Since I was on travel, Jerry Clement conducted our monthly meeting at Win Chevrolet. Afterwards, members enjoyed pizza & beer at Shakey’s Pizza. Oh yeah, Dennis had a salad.

Sept 19-Oct 1 --- Lee & Diane Feher propose a 12 day Alaska cruise aboard the Star Princess. The cruise leaves from the Port of Los Angeles, in San Pedro and returns to the same port. November 10-12 --- Club Run with Jack Walter and Jerry Clement. (Saturday-Monday). “California Highs to Lows” cruising to Lone Pine and Death Valley National Park. Monday’s return will feature the 1st Annual “Desolate Desert Run” for those who wish to explore their Corvette’s potential. This run celebrates the conclusion of the 3rd year of Monday Driver’s Club Runs.
December 8 --- Holiday Party at The Green Onion Mexican Restaurant in San Pedro. Cocktails at 5pm and dinner at 6pm. $25/person. Checks made to The Vette Set.
February 2, 2019 --- Awards Banquet at Admiral Risty’s Restaurant in Palos Verdes Estates
Postponed: Monday Driver’s Club led by Jack Walter to Rubel’s Castle in Glendora. Cost for the tour is $10/person with the Glendora Historical Society. Tour is followed by lunch and optional twistys. Meet at 8:30am at Krispy Kreme, 1199 Artesia Bl in Gardena.

DETROIT (August 1, 2018) –Corvette Racing’s next stop in 20th season campaign is a track that is universally praised by not just everyone on the team, but in sports car racing in general. Here are a few fun facts and trivia as Corvette Racing returns to Road America for the 17th time…
1: As in one team, one manufacturer and one model of car for 20 years: Corvette Racing, Chevrolet and the Chevrolet Corvette.
3: Generations of Corvette Racing entries at Road America since 2004 – Corvette C5-R (2002-2004), Corvette C6.R (2005-13) and Corvette C7.R (2016-current).
3: Consecutive GTLM runner-up finishes for Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen coming into Road America.
4: Number of cars Tommy Milner passed in the final 15 minutes of the 2016 race. He and Oliver Gavin went on to win in class and capture the GTLM title.

With a top score of 83.5 points, Corvette earned bragging rights by racking up the points ithin seven criteria including profit margin; labor; research and development; inventory, capital and other expenses; engine; transmission; and body, chassis and electrical components.

Any Check written by the Treasurer for more than $250 must be verbally approved by the President, or by the Vice President if the President is unavailable.
9,921.69: Number of racing miles completed by Corvette Racing in its 16 previous trips to Road America. That represents 2,453 laps or 150 trips from Gen. Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee to the track.
278,214.60: Total number of racing miles completed by Corvette Racing since its inception. To put that in perspective Apollo 13 – the longest manned spaceflight in history –covered “just” 248,655 miles.

50/50 DRAWINGS July Monthly Meeting
This month, Reata and Dennis collected $180 for the 50/50 drawing. The lucky winners were Sharon and Pat ($90) and the club ($90).

HISTORICAL REPORT
The club had a picnic and fundraiser from 1-4pm at Hesse Park in Rancho Palos Verdes. Members brought car-related items to sell with 50% of the sale going to seller & 50% to the club. The club provided main dishes, paper plates, napkins, utensils, and cups. Members brought lawn chairs, side dishes to share, and drinks, along with car-related items for the fundraiser.
