Evalua=on  of  White  Room  Photographs

When  I  was  taking  this  photograph  I  was  trying  to  capture  the  emo=on  on  Alicia's  face  and  I  think  that  I  have  achieved  this  you  can  clearly  see  a  placid  expression  as  she  is  is  smiling  but  it  is  not  a  ‘face  spliPng’  smile.    I  was  par=cularly  inspired  by  a  photograph  taken  by  Nathan  Benn  it  is  a  photograph  of  young  woman  about  30  years  old  with  a  paralleling  expression.  The  strengths  of  this  photograph  are  that  it  has  the  right  amount  of  light  this  really  brings  out  Alicia’s  eyes  which  really  stand  out  in  this  photograph  because  of  how  the  light  hits  them.  The  weaknesses  of  this  photo  is  that  I  is  a  bit  to  over  exposed  on  the  right  side  of  her  face  bleaching  out  some  detail.  I  am  quite  happy  with  the  composi=on  of  this  photograph  because  it  took  many  aAempts  to  take  it  but  there  is  room  for  improvement  as  I’ve  said  before  the  light  is  weighted  to  the  le.  side  of  her  face,  also  the  nega=ve  space  in  the  background  could  be  erased  by  taking  the  shot  from  a  different  angle.  The  photograph  is  a  close  up  from  a  normal  view-‐point  with  the  face  in  the  center  of  the  frame.  You  get  a  clear  view  of  the  subjects  face  also  it  gives  you  a  sense  that  you  are  face  to  face  with  this  person.  Parts  of  the  photograph  are  in  focus  but  some  are  not,  which  I  meant  to  do.  I  choose  not  to  edit  this  photograph  in  black  and  white  because  I  think  that  it  would  lose  its  sense  of  happiness  also  I  really  like  the  color  of  Alicia's  eyes  and  if  it  was  in  black  and  white  it  would  lose  the  brightness  of  them.  If  I  got  the  opportunity  to  retake  this  picture  I  would  change  the  ligh=ng  to  make  it  less  bright  and  make  sure  that  it  isn’t  over  or  under  exposed.  I  would  also  make  her  eyes  the  main  focus  of  the  photograph  as  I  think  that  they  are  really  nice.  Therefore  in  conclusion  I  obtained  the  visual  results  I  hoped  for  because  I  successfully  produced  a  photograph  that  showed  the  emo=on  on  someone's  face.  Even  though  it  could  be  improved  in  some  areas  overall  the  photograph  really  en=cing  and  is  pleasing  to  the  eye.
