One afternoon, as the kids were being

released from their classes to go

home, La’Trell came across an

interesting sight! A large brown

praying mantis sitting on a post in the

breezeway as if he was waiting on his

son or daughter. Mr. Mantis, who the

kids gathering around him called

“Jake”, was calm as a cucumber,

watching us with his large eyes as we

tried to resist the urge to touch him.

Jaleia, one of the students that spent

a lot of time with “Jake”, said about

the experience “I have only seen one

in the movie Kung Fu Panda. It is

really cool to see one in action, doing

its everyday routine.” All of the

students thought that he mantis was

cool, although weird.

Mr. Ted took a liking to “Jake” as

well. Interested to see what it would

do, Mr. Ted dangled his keys in front

of the insect. We all gasped when the

mantis climbed aboard.

I believe he might have

ridden home with Mr.

Ted if given the chance.

Oh, the things that

happen at Renzi!

1 egg

1/8 cup milk

2 teaspoons sugar

Dash cinnamon

2 slices bread or 1 hamburger bun

Directions:

Beat egg in microwavable bowl. Add milk, sugar, and

cinnamon. Beat to blend. Tear up bread into small pieces

and fold them into the egg mixture until they are wet and

soggy.

Microwave 1 minute. Check. If pudding is set, it is done. If

it is not set, microwave another minute.

The recipe is good for breakfast, snack, or dessert. To

change the flavor, substitute syrup or molasses instead of

sugar. Or use different spice, such as ginger or nutmeg.

You can serve with ice cream or whipped cream.

Mrs. Jnanne’s Monday

Microwave Cooking class is

always a Renzi favorite.

This session, she knocked it

out of the park by teaching

the kids how to make

microwave bread pudding.

The students enjoyed this

snack so much that the

Renzi Reader just HAD to

share the recipe.

Student Poll: Tatianna, Mackenzie M, Alex, Maddie

The newsletter class counted enough mini M&M’s to

fill half of a tall glass jar. Tuesday students were

asked to guess how many M&M’s they thought were

in the jar.

The prize: half of the jar of M&M’s will be given to

the student closest to the actual number—(a winner

from the younger classes and a winner from the

older classes.)

The number of M&Ms in the jar - 2,900

Winners: Abby Weeks (2,999) Lisa T. (2,000)

Jack and Beaux visited Renzi

during Pep! Class to teach the

children about animal shelters

and therapy dogs. The kids had

to come up with the many

scenarios of why a dog would

end up in a shelter and how to

care for them after adoption.

in—the majority of

Renzi students DO

like this Halloween

staple. While

visiting each

class, Mr. Jay

was very eager

to give us a

history lesson

on this sweet treat,

as well as a detailed

sketch. Turns out,

Mr. Jay makes his

own candy corn!

Flowers Are Like People

(Mr. Maurice’s Poetry Slam class) Lisa V., Ithzel, Mackenzie J.

Flowers are unique in a very special way

they need food and water every single day.

Like a flower people need food and water too

some flowers are red and some are blue

Surely as flowers are different colors so are we

flowers have feelings also wait just listen to me

We call it feeling blue when we’re down

and when flowers are sad they turn brown

When the sun comes up they feel happy

Why are vampires so easy to fool?
