Triple ‘G’ was thrilled that the fairies did so wonderfully that he quickly explained what had happened to the Tinkerville fairy dust. The group had only minutes to find the fairy dust so they participated in an exciting hunt for the fairy dust. Then, the fairies played a hilarious game of ‘A Fairy’s Life Charades’ and finished their projects from ‘Let’s Help Build Triple ‘G’s Garden. Overall, the fairies had a wonderful day!

‘Who Swiped the Tinkerville Fairy Dust?” (Ages 6-9, 7-10 Guest Electronic Version). Could be expanded to 20 guests by making ‘twin fairies.’

An enchanting fairy mystery for 7-10 children ages 6-10 set in the magical location of Tinkerville. This game can be expanded to up to 20 guests if you make the characters ‘twin fairies.’ Fairy dust is the heart of what makes things magical in the fairy town of Tinkerville but very few fairies are magical enough to make fairy dust and it takes a whole year to make a batch of it! Sparkles, the Tinkerville fairy dust maker, created the annual batch of fairy dust and placed it out on the Tinkerville Courtyard to dry. An hour later, she noticed that the fairy dust was missing! Sparkles instantly notified Mayor Fiona Feathers – the town of Tinkerville’s Mayor – who immediately called an emergency meeting of the town’s fairies. The fairies arrived at the Mayor’s office, munched on yummy drinks and snacks and created a beautiful new pair of fairy wings while they waited for the meeting to start. Then, the Mayor announced that Georgie the Garden Gnome, or Triple ‘G’ as he prefers to be called, had slipped a note for them under her door. He told the group that he knew what happened to the fairy dust, but that he wanted them to solve at least 6 of his 7 mysteries before he would tell them. Gnomes can be a tad mischievous at times! He explained that they didn’t have long before the fairy dust was gone forever. The fairies organized a search for Triple ‘G’s clues and worked together to solve the 7 mysteries. They took a few breaks during the investigation to eat a light but yummy dinner and play the ‘Movin’ the Gnomes Relay’, ‘Let’s Help Triple ‘G’ Build his Garden’, and the ‘What’s on my Head’ game. Then, all of the fairies turned in their best guesses of the 7 mysteries to the Mayor. The fairies kept their fingers crossed as the Mayor read their answers aloud to the group. Then, one by one, the fairies read the solutions to the 7 mysteries while they enjoyed cake and delicious hot chocolate! Triple ‘G’ was thrilled that the fairies did so wonderfully that he quickly explained what had happened to the Tinkerville fairy dust. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE HOST Thank you for purchasing the ‘Who Swiped the Tinkerville Fairy Dust’ game from mymysteryparty.com! This mystery is a light-hearted and entertaining mystery that allows the children to step into a different character while trying to solve the entertaining mysteries. The party can be a huge success as long as the guests relax and let the mystery unravel during each round. The party pack (this document) needs to be printed in advance of the party. Cut out the clues and stuff them into envelopes labeled with the appropriate round and character for each round of the party. The Scavenger hunt clues also need to be cut out and put into sealed envelopes (the envelopes are optional). It is optimal to choose different colored envelopes for each round. During the party, your job as the parent host (Mayor Feathers) is to ensure that the appropriate clues are hidden for the scavenger hunt and the envelopes are given to the guests at the appropriate times and most of all – make sure that you, your child and their guests are having a blast!! There are a couple of props you will need to collect in advance and plant at certain places and times during the party (see instructions each round for a prop list). Make sure to read the host instructions for each round prior to the party to ensure that you have everything in place for the big day! This mystery comes with 10 characters. Only 7 of these characters are required with 3 optional characters. If you do not have guests for the extra 3 optional characters, simply omit the clues of these guests and any references to these characters in other clues. Because this game is a scavenger hunt style mystery game, this game can easily be expanded to 20 guests by making ‘twin fairies’ and duplicating the characters. You can have the ‘twins’ share the clues each round or you can print off two copies of the clues so each guest can have their own set of clues to open. If you want to have unique characters added, contact us at [email protected] and we can accommodate your request for a $10.00 fee per additional character. Since you have elected to have this mystery sent to you electronically, simply copy this file out of the PDF, and transfer to any word processing program and delete the clues or references to the omitted character in the other characters’ clues before you print the mystery. You will need the full version of Adobe Acrobat to do cut and paste from the pdf file. We suggest that you upgrade to the newest version 8.1.1 to optimize your file viewing. If you forget to omit optional character clues /references before you print the mystery, discard the clue cards from the omitted character and mark out any clues referencing this character on the other characters’ clue cards. See the game instructions for each round to get a complete list of items that you will need in advance of the party. The final solution round has an optional charades game – this is the only thing you will need for this final round (to write the topics on slips of paper) – so if you would like to play along and keep the mysteries as surprises, do not read the round 3 clues until the party. You will need to hide an assortment of pixie sticks or a bag of sugar (fairy dust) as the finale for the guests to hunt at the conclusion of the game. Again: if you do not want to know the solutions, do not view the final round of clues. For a complete surprise, you can elect the pre-printed ‘party ready’ party pack option from the mymysteryparty.com site and we will send you the clues in sealed envelopes –‘ready to go’ (this is an additional charge). THE ROUNDS ARE DESIGNED AS FOLLOWS: The following is a suggestion on how to host your mystery, but it is only a suggestion, it can be played in any way that you prefer. PRE-GAME: these pre-game clues are to be delivered to each guest before the party or give them to the guests as they arrive. All pre-game clues are optional and do not alter the mystery, and are intended to enhance the pre-game build up for the event. These clues are not vital to solving the mystery. ROUND ONE: Deliver these clues as your guests arrive. Serve small snacks. Make sure the ‘Guest Instructions’ and the ‘List of Characters’ are available for your guests to read when they arrive. You can also take the time to review these materials with your guests before starting the game (suggested). You may need to help the younger guests read their clues throughout the game. ROUND TWO: Deliver these clues while you serve a light dinner to your guests. FINAL SOLUTION / ROUND THREE: Cake and hot chocolate should be served during this round as the guests read their final solutions. Hide any type of ‘fairy dust’ within your home for the kids to hunt for the finale. Depending on their age will depend on how challenging you should hide it.

