    General Motors: Weight Loss Diet Program

    The following diet and health program was developed for employees and dependentsof General Motors, Inc. and is intended for their exclusive use. This program wasdeveloped in conjunction with a grant from U.S. epartment of !griculture and the"ood and rug !dministration. It was field tested at the #ohns $op%ins &esearch

    'entre and was approved for distri(ution (y the )oard of irectors, General Motors'orp. at a general meeting on !ugust *+, *-+. General Motors 'orp. whollyendorses this program and is ma%ing it availa(le to all employees and families. Thisprogram will (e availa(le at all General Motors "ood Service "acilities. It ismanagements intention to facilitate a wellness and fitness program for everyone.

    This program is designed for a target weight loss of */0*1 l(s per wee%. It will alsoimprove your attitudes and emotions (ecause of its cleansing systematic effects.

    The effectiveness of this seven day plan is that the food eaten (urn more caloriesthan they give to the (ody in caloric value.

    This plan can (e used as often as you li%e without any fear of complications. It is

    designed to flush your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well (eing. !fterseven days you will (egin to feel lighter (ecause you will (e lighter (y at least */ l(s.2ou will have an a(undance of energy and an improved disposition.

    During the first seven days you must abstain from all alcohol. You mustdrink 1 glasses of !ater each day.

    Day "ne!ll fruits except (ananas. 2our first day will consist of all the fruits youwant. It is strongly suggested that you consume lots of melons the first day.3specially watermelon and a loupe. If you limit your fruit consumption to melons,your chances of losing three l(s. on first day are very good.

    Day #!o !ll vegeta(les. 2ou are encouraged to eat until you are stuffed with all the

    raw or coo%ed vegeta(les of your choice. There is no limit on the amount or type. "oryour complex car(ohydrate, you will start day two with a large (a%ed potato for(rea%fast. 2ou may top the potato with one pat of (utter.

    Day #hree ! mixture of fruits and vegeta(les of your choice. !ny amount, any4uantity. 5o (ananas yet. 5o potatoes today.

    Day $our)ananas and mil%. Today you will eat as many as eight (ananas and drin%three glasses of mil%. This will (e com(ined with the special soup, which may (eeaten in limited 4uantities.

    Day $ive Today is feast day. 2ou will eat (eef and tomatoes. 3at two */ o6. portionsof lean (eef. $am(urger is 78. 'om(ine this with six whole tomatoes. 7n day five

    you must increase your water inta%e (y one 4uart. This is to cleanse your system ofthe uric acid you will (e producing.

    Day %i&)eef and vegeta(les. Today you may eat an unlimited amount of (eef andvegeta(les. 3at to your hearts content.

    Day %evenToday your food inta%e will consist of (rown rice, fruit juices and all thevegeta(les you care to consume.

    Tomorrow morning you will (e */0*1 l(s. lighter than one wee% ago. If you desirefurther weight loss, repeat the program again. 2ou may repeat this program as oftenas you li%e, however, it is suggested that you are allowed two glasses of white winein addition to the instructions on the program. 2ou may su(stitute champagne forwhite wine.     The following soup is intended as a supplement to your diet. It can (e eaten anytime of the day in virtually unlimited 4uantities. 2ou are encouraged to consumelarge 4uantities of this soup.

    2ou have (een given a recipe for the =753& S7U@, which can (e eaten inunlimited 4uantities. This soup is a supplement while you are on the program and itshould (e a pleasure to eat. 5ot everyone li%es ca((age, green peppers, celery etc.This recipe is not inflexi(le. 2ou may su(stitute vegeta(les according to your taste.

    2ou may add any vegeta(les you li%eC asparagus, peas, corn, turnips, green (eans,cauliflower, etc. Try to stay away from (eans 9lima, pinto, %idney, etc.:, however,(ecause they tend to (e high in calories even though they are very good for you.

    Day #!ostarts with a fix of complex car(ohydrates coupled with an oil dose. This ista%en in the morning for energy and (alance. The rest of day two consists ofvegeta(les, which are virtually calorie free and provide essential nutrients and fi(re.

    Day #hree eliminates the potato (ecause you get your car(ohydrates from thefruits. 2ou system is now prepared to start (urning excess pounds. 2ou will still have

    cravings, which should start to diminish (y day four.

    Day $our, (ananas, mil% and soup sound the strangest and least desira(le. 2oure infor a surprise. 2ou pro(a(ly will not eat all the (ananas allowed. )ut they are therefor the potassium you have lost and the sodium you may have missed the past threedays. 2ou will notice a definite loss of desire for sweets. 2ou will (e surprised howeasy this day will go.

    Day $ive, )eef and tomatoes. The (eef is for iron and proteins, the tomatoes are fordigestion and fi(re. ?ots and lots of water purifies your system. 2ou should noticecolourless urine today. 2our allowance calls for the e4uivalent of five 4uarterponders. o not feel you have to eat all this (eef. 2ou must eat the six tomatoes.

    Day %i& is similar to day five, Iron and proteins from (eef, Bitamins and fi(re fromvegeta(les. )y now your system is in a total weight loss inclination. There should (ea noticea(le difference in the way you loo% today, compared to day one.

    Day %even finished off the program li%e a good cigar used to finish off Bictorianmeals, except much healthier. 2ou have your system under control and it shouldthan% you for the flushing and cleaning you just gave it.
