AYER (EDWIN) FAMILY PAPERS #1039,1223,1469,1692,2020

Guide

Colonial American family who emigrated from England in 1637 and settled in Saybrook,,_, Connecticut. Some members of the family came to California by way of Cape Horn in 1849. Later decendants moved to Washington state.

The papers include mostly correspondence among family members, ca. 1700-1950. The principal subject matter is family news with accounts of the family's business at Saybrook~ during the 1700 and 1800 1s. There are 13 charts citing family genealogy from mid 16th century to the end of the 19th century. There are some legal documents (primarily land deeds, 1664-1902). A small group of financial records, 1775-1902, includes accounts of land purchases, sales, family business and other miscellaneous matters.