Hello Fairies! I have some horrible news! Sparkles - the town fairy dust maker - created the annual batch of fairy dust and put it in the Tinkerville courtyard to dry. Within an hour, she noticed it was missing! It will take Sparkles another year to make another batch of fairy dust and the town of Tinkerville will lose all of its magic in the meantime! Oh no! We won’t be very good fairies without magic! So…I need each of you to meet in my office in Tinkerville Hall as soon as possible. We need to think of a way to find the missing fairy dust and fast!

ROUND ONE Welcome to Mayor Fiona Feather’s office! Parent Host Instructions: Decorate the party room with a fairy theme. Play fun music softly in the background and play a fairy themed movie (i.e. Fairy Tale: A True Story) on the television without sound. As the guests arrive, put on their name tags (page 38-39) with scotch tape. At this time, the ‘Fairy Wing Challenge’ can be played (see below). There are 7 mini mysteries to solve during this game. Round one will introduce each of these mysteries to the guests. First thing to do as the host – Mayor Feathers - (after the Fairy Wing Challenge) is to read the message #1 from Triple ‘G’ (below) to the group. Then, pass out the round one envelopes to each guest. There will be a mystery clue in each character’s round one clue card for each of the mysteries. For example, Binkersmell will have a clue for mystery one, Sparkles will have a clue for mystery two, and so on. Hand the round one envelopes to your guests to start the game. You should also give a copy of the ‘Fairy investigation sheet to each guest (page 19-28) with a writing utensil and give them time to write down all of the clues on their sheets as they’re collected. After the guests have read their round one clues (and have presented their fairy jokes to each other – you can allow them time to tell their jokes to the group one by one), then hand the first scavenger hunt clue to Binkersmell (page 17). In advance of the party, hide the remaining scavenger hunt clues (page 17-18) in the locations indicated on the clues. For example, the second clue gives instructions to hide it somewhere in the kitchen. You can make the decision ‘where’ to hide the clue within the kitchen that will be challenging enough for the ages of children at the party yet safe for the children to hunt. Hide the last scavenger hunt clue in the front walkway (note: during inclement weather, this can be hidden immediately in front of the door under a mat, etc.). The round two clues should be placed in the final hiding place as this will end round one and start round two. At the conclusion of the round, before the round two envelopes are opened, the optional game ‘Movin’ the Gnomes’ can be played.

Prop list: These are props / items needed for this round. Collect these items in advance and have them ready. • The round one clues in sealed envelopes and labeled with each character’s name. • The message #1 from Triple ‘G’ (see below). • The scavenger hunt clues should be cut out and put into sealed envelopes (envelopes are optional since they’re hidden

anyway. If you don’t use envelopes, attach curled ribbon on the clues so they are recognizable as clues and not normal house items.)

• If the Fairy Wing Challenge is played, the materials for the game are required (see below). • If the ‘Movin’ the Gnomes relay’ challenge is played, you will need the materials for this game (page 16). • The Fairy Investigation Sheets for each fairy (page 19-28).

