Introduction to Facebook

Facebook is a well known social networking service and website launched in February 2004, which is operated and

privately owned by Facebook Inc.

Facebook’s History• The website was founded by Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin,

Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes in 2004.

• All founders were students at Harvard University.

• Membership was originally restricted to students of Harvard College, and within the first month, more than half the undergraduate population at Harvard was registered on the service.

• Facebook founders promoted the website. It became highly used by universities in the United states and gradually most universities in Canada.

• Day after day, the website became an interesting investment for entrepreneurs, Facebook became incorporated in mid 2004.

• In 2007, Microsoft announced that it had purchased a 1.6% share of Facebook for $240 million, giving Facebook a total implied value of around $15 billion.

• The latest news about Facebook state that In April 2012 Facebook bought the application Instagram for US$1 billion.

The People of Facebook

• Everyone is capable of using Facebook since it is very easy to use. People from different ages are able to log in and socialize.

• There has been a survey conducted to collect information regarding who uses Facebook.

• Almost 100% of the responses stated that teenagers are the most users of this social network.

Why Use Facebook?

• People use Facebook to fulfill two basic social needs:

• Facebook allows you post anything on your wall, so you can freely express thoughts and ideas.

• It is a more effective way of advertising.

Conclusion• To conclude, Facebook is one of the most famous

social networks.

• It is widely used by people of both genders and different ages.

• It is easy to use and it is a good way to remain socially interactive with friends and family.

• If we use it correctly, then we can avoid all the disadvantages that might occur if we are not careful enough.
