REGISTRATION FOR 4-H SUMMER CAMP
BEGINS FEBRUARY 4!
Registration for camp will begin on February 4 at
the Lamar County 4-H office beginning at 8:00 a.m. Camp
spaces are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Camp for 5th and 6th graders will be held at
Fortson 4-H Center in Hampton from June 24-28, 2019.
The cost for camp is $375. The deposit needed is $75
(which is non-refundable after April 12, 2019).
Transportation to and from camp is provided.
Camp for 7th and 8th graders will be held at Jekyll
4-H Center on Jekyll Island June 10-14, 2019. The cost for
camp is $450. The deposit needed is $75 (which is non-
refundable after April 12, 2019). Transportation to and
from camp is provided.
Wilderness Challenge Camp will be held in
the mountains at Wahsega 4-H Center in Dahlonega July 1-
5, 2019 for 6th and 8th graders. The cost for camp is $380.
The deposit needed is $75 (which is non-refundable after
April 12, 2019). Transportation to and from camp is not
provided.
Senior Camp for 9th-12th graders will be held at
Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton May 27-31, 2019. The
cost for camp is $365. The deposit needed is $75 (which is
non-refundable after April 12, 2019). Transportation to and
from camp is provided.
Senior Extreme Camp will be held at the Frank
Fitch Pioneer Camp at Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton
June 10-14, 2019 for 9th – 12th graders that like “roughing
it” in the great outdoors! The cost for camp is $360. The
deposit needed is $75 (which is non-refundable after April
12, 2019). Transportation to and from camp is provided.
4-H MOVIE NIGHT!
Join us for at the 4-H
office for a movie on February 18
from 7:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. This
activity is limited to 10 students in
5th – 8th grades. Call the 4-H office

BINGO AT THE NURSING HOME
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2019
3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Lamar County 4-H will help with BINGO on
Wednesday, February 13 at the Heritage Inn Nursing Home
from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. If you are a 6th-8th grader, Ms.
Jackson will pick you up at LCMS
after school in the 4-H Bus. Parents
of 6th-8th graders must call the 4-H
Office to give their permission for
students to attend and reserve a seat
on the bus by Monday, February
11. Seats are LIMITED to 10
students. If you are an LCES or
LCCHS student, your parent will need to drop you off at
the Heritage Inn. If you are an LCES or LCCHS student
and would like to attend this activity, please call the 4-H
office and let Ms. Jackson know that you are coming so
that she will expect you. All students need to be picked up
at the Heritage Inn at 4:00 p.m. For more information,

SIGN-UP FOR PROJECT ACHIEVEMENT,
NOW!
Hey 4th, 5th and 6th grade 4-H’ers, sign-up for the
Project Achievement Public
Presentation Competition! The
competition is kinda like
“Literacy Days” at schools in
Lamar County. For the
competition, you must choose a
project category and give a short
“show and tell” report with
posters that lasts for 4 to 6 minutes. You will tell others
about your report at a 4-H competition at Mason Creek
Middle School in Douglas County on Saturday, March 23,
2019. Don’t worry about transportation, Lamar County 4-
H will get you there!

before Tuesday, February 5 to sign-up for one of over 60
projects! Make sure to have three project choices in mind
just in case your first choice is taken.

GEORGIA 4-H HORSE SHOW
Registration ends, March 8, 2019
Horse lovers that are registered members of the
Lamar County 4-H program can register to compete in the
Georgia 4-H State Horse
Show June 11-15, 2019.
Members must complete an
intent to show form at the
Lamar County 4-H office
before March 8, 2019. An
intent to show form must be
completed for every horse that
a member intends to show.
Contact the Lamar County 4-H office for additional details.
PROJECTS AND PIZZA! February 19, 2018

Fourth, fifth and sixth graders that registered for
the 2019 4-H Project Achievement Presentation
Competition are invited to the Lamar County 4-H office for
“Projects and Pizza”. Registered

Presentation students that attend the
February 14 practice with a
completed rough draft that has been
approved by Ms. Jackson will be
invited to attend this activity.

4-H IS SELLING SWEET VIDALIA ONIONS!
Lamar County 4-H is selling Vidalia Onions as a
fundraiser. We are selling 10 lb. bags for $10 each. All
orders must be pre-ordered and pre-
paid by Friday, April 12 at the
Lamar County Extension office.
Cash or checks are the accepted
forms of payment. Orders will be
delivered to the Lamar County 4-H
office in mid-May for pick-up. If
you are interested in purchasing onions, please call Ms.
Jackson at 770-358-5163.
JOIN THE 2019 POULTRY & EGG
SCIENCE TEAM If you are you looking to be part of an exciting 4-H
activity, join our 2019 Poultry & Egg
Science Team! At the team practices,
you will learn how to judge and handle
live chickens and grade eggs (like the
ones you see in the grocery store)! You
will also compete in a contest with
other 4-H’ers at the Henry County
Extension facility in McDonough on
May 4! Have your parents call the 4-H office by Friday,
February 20, 2019 if you would like to be a part of the
team. The team is limited to 13 4-H’ers in the 5th – 12th
grades. Practices will be held on Wednesdays from 3:30
p.m. – 4:30 p.m. on February 27; March 6, 13, 20, 27 and
April 3, 10 and 17. There will be a cost of $7 for a team t-
shirt.
MILKMAKE CONTEST, FEBRUARY 11!
The Lamar County 4-H Program will hold the
Georgia 4-H MilkMake contest on Monday, February 11
beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Lamar
County 4-H office. The contest is open to
5th -8th graders enrolled in the Lamar
County 4-H Program and calls for 4-H’ers
to make a drink using milk. The contest
will be in the format of a cooking show.
Entry forms and rules will be given to
those 4-H’ers that are interested in
participating. The contest is limited to ten 4-H’ers. Entries
will be accepted from January 11, 2019 – February 4, 2019.
We must have at least three entries to hold the contest.

JUNIOR RALLY, APRIL 28-29!
JUNIOR RALLY Deadline for early bird registration ends April 12, 2019
Junior Rally is a fun two-day trip to the mountains
at Wahsega 4-H Center in
Dahlonega for 6th – 8th graders
enrolled in the Lamar County
4-H program! The early bird
registration cost for the event is
$77 which includes food,
lodging and transportation.
After April 13, the cost will be
$82. Activities include a
dance, campfires with s’mores, ropes course and more!
Scholarships may be available.
Registration is now in progress and early bird
registration will end on April 12!
SENIOR CONFERENCE Deadline for early bird registration ends March 22, 2019
Senior Conference is an annual conference that
brings Senior 4-H’ers (9th – 12th graders) together from
around the state for a weekend of friends and fun! This
year, Senior Conference will be held April 6-7 at Rock
Eagle 4-H Center. The
early bird registration cost
for the event is $65 which
includes food, lodging and
transportation. After
March 29, the cost will be
$70. If space remains
after March 29, the cost
will be $75. Activities
include a motivational
speaker, share fair including college recruiters, semi-
formal/formal dance, an outdoor after-dance party
including inflatable obstacles and slides and more!
Scholarships may be available.

PROJECT ACHIEVEMENT PARTICIPANTS!
Congratulations to the 7th-12th grade 4-H’ers that
turned in portfolios for the 2019 Junior~Senior Project
Achievement Competition. The
competition will be held at Rock Eagle
4-H Center March 8 - 10. The 4-H
competitors are: Adam Molina, Alex
Molina, Talaijah Murphy and Cole
Wheeles.
