3/12/15 To Whom It May Concern: I am very excited about the opportunity to work in leadership development. In my opinion, there is no more important position than that of developing future leaders, because our future depends directly on their success. As the Regional Leadership Champion for Walmart, my primary task is to change blasé leaders into leaders of inspiration. To inspire people to think beyond the problems, I developed a leadership lesson where associates set up a tent blindfolded. The leader is allowed to see, while the other participants are blindfolded, and are the “hands” that put the tent together. This activity goes well when the leader uses a servant leadership model, instead of using fear and intimidation. When we complete the activity, there is a rich discussion to tie the learning from building the tent back to leadership. People remind me of this lesson years later. I will make an immediate impact by increasing the confidence and understanding that your leaders exude. Confidence is connected to self-esteem, and as Sam Walton put it: “Outstanding leaders go out of their way to boost the self-esteem of their personnel. If people believe in themselves, it's amazing what they can accomplish.” Let’s accomplish amazing things through the people we develop! Respectfully, Gavin Zeff 720-404-6349 [email protected]
