Overall Conference Theme
The theme of the symposium was the science and practice of people-centred health systems, chosen to enable participants to address current and critical concerns of relevance across countries in all parts of the world. Over 1800 researchers, policy-makers, funders, implementers and other stakeholders, from all regions and all socio-economic levels, worked together on the challenge of how to make health systems more responsive to the needs of individuals, families and communities.
Ebola Outbreak
• The Ebola outbreak began in West Africa in February 2014
• WHO declared it a Public Health Emergency on the 08th of August 2014
Summary of the outcome
• 1838 delegates attended the Symposium • International Foundations & Sponosors that supported : - Rockefeller Foundation - Unicef Foundation - Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation - South African Department of Health - WHO • We received 2350 submissions of which 1300 were rejected
There were 740 poster presentations
• Target surplus for the Association to continue – achieved!!
