WHY MOSES?Moses is considered by many as one of the most central figures in the entire Old Testament. While that may be true, it’s not why we are learning about him on Street 2:52!
Through the story of Moses we learn many characteristics of God and also gain a deeper understanding of our own need for Christ. We learn:
•God is faithful to the covenant He made with Abraham
•God will not abandon His people
•God is powerful and unable to be thwarted
•God will continue to care for His people in the midst of doubt or grumbling
•God communicates with His people
•The history behind the Passover lamb, giving depth of understanding to Christ’s sacrifice as the final Passover lamb
•About our need for a savior when we measure our lives according to God’s law
•About patterns of sin and disobedience as well as faithfulness and godliness
•God equips His people to do His work
Kids on Street 2:52 will be exploring some of these themes as they journey through the story of Moses and the Exodus.
Their journey over the next five weeks will lead them right up to the parting of the Red Sea. The last rotation for this year will guide them through the next part of the Moses adventure: the Wilderness Wanderings.
We hope you all enjoy the adventure!

MEMORY VERSESWe encourage families to make scripture memorization a priority in their faith journey! Consider implementing an incentive program as a family to encourage your children in their memorization journey. This can be as simple as a sticker chart or even include prizes or special family activity rewards.

NOTE: This is the final rotation before we break for the summer!
PARENTS CORNERWe encourage you to join in the learning adventure! While we are excited for the journey kids will take at Street 2:52, we know that parents play the most influential role in their child’s faith. Take some time to get to know the story we’ll be studying during this rotation. Knowing the story will give you a peek at what your kids are learning and also help you take the learning journey into your home throughout the week. Who knows, maybe you’ll discover something fresh for yourself and hear God speaking in a new way. God’s word is for all generations!
READ THE STORY:Exodus 1-14Because the story of Moses is much longer than other passages studied on Street 2:52, children will be focusing on specific parts of the story at each workshop. After visiting all 8 workshops they will have gained a full picture of the story and had the opportunity to dig into why this story is considered the beginning of God working out His great rescue plan.
REFLECT & ASK YOURSELF:The following questions have been adapted from Anne Graham Lotz. Consider writing your reflections down as a way to focus your thoughts.
• List the Facts: What does the passage say? What is happening in the story? What is the context of the story - what happened before this story took place?
• Learn the Lessons: What does the passage mean? Who is God in this passage? How are His people responding? What is God trying to teach us?
• Listen to His Voice: What does the passage mean to you? What could you take away from this reading? How is God asking you to respond to His teaching?
• Live in Response: Pinpoint what God is saying to you from the passage. How will you respond? Write down an action that you will take.
WANT TO LEARN SOME MORE?There are many resources you can check out to learn more from this passage. Here are a few you may want to take advantage of:
CLICK HERE to search some Bible CommentariesCLICK HERE to visit Bible.OrgSimply enter your passage to the search bar and you can find Bible studies written by well known authors and theologians.
SEIZE THE MOMENT and take some time to ask your kids what they are learning at Street 2:52. Here are some discussion topics you could explore:
• Take some time to review. Your kids have learned about the Anointing of King David, Jesus’ Triumphal entry into Jerusalem and now about the first 14 chapters of Exodus. See if you can quiz them on what they remember. Alternatively, if you have several children in the program, have them quiz each other!
• What would it have been like for the Israelites to wait for God to free them from slavery? What is it like for us to wait for Jesus to free us from a world that still has the presence of sin?
• God used plagues to prove to the Egyptians that He was real. How can we know that God is real today?
• Practice the memory verse(s) together. Review the previous memory verses as well. (1 Samuel 16:7 and Luke 19:37-38)
QUESTIONS FOR THE CAR
DIG INTO GOD’s WORD AS A FAMILY
We are confident that after 5 weeks of studying the story of Moses & the Exodus at Street 2:52 your children are going to know the story VERY well! There are more stories that your family can read together to expand the learning experience. Use the next 5 weeks to read all about Joseph and discover why the Israelites ended up in Egypt!
You can find the story of Joseph in Genesis.Genesis 37: Joseph, the favorite son, is sold by his brothers into slavery.Genesis 39: Joseph and Potiphar’s wife.Genesis 40: Joseph, the cupbearer and the baker.Genesis 41: The Pharaoh’s dreams and Joseph in charge of Egypt.Genesis 42 - 44: Joseph’s brothers come to Egypt.Genesis 45: Joseph tells his brothers who he is.Genesis 46: Jacob goes to Egypt.Genesis 47: The famine in Egypt.Genesis 48: Joseph’s sons Manasseh and Ephraim.Genesis 49: Jacob blesses his sons and dies.Genesis 50: Joseph reassures his brothers and dies.
Bible Fact: The sons of Jacob and the two sons of Joseph create the 12 tribes of Israel!

