NEWS AND COMMENT

FINAL EDITION!This is the 220th printed Newsletter produced by the same team, typedorganized and posted by Fiona, laid out and sent to Graham by Mike,HR thanks them and their contributions for all their work over the last18 years or so. For a long time the Committee have been urging thatwe save costs by publishing it on the website, that will start nextmonth.

Direct savings like stamps, envelopes, printing and so on are importantand will result in membership fees not increasing for a few years. Butwhile we are doing this we set out to save a lot of time for thoseinvolved, to achieve this the content will be reduced by omitting thegossip and carachat sections, the clothing cupboard and the full trialsreport. A revised layout is being introduced which should provide allyou need to know, here is the info that will be available on the website(much of this is already there) – we will work out the best format butyou will still get all the essential information you need, andcontributions will still be welcome! We have discussed this manytimes before and there a few opinions have been given either for oragainst, but not many, if you have a strong view on this, we’re alwayspleased to hear from you.

COMMITTEE MEETING – 12TH February

Thanks to our regulars for attending, Dick, Ian, Mike, Adrian, Fionaand Graham K.

New VenueDick has managed to obtain a new bit of land at Kingsfold for 2 trialsper year. The current plan is to change to Kingsfold for April andAugust – we have to fit in with the dates that are available – so theplease see the dates sheet at the back of the Newsletter with theseupdates.

Training TrialsAs agreed previously we will run a training trial at Northlands in April– if we get a good turnout we will think about another one in June orlater in the year – these haven’t always been well attended but arehappy to run if we get the numbers.

KitWe have some new punches and everything else OK at the moment

Working PartyWe had planned a working party in March, however due to recentweather we think this should be postponed, there are some areas toclear especially at Mannings Heath, so will discuss again at AGM andmaybe schedule for drier times.

Any Other Business

West Sussex County Times – Ian has a contact who is willing to doa write up for Horsham Riders – so he will liaise – we’ll let you knowwhen published – you may even get your photo in the local press!

Newsletter – This will be the last monthly Newsletter sent out by post– as mentioned before all info will be on the website, seems sensiblein the current day and age with postage costs rising etc. We will stillwelcome contributions are keen to maintain the club atmosphere. Wehope to publish one colour edition at the end of each year to includeladder, photos, articles etc and a summary of the years’ trials.

Teams – Teams list will be on the website (but we will not includephone numbers) so please keep this Newsletter which has all details– if you need to contact a member of your team and have lost thenumbers, either give Adrian or Fiona a call and we’ll give you thenumber.

AGM – 16th April at Ian McCulloch’s house – if you plan to comeand don’t know where it is, please give Ian a call.

FEBRUARY TRIAL – Manning Heath

Thanks to Team Duggies for laying out in difficult conditions – luckilythe weather was good on the day and we had a good turnout with 42entries. Pete B was not so fortunate as he had a fall and injured histhigh, hope you’re better soon Pete – also unfortunate for Ian J whocouldn’t start due to carb float, he donated his entry fee to Riders forHealth, so thanks for that Ian.

Rich Ellis moved up to Whites and was quite far behind, but makes achange from winning the Blues – when will Tom join him? Mike Hydenalso now on whites did well to come 2nd (out of 3) but only 5 marksbehind Andy Dudman which must be good.

Nothing out of the ordinary on Blues – HR members – Tom H, followedby Tim and Graham K

On Yellows Mick Dunstan managed to pip John Yardley for 1st place,and good to see both Kieran and Gordon finishing the trial – with noinjuries this time.

Half way scores around 40 which is just about right.

Thanks to everyone who helped, the team and Adrian and Adam whohelped clear up – and as usual Adrian was busy encouraging newmembers to join teams!
