Read for 20 minutes.Find a nonfiction book. Record yourself reading. Try to read in phrases by reading several words in one scoop or breath before pausing. Review your video. Was your reading word by word like a robot or was it phrased and smooth. Did you pause at punctuation? Did you understand what you read?

1. One-pound equals 16 ounces. If you buy a bag of sugar that is 4 pounds, how many ounces does the bag weigh? If you use half a pound of sugar to bake a cake, how many ounces are remaining? If you go to the store and purchase 3 bags of sugar at 4 pounds each, what is the total number of ounces?2. One-kilogram (kg) equals 1000 grams (g). Lois wants to send a box of oranges to a friend by mail. The box cannot exceed 5kg. Each orange weighs 200 g. What’s the maximum number of oranges she can pack in the box to not exceed the weight limit? How many oranges can be sent in 3 packages?

Look back at your results from your paper airplane experiment. Which one of your airplanes flew the farthest? Did the mass of the paper have anything to do with this? What about the folding pattern? Which one of your airplanes stayed airborne the longest? Were there any other variables that could have been changed to effect the results? Make a change to your best airplane and test it again. Document your results and describe how the changes you made impacted flight time.

Show UP with a positive attitude or Cuddle UP at night with your favorite book or someone you love. Think about how you feel afterwards.

Jonathan Green is a SC artist known for his colorful paintings of Gullah life. Pattern and bright colors are elements of Art that Green uses often. Draw a picture of a person or place in your life. Color or paint your picture adding patterns and bright colors.
