Or start your adventure in Puerto Rico going shopping to the biggest and most important mall in the Caribbean, Plaza Las Americas.

Old San Juan is the second oldest city in the Americas and has the biggest and most important natural harbor in the Caribbean. You can enjoy the magni�cent colonial plazas and buildings, fantastic shopping, great restaurants, its fortresses and the world famous El Morro Castle. Walking the cobblestone streets of this old city alone by itself is an unforgettable experience.

• San Felipe del Morro Castle and Fort San Cristobal (San Juan National Historic Site) – Administered by the National Park Service. Entrance fee $5. Explore the largest fortress built by the Spaniards in the New World; visit the dungeons, tunnels, sentry boxes and experience how the Spanish soldiers lived while defending the city walls and harbor from pirates, corsairs and buccaneers.

• Route of San Juan Bautista (St. John the Baptist) – For those interested in the rich religious tradition, history and culture of the old city, this is the tour you’ll need! 4 hours. Pop Corn Tours provide this tour. For more information call 787-765-1776.

• Walk by your own and explore – Simply relax and walk through the cobblestone streets, visiting the shops, restaurants, cafes, parks and museums the old city has to o�er.

• Casa Bacardi (Cataño) – Situated across the bay in the municipality of Cataño, you can visit the largest rum distillery in the world. Enjoy an interactive tour through history and learn the rum production process. Entrance fee $12

• Dinner in the evening in Old San Juan – Many world famous restaurants are located in Recinto Sur, Fortaleza, San Francisco, Del Cristo and San Sebastian Street, Puerto Rican and International Cuisine for all tastes.

• National Gallery – �is museum is located in a XVI century Dominican convent. It contains paintings by Puerto Rican masters, like Jose Campeche and Francisco Oller, among other national treasures from the XVII to XX century. Open from Tuesday to Saturdays, from 9:30AM to 5:00PM. Closed on lunch hours 12:00M -1:00PM.

• Architectural Tours of Old San Juan and its forts – Fun, historically accurate tours based on the fascinating facts, rich history and unique architectural features of Old San Juan. Pop Corn Tours provide this tour, for more information cal 787-765-1776.

• Museum of the Americas – �is museum is located in the second level of Cuartel Ballajá, the last and largest structure built by the Spaniards in the XIX Century in the New World. Open from Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00AM to 4:00PM and on Sunday from 12:00PM to 5:00PM. Closed on Mondays.

• Plaza del Mercado Santurce, also known as La Placita – Is a market square very popular among locals and among tourists as well. Has been in business for more than 100 years. At night is one of the most popular places to hang out and spend a great time enjoying the “�esta” atmosphere only Puerto Rico o�ers.

• Museum of Art of Puerto Rico – Located in the neighborhood of Santurce, near the tourist zone of Condado and Isla Verde. Contains one of the largest collections of Puerto Rican art dating back from the XVIII Century to the present. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00AM to 5:00PM and Sunday from 11:00AM to 6:00PM. Closed on Mondays.

• Plaza Las Americas – �e largest shopping mall in the Caribbean, Plaza Las Americas has more than 300 stores in 1.8 million square feet of commercial space. Just 10 minutes away from the tourist zones of Old San Juan, Condado and Isla Verde.

Check-out from your hotel in the morning and head west to Guánica. Guanica was the entry point of both, the Spanish in the early 16th century and the Americans at the end of the XIX century. Guanica is famous for its harbor, dry forest and beauti-ful natural reserves.

Driving time: 2 hours

Optional:

• Guánica Dry Forest (Guánica) – A World Biosphere Reserve, it’s as subtropical dry forest located in the southwest, is the best example of a dry forest in the Caribbean. Ideal for bird watching; you can �nd also beautiful beaches, picnic areas and a visitor center.

• El Faro Ruins (Guánica) – Part of the Guanica Dry Forest, this ruin was a Spanish colonial lighthouse. �e walls and the core of the lighthouse are still standing, but the immediate area is fenced o�. �e lighthouse marked the entrance to Guanica Bay. It was listed in the United States National Register of Historic Places.

• Gilligan Island (Guánica) – Cayo Aurora, also known as Gilligan’s Island, is part of the Biosphere Reserve of Guanica and managed by the Department of Natural Resources (DRNA). �e water around the island is crystal clear, very good for snorkeling. Arrangements to get there can be made in the hotel.

Check-out from your hotel and head to the city of Ponce. Ponce is the second most important city in Puerto Rico outside the metropolitan area and features many points of interest for visiting tourists.

Driving time: 40 minutes

Optional:

• Ponce City Tour – Visit the famous Parque de Bombas or �rehouse ; here you’ll get the tickets for the Ponce Trolley for just $2 and the trolley will take you to a ride visiting Plaza de Las Delicias, Our Lady of Guadalupe Cathedral, plenty of museums, churches, “Ponce Creole” architectural style homes, fountains and the picturesque neighborhoods that makes Ponce a destination within the destination. Aprox. 3 hour tour.

• Serrallés Castle – Constructed in the 1930’s on a hill that overlooks the entire city of Ponce, is a visual testament to the sugar-boom in the early 20th century that made many families in Ponce very rich. It’s a masterpiece of Spanish Revival architecture.

• Cruceta del Vigía (Watchman Cross) – It’s a 100 foot-tall cross shaped observation post that over looks the entire city of Ponce and the Caribbean Sea. It houses a visitor center and a horizontal sky-bridge with a wonderful panoramic view. Free admission.

• La Guancha Boardwalk – Day and night entertainment and a great place to mingle with locals. Free admission.

• Caja de Muerto Island or Coffin Island – “Superb beaches” – Need to take a boat for an unforgettable experience in a secluded island in the Caribbean facing the city of Ponce.

• Hacienda Buena Vista – Historic site. A 19th Century co�ee plantation or hacienda and living museum. Reservations are required. Very educational and entertaining.

• Tibes Indian Ceremonial Park – Historical site. Is the largest Indian Ceremonial Center in the Caribbean and the best preserved; you can go back through time and live the experience of a typical Indian Village in the Caribbean before the arrival of Christopher Columbus. Open from �ursday to Sunday.

• Plaza Del Caribe (Shopping Mall in Ponce) – �is shopping mall is the largest and most important in the southern region of Puerto Rico. It has over 140 stores, including local, American and European stores. Open Monday to Saturday 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM and Sundays 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM.

• El Portal del Yunque Information and Visitors Center – El Yunque National Forest (Rio Grande) – �is information center is located just o� road #191 on the way up to the El Yunque National Forest, following the Mameyes River above the tiny town of Palmer. Open from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM

• El Yunque Rainforest (Río Grande) – Is the only rainforest in the U.S. National Park Service System. El Yunque has been a Federal Forest Reserve for over a century. Originally set aside in 1876 by the Spanish Crown, the forest represents one of the oldest reserves in the Western Hemisphere.

• La Monserrate or Luquillo Beach (Luquillo) – Is one of the most popular and beautiful beaches in Puerto Rico. As background you have El Yunque Rainforest. �is world famous beach is certi�ed as a Blue Flag Beach. You can combine a visit to El Yunque Rainforest in the morning and in the a�ernoon enjoy Luquillo Beach.

• Bioluminescent Bay at Las Croabas (Fajardo) – A main attraction that distinguish Puerto Rico as unique among the rest of the islands in the Caribbean. Las Croabas is one of the three bioluminescent or glowing bays in the island of Puerto Rico. Have a magical experience with the mysterious blue-green light in the water. • Las Cabezas de San Juan Nature Reserve (Fajardo) – �e Conservation Trust of Puerto Rico owns this nature reserve in Fajardo.
