teachers attended
Positive Behaviour for Learning training.
This is a school wide program that defines
a shared vision for the expected
behaviours of our children at school.
Soon, surveys and notes will be sent
home. Please take the time to complete
these surveys as they will give us
valuable input into forming our core
values.
Thank you to the parents who joined the students from KE and K1M for their Teddy Bear’s Picnic. The weather was absolutely perfect! The students and their teddies thoroughly enjoyed going on a bear hunt, playing teddy games, enjoying lots of delicious food.

News from 1/2C
Wow! What a productive and fantastic term we have had in 1/2C! We enjoyed our visit to Life Education with Healthy Harold, Book week parade, school athletics carnival, our whole school production ”A night at the Oscars” and Stage One Toy exhibition. We certainly have been busy! As well as working hard in our maths and literacy groups, students have been investigating toys and games of the past in comparison to present toys and games. We have been studying the junior novel “Toy Story” and using the Super Six Comprehension strategies to deepen our understanding of the text. We even created our own lego characters! Students presented their toy projects on Monday to students and families. Congratulations to all students on your creativity and enthusiasm. In PDHPE, we have been exploring the healthy food plate and developing our fundamental movement skills during basketball on Fridays.

Senior Touch Football Gala Day
Students in Years 5 and 6 participated in a Touch Football Gala Day yesterday at the Newcastle Trotting Track. All students had a fantastic day displaying their skills on the touch park. the senior boys team won 3 of their 4 games and worked well as a team to score some amazing tries. The senior girls team had a great day and won 2 of their 4 games. It was fantastic to see many of our girls trying a new sport and using their side step and passing skills to score their tries. It was a wonderful day in the sun and the support that both teams gave each other really displayed our school comradeship. Thank you to the parent support that we had during the games. We are lucky to have a great community at Glendale East Public School!