OPTIONAL ACTIVITY AT THE BEGINNING OF ROUND ONE: The Fairy Wing Challenge The objective is to make the most beautiful fairy wings! Game Instructions: Have all of the craft items available on a table (listed below). Purchase sheets of white or cream colored card stock paper ~ 10” by 14” and cut out R and L wing shaped pieces. Using silver and gold pipe cleaners, attach the right and left wing pieces by punching a hole using a hole puncher and threading the pipe cleaner through each hole as in the example picture. Attach the right top to the left lower and vice versa. Make sure to twist the pipe cleaners in the middle so all four wing pieces stay together. When the guests arrive, allow them to create their own unique version of fairy wings using the materials listed below. Equipment needed: Enough white paper for 7-10 (~ 10” by 14”) fairy wings. Elmer’s glue. Non-toxic markers of all colors, assortment of sequins and rhinestones, aluminum foil, strips of ribbon, glitter, glitter pens/ markers, buttons and child safe scissors. Playing time is approximately 20 minutes. *Allow the wings to dry during the party and the guests should take them home.

ROUND ONE ROUND CLUES Cut out these clues and stuff them into envelopes that are labeled with the appropriate character’s name and the appropriate round. Handing out these envelopes begins round one.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITY AT THE CONCLUSION OF ROUND ONE: ‘Movin’ the Gnomes relay’ Objective Compete to determine which team can work together the best and complete the relay the fastest!

Rules Split the guests into two teams. For an even number – one fairy may participate in the relay twice (1st and last). A large area for a relay race is needed - preferably outside. Place 4 random items of any fairy style clothing (i.e. a pretty

clothing when they pass the finish line.

Also, instead of running back to the start/finish, try crab walking or walking on your hands! Equipment 2 mops and 2 balloons (have extra balloons available in case one pops!)

DAZZLEFLASH– ROUND ONE. Tell your fairy friends a joke! A fairy’s life is hard enough without some humor:

Question: Where should a 500 pound fairy go? Answer: On a diet!

ROUND TWO More Mystery Clues! Parent Host Instructions: At the conclusion of the scavenger hunt in round one, the guests were handed the round two envelopes. Before the guests open the envelopes, the ‘Let’s help with Triple ‘G’s garden’ game can be played. After this game is played (or even if it was not played), dinner can be served to the guests at this point in the game. After the garden game, allow the guests to open the envelopes. Allow for time to read these clues and write them on their Fairy investigation sheets before moving on to this round – you don’t want to information overload them! This is the investigation round where the guests will have to put all of the clues together for the 7 mysteries and put their best guess down for the solution to each mystery on the Fairy investigation sheets. Instruct the guests to share clues and try to guess on all of the 7 mysteries by using the clues from round one, the clues found in the scavenger hunt, and the clues found on the round two clue cards (below). When they are done, the Fairy investigations sheets should be handed in and scored by the parent host. At this time, the '‘What is on my head?’ game can be played.

Prop list: These are props needed for this round. Collect these items in advance and have them ready. • The clues for round two in sealed and labeled envelopes. • If the ‘Let’s help with Triple ‘G’s garden’ game is played, you will need to collect the items needed for this activity. • If the ‘What’s on my head?’ game is played, the cut out squares with tape affixed to the back of them are needed (page 33).

ROUND TWO CLUES - cutout and stuff into labeled envelopes, seal the envelopes and hide with the last scavenger hunt clue in R1. Allowing the guests to open these envelopes begins round two.

SHIMMER– ROUND TWO. Your mystery is number 7 Your next clue is: “My seed-eating customers love to frolic and splash water inside of me.”

ROUND TWO/THREE OPTIONAL ACTIVITY To be played at the beginning of round two and at the conclusion of round three. Let’s help build Triple ‘G’s garden! Objective: to create the most awesome flower pot and plant a beautiful flower inside of it! Game Instructions:

Take either small clay flower pots, plastic (empty) milk jugs, coffee cans (empty), waxed paper milk cartons (empty), or a small plastic beach pails. Make a couple of holes for drainage in the bottom of the container if there are not already holes present. If you use the milk jugs/cartons, cut off the top, leaving the bottom section intact. Allow the fairies to decorate the flower pot with the materials listed below. Then, allow for the pots to dry during the rest of round two before potting the plants. Come back to this activity at the conclusion of the game after the pots are dry. Once the pots have dried (reasonably), the fairies should carefully fill their ‘pot’ with potting soil, and plant a rose seed, or another quick-growing flower seed in the soil and water the soil. Instruct the fairies to water the pot plant daily, and make sure it gets enough sun. (These will go home with the guests.)

Equipment needed: A plastic milk jug [empty], milk carton, coffee can, or small plastic beach pail. (One for each guest.) Small colored plastic paper plates for the pots to sit on. (One for each guest.) Planting soil Stickers (fairy-style) Elmer’s glue. Sequins, buttons, aluminum foil, rhinestones, ribbon and any other craft materials that you want to offer. Activity time is approximately 10-15 minutes during round two and ten minutes at the conclusion of the game.

