From the Pastor

Try this little quiz:

Name the five wealthiest people in the world.

Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.

Name the last five winners of the Miss America contest.

Name ten people who have won the Nobel Peace prize.

Name the last 6 Academy Award winners for best actor or actress.

Name the last ten World Series winners.

How did you do?

Now, try this quiz:

Name some teachers who helped you in school.

Name three friends who helped you through difficult times.

Name five people who taught you something worthwhile.

Name five people you enjoy spending time with.

Name six heroes whose stories have inspired you.

Easier? It’s the people who care for us, help us and touch our lives that matter most. Thank God for friends, teachers, and others that

have helped shape your life. Try being a blessing to someone else today by calling them and telling them what they mean to you.

See you Sunday as we enjoy our time in God’s Word together.

Youth Ministry

AFTER HOURS:

The youth will go bowling at Country Lanes in Natchitoches on Sunday, Aug.

31. We will leave after the evening church service. Students MUST ATTEND

the evening service in order to go on the trip. I will let you all know very

soon the cost per student to attend. Students can buy a meal or snacks at the

bowling alley. Please sign up with Colin if you intend to go.

5th QUARTER:

Our church will host a 5th Quarter following the first home football game on

Friday, Sept. 5. We will meet up in the café and gym for food, fellowship, a

devotional, and fun. Pizza and drinks will be provided free of charge.

THE NEW SUNDAY SCHOOL YEAR:

Students will move up into their new Sunday School classes on Sunday, Sept.

7. At that time, the youth will begin a new lesson series called Explore the

Bible: Student Edition. Over the course of the fall semester, we will study

through the book of Hebrews to further learn about the biblical portrait of the

exalted Christ as we strengthen our faith by making Jesus Christ the sole fo-

cus and priority in our lives.

SEE YOU AT THE POLE:

See You At The Pole will be on Wednesday, Sept. 24. This day is set aside as

a global day of student prayer where students meet at their school’s flagpole

before school starts to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school, and na-

tion to God in prayer. See You At The Pole is a student-initiated, student-

organized, and student-led event.

Our church will team with FBC Jonesboro the week of See You At The Pole

for two joint student rallies. More information on these events will be coming

soon.
