Welcome to the 7th Annual EmptyBowls Project, hosted by the FostoriaSenior high School Art Club. This is anexciting year because art students andcreative cuisine students have collaborat-ed in making bowls, mugs and chili forthe event. We have raised over $2900.00in the last 6 years for the Food Pantry andthe Sharing kitchen.
The concept of Empty Bowls began in1990 when a high school art teacher fromMichigan proposed class project of mak-ing ceramic bowls for a fund raiser.Guests were served a simple meal ofsoup and bread. In exchange for themeal, guests gave a minimum donation of$10.00 and were invited to keep the bowlas a reminder that there are always emp-ty bowls in the world. The money raised
was given to the local food bank. Formore information on Empty Bowls Pro-
ject visit; http://www.emptybowls.net.
This years Empty Bowls supper will beheld in the Fostoria Jr/Sr High Schoolcafeteria on Tuesday, October 15, 2013,from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. We will serve avariety of hearty soups and chili, breadand water generously donated by Camp-
bell Soup Company, Gordon Foods andCoca-Cola. All proceeds will benefit theFostoria Sharing Kitchen and the FoodPantry. We hope you will be able to par-take in this event and help us reach ourgoal of eight-hundred dollars.

Teachers have been asked to nominate
sophomore students with leadership skills
for the annual HOBY (Hugh OBrien
Leadership Conference) which is an all
expense paid weekend at Ohio Northern
in June of 2014. Any student who wasnominated was given an application and
is required to write an essay on a selected
topic. Teachers will judge the essays (no
names on them) and two winners will be
selected. In the past the Rotary Club and
Kiwanis Club have paid close to $600 for
our students to attend. Essays are due
Monday October 21.
Allen Schultz will be visiting FJHS in De-
cember to speak with our sophomores
about the programs offered at Sentinel Ca-

Sentinel are two year - half day programs.
Students attend Sentinel in either the morn-ing or afternoon and take the remainder of
their classes at their home school. One
program, Cosmetology, is a three year com-
mitment so students interested in cosmetol-

The Cosmetology department at Sentinel
will be setting up a display during lunch in
December, so interested freshman can get
information and ask question. Sophomores
