Paid Lunch Equity Requirement

• Public Law 111-296 ensures schools are providing adequate support for paid lunches served to students

• When the average paid lunch price is less than the difference between the free and paid federal reimbursement rates an adjustment is required

• An increase to paid lunch prices and/or a payment from a non-federal funding source

• Recommendation to Governing Board for $.10 price increase was not approved in spring 2012

• As a result, M & O supplement for food services through SY12-13 - $35,000

• Projected M & O requirement for SY13-14 would be $16,000 without a paid meal price increase