HAVE A COOKING NIGHTLook up some traditional Jewish recipes online and cook them together as a family. Maybe you can make a completely Jewish meal, one simple dish or even a batch of Passover Haroseth. Use this time to talk about God’s presence with His people throughout the Old Testament.
Take time to share stories of God’s faithfulness to your own family too. Maybe this is through stories of your own or even stories from generations past.
EGYPTIAN SUN DRIED BRICKSCheck out this fun craft project. Maybe try to create some of the buildings you imagine the Israelites may have built for the Egyptians.
LEND A
HELPING HANDGod cared for His people when they were suffering in Egypt and sent Moses to help them on His behalf. Is there someone that you know who is suffering challenges in their life? Is there a way that you as a family could
show them God’s love?
Consider a service project as a family to care for someone in your life. Maybe bring over a meal, drop by for a visit, complete a chore or give a gift. Discuss as a family how you might serve and serve together as a family.
After you have lent a helping hand talk together about what the experience was like.
RICE KRISPIEPYRAMID
A fun twist on a traditionalsnack! Maybe kids could shapetheir own pyramid!
CODED MESSAGESWrite secret messages to each other by using Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphics. You could
use these messages to give encouragement, share scripture verses or even invite your kids to a family game night. Click on this idea to get an alphabet de-coding chart!
FAMILY PRAYER JARThe God who heard the prayers of His people in Egypt is still the same God who hears our prayers today. Here is a fun idea for encouraging family prayer time.
These resources are intended to enhance the learning experience for your kids. Some of the activities may also provide ideas on how to move from knowledge to personal application of Biblical teachings.

DESSERT NIGHTSunday, April 28th @ 7:30pm or Tuesday, May 7th @ 7:30pm
Want to know more about what your kids are learning at Street 2:52? Curious about how your role as a volunteer can really change a child’s life? Want to get involved but just haven’t had the chance to learn more? Join us at the church for one of our dessert nights to learn more about the ins and outs of the new children’s ministry at Zion. Evening will include a 40-50 minute presentation, an opportunity to ask questions, a chance to connect with others involved in the program and treats! Some of the topics we will cover include:
• Ministering to children within the context of church• An overview of the 8 year scope and sequence for a child journeying through Street
2:52: what they’ll learn, teaching strategies and weekly goals• Ways to enhance the experience: for kids, for families and for volunteers• The next year ahead
PLEASE RSVP ([email protected]) by April 26 or May 5th.
Curriculum Resource TeamWe are looking for 1-3 people to join a Curriculum Resource Team for Street 2:52. This is a behind the scenes volunteer opportunity with extreme flexibility and no minimum contribution required. Wondering if this would be of interest to you? Check and see if any of the following apply to you:
• You enjoy surfing the internet for ideas/resources• You have experience teaching children• When teaching kids in the past you have found yourself adjusting the provided

You can write lessons directed at a specific area of interest (Cooking, Drama, Games, etc) or choose a story of interest.
