With every cup, they strive to bring both their heritage and exceptional experiences to life. Not every provider had the ability to automate the program, and it is a huge win for us that Global Cash Card made the automation easy. Brent R. Gow, CPP Director, Global Payroll Starbucks Corporation Situation Starbucks deals daily with the challenges of having a vast number of stores located all over the country. As a result, it was critical for Starbucks to have their pay delivered on time without any delay due to weather or unforeseen events. In 2013, they faced major logistical issues with overnight delivery services and the volume of paychecks that needed to be distributed. This was an eye opener to many throughout the company. In addition to solving these issues, they were also looking for cost savings and escheatment reduction. Implementation The Global Cash Card Field Support Team designed a pilot program for six locations. When selecting the stores to be involved in the test, Starbucks looked at where they could mandate the program, which states were most disaster prone, and which had the most difficulty getting pay to employees. Global Cash Card provided in-person training at the corporate office so that the team would understand entirely how the paycard works. In addition, since cards were to be mailed to the participating stores, Global Cash Card wanted to verify everything was properly recorded. Training was provided to all employees via detailed, customized training packets. These packets were sent to all store locations through the communications team. It was crucial to prove the program was self-explanatory since Starbucks has a vast network of stores. A roll-out was completed without intensive, in-person training, which demonstrated how easy the Global Cash Card paycard program was to implement. Results A dramatic benefit of this program became clear when Texas went live. In spite of various delivery issues, all employees on paycards were paid automatically on payday. To date, electronic pay within Starbucks is up from 70% to 82%. As part of the next phase of the roll-out, they have a goal of 90% electronic pay. Summary Starbucks had such a successful experience with the paycard program from Global Cash Card that they have currently rolled it out in 22 states. They have also found that their employees greatly appreciate the service. Some of their employees on direct deposit have elected to use a Global Cash Card paycard for their discretionary spending. Others use it for their children in college because it helps them to budget their expenses. Additionally, the Global Cash Card paycard program has dramatically helped to automate the payroll process. With the new program, Starbucks sends Global Cash Card new hire information, Global Cash Card creates a paycard for the employee and then sends the information back to the payroll system, eliminating input errors. The automation of the Global Cash Card paycard system makes payroll simple and easy at Starbucks. 888-220-4477 Ext. 202 globalcashcard.com Starbucks Case Study We Make Payments Easy 704R5020617

Whatever Global Cash Card tells you about their customer service, they exceed your expectations. In all honesty, the hardest part of other programs is often getting a hold of someone. Another reason Global Cash Card was top of the list, was the ability to do Visa and MasterCard, and they had a tremendous technology that could accommodate our automation. Not every provider had the ability to automate the program, and it is a

huge win that Global Cash Card made the automation easy.