ROUND TWO OPTIONAL ACTIVITY To be played at the conclusion of round two. What’s on my head? Objective: to be the first one to correctly guess the ‘thing’ on your forehead and / or to not be the last one to figure out what ‘thing’ you’re wearing on your forehead! Game Instructions:

Print out the game sheet and cut out the squares. Affix tape to the back of each square and place a random ‘thing’ sheet onto their forehead. Do not show the fairies the ‘thing’ that is affixed to their forehead and make sure that there are not any mirrors or highly reflective surfaces in the party room during this game. When all of the guests have a sheet attached to their forehead, the game begins. The guests are allowed to ask each person one and only one ‘yes’ or ‘no’ question (i.e. ‘Am I big or small?’ or ‘Am I living?’) No lying is allowed – that would be cheating - so all guests being asked a question by another fairy must answer the questions truthfully.

The object is to figure out what ‘thing’ is on the sheet that is affixed to their forehead. If a fairy has asked every guest at the party a yes/no question and still cannot guess the ‘thing’ on their forehead, s/he may start the cycle over with the first person that they asked a yes/no question and continue until the fairy can correctly guess the ‘Fairy thing.’ There is one winner and one loser in this game. The winner is the first to

correctly guess the ‘Fairy thing’ and the loser is the last standing without a correct guess of the ‘thing’ on their forehead.

For a younger crowd, it might be optimal to allow the guests to sit in a circle and for one guest to stand up at a time and ask the group their yes/no question. This player can keep asking yes/no until she gets a ‘no’ and then she must sit down and the next fairy has a turn, and so on. This will keep it from being so chaotic. At any point when a fairy guesses and gets a wrong answer, she is out and must leave the circle. This will shorten the game time since you are going one child at a time. However, it can be played either way. Equipment needed: a printed copy of the game sheet (page 33). Playing time is approximately 10-15 minutes.

ROUND THREE– THE SOLUTIONS Answers to Georgie the Garden Gnome’s Mysteries! Parent Host Instructions: Ask the fairies to sit in a circle. Hand them their round 3 envelopes and serve hot chocolate and cake. Ask the optional fairies (i.e. Dazzleflash, Goldenmist, Blossom - if they are playing) to read their clues first (they were optional fairies so they don’t have solutions to the mysteries on their cards, but they still have a fairy joke to tell the group). Instruct the guests to read their fairy joke to the group and then the solution to the mystery. As the solutions are read, the host parent should reveal if anyone answered it correctly and if so, who did – and so on until all of the mystery solutions are read. Then, the final message from Triple ‘G’ should be read to the group – followed by an exciting hunt for the fairy dust (hidden by the host parent before the party.) Give the boundaries of the hunt to the guests before you start the hunt. This can be extended as far as the host parent feels it is safe to do so – i.e. backyard, neighborhood, etc.

Prop list: These are props needed for this round. Collect these items in advance and have them ready. • The round three solution cards put into sealed and labeled envelopes. • The message #2 from Triple ‘G’ (page 37). • If the charades challenge is played, you will need to write the charades’ topics on strips of paper and fold them. Put them into any

container you would like for the guests to draw them from. • You will also need some form of fairy dust (sugar or pixie sticks) for the finale fairy dust hunt. Hide the fairy dust in the home

before the message #2 from Triple ‘G’ is read to the group. Make it an obvious prize by attaching loads of ribbons to it.

ROUND THREE SOLUTION CARDS Cut these out and put them into envelopes labeled with the appropriate character’s name. Seal the envelopes. Handing out these envelopes signifies the beginning of the final solution round.

***Make sure the ‘fairy dust’ is hidden somewhere in your home before

you read the second message from Triple ‘G’!

SUGARWING– ROUND THREE. The answer to mystery 6 is: “I am Georgie the Gnome’s garden hose! I’m long and green and I’m reeled up when he isn’t using me so I’m out of the way!”

Tell a joke to you fairy friends: If you are an American before you go inside of a restroom, what are you after you go inside? Answer: European (say it slow).

ROUND THREE - OPTIONAL ACTIVITY A FAIRY’S LIFE CHARADE CHALLENGE Game objective: To earn a point by being the fairy that is first to guess the charade correctly! The winner is the fairy with the highest point total! Game instructions: One fairy draws a charade topic from a hat and acts it out for the other fairies. The first one to correctly guess the charade topic gets a point. The next fairy will draw a topic from the hat and act it out until one of the other fairies guesses it correctly and this will repeat until all of the topics are guessed correctly. The actor of the charade may not speak, point to an object, or acknowledge the other fairies until they give a correct guess. Either type or write the charade topics on equally sized pieces of paper fold them and put them inside of a hat or other container. The charade topics are as follows: Equipment needed: Paper, pen (or word processing program and printer), and a hat (or any container to hole the pieces of paper with the charade topics). Playing time ~30 minutes.
