LIMITATIONS
GENERAL - HGS is approved as a supplementary flight display only. - PFD must be used as a primary source of flight and guidance information for all phases of flight.
CAUTION
The HUD display will be lost in the event of a LH engine failure or LH generator failure, (GEN 1 light on ), if the slats are retracted when, or after, the failure occurs, unless an alternate power source has been selected.
- The pilot’s sun visor must be stowed during approaches and take-off. - FMS waypoint is for situational awareness and is not to be used for navigation.
TAKE-OFF - Use of ILS symbology is not authorized:
- Do not select the ILS frequency.
APPROACH - Use of HGS is not authorized for ILS approaches: the combiner must be stowed. - For NDB approaches, HUD may be used to supplement the EFIS: navigation aids must be
displayed in the EFIS.

CAUTION
If airplane is equipped with avionics COLLINS V6.0 (M1502) or V6.1 (M1649): Speed bugs are not displayed in the HUD for take-off. - Use of HUD is prohibited when VNAV is coupled with AP/FD, the combiner must be stowed. - If airplane is equipped with an E-GPWS (M1500), GND PROX Caution annunciation and PULL UP Warning annunciation are not displayed in the HUD.

GENERAL In the event of excessive or unusual attitude the PFD has been found to offer a more complete and intuitive attitude reference for recovery.
AIRPLANE EQUIPPED WITH 3 IRS FPV miscompare annunciation
FPV comparison annunciation in the Head Up Display. On the copilot side, perform an AHS reversion.
If FPV annunciation is removed: Continue to use the HUD.
If FPV annunciation is not removed: Delete the previous reversion and make an AHS reversion on the pilot side.
If FPV annunciation is removed: Continue to use the HUD.
If FPV annunciation is not removed: Delete the previous reversion and stow the combiner.

Perform an immediate missed approach procedure if insufficient visual references to make an unaided visual landing.
NOTE
Do not make any sensor reversion below 500 ft. A valid FPV is needed to continue the approach below 500 ft.

GENERAL - Pilot has to deploy the combiner, adjust the symbology brightness and seat position. - The Scales On display format should be used for all flight phases.
APPROACH - No data entry required on HUD Control Panel except SLOPE if desired.

CAUTION

The HUD is approved for the following uses, with the PFD available as the primary source of flight and guidance information: - Visual take-off, - En Route (including Climb and Descent), - Visual approaches, - Non ILS approaches, - Monitoring automatic ILS approaches, except monitoring Cat. II approaches when COLLINS
avionics V6.1 is installed. Additionally, the HUD has been demonstrated to meet the airworthiness criteria of AC 120–29 and AC 120–28C for manual ILS approaches.
NOTE
In order to avoid a nuisance display caused by the speed error tape symbol, do not press the Go-Around pushbutton at take-off.
GENERAL - Pilot has to deploy the combiner, adjust the symbology brightness and seat position. - The scales On display format should be used for all flight phases, except ILS approaches.
The scales Off display format may be selected at pilot’s discretion during ILS approach.
VISUAL AND NON ILS APPROACH - No parameters entry required. - Reference Glide slope and Localizer track may be useful.
CAT I ILS APPROACH - The following parameters have to be entered in the Head Up Control panel:
- Localizer track, in true entered manually with an accuracy of 0.1 degree, if known, or by confirming the default value computed by the system.
- Runway elevation. - Reference glideslope.

NOTE
- If an approach is interrupted after Glide Slope capture, the Go-Around pushbutton should be used in order to allow the display of the Flight Director when selecting other modes. - If during an approach the Go-Around pushbutton is inadvertently pressed, the pilot has to deselect and select again the ILS frequency then arm APPR mode in order to recover the whole CAT. III symbology.
GO-AROUND - If a touch and go is performed after an ILS approach, pilot must select GA in order to retrieve the
GA symbology.
NOTE
If the GA is not selected after a Touch and Go, the Flight Director in the HUD is not displayed after a selection of other modes.
CAT II MANUAL APPROACH Manual Cat II operations are predicated on the use of ILS facilities with performance and integrity equivalent to, or better than, a United States Type II ILS (i.e. ICAO Facility Performance Category II or Category III). NORMAL PROCEDURES
The HUD is approved for the following uses, with the PFD available as the primary source of flight and guidance information: - Visual take-off, - En Route (including Climb and Descent), - Visual approaches, - Non ILS approaches, - Monitoring automatic ILS approaches. Additionally, the HUD has been demonstrated to meet the airworthiness criteria of AC 120–29 and AC 120–28C for manual ILS approaches.
NOTE
In order to avoid a nuisance display caused by the speed error tape symbol, do not press the Go-Around pushbutton at take-off.
GENERAL - Pilot has to deploy the combiner, adjust the symbology brightness and seat position. - The scales On display format should be used for all flight phases, except ILS approaches.
The scales Off display format may be selected at pilot’s discretion during ILS approach.
VISUAL TAKE-OFF WITH ILS SYMBOLOGY DISPLAYED If the pilot wants to display the ILS symbology, he should apply the procedure :
Tune the ILS frequency on pilot's side, Select the inbound course of the localizer, On HCP, validate or enter the localizer track value, After alignment on the runway axis adjust if necessary the localizer track value (allow 30 seconds for symbology stabilization).
NOTE
The location and movement of the ILS symbology may vary from the true runway centerline. The ILS symbology has been found unsuitable for use as guidance or as a situational display for low visibility take-offs.
VISUAL AND NON ILS APPROACH - No parameters entry required. - Reference Glide slope and localizer track may be useful.

CAT I ILS APPROACH - The following parameters have to be entered in the Head Up Control panel:
- Localizer track, in true entered manually with an accuracy of 0.1 degree, if known, or by confirming the default value computed by the system.
- Runway elevation. - Reference glideslope.
NOTE
If an approach is interrupted after Glide Slope capture, the Go-Around pushbutton should be used in order to allow the display of the Flight Director when selecting other modes.
GO-AROUND - If a touch and go is performed after an ILS approach, pilot must select GA in order to retrieve the
GA symbology.
NOTE
If the GA is not selected after a Touch and Go, the Flight Director in the HUD is not displayed after a selection of other modes.

NORMAL PROCEDURES
The HGS is approved for the following uses, with the PFD available as the primary source of flight and guidance information: - Visual take-off, - En Route (including Climb and Descent), - Visual approaches, - Non ILS approaches, - Monitoring automatic ILS approaches. Additionally, the HUD has been demonstrated to meet the airworthiness criteria of AC 120–29 and AC 120–28C for manual ILS approaches.
GENERAL - Pilot has to deploy the combiner, adjust the symbology brightness and seat position. - The scales On display format should be used for all flight phases, except ILS approaches.
The scales Off display format may be selected at pilot’s discretion during ILS approach.
VISUAL TAKE-OFF WITH ILS SYMBOLOGY DISPLAYED If the pilot wants to display the ILS symbology, he should apply the procedure :
Tune the ILS frequency on pilot's side, Select the inbound course of the localizer, On HCP, validate or enter the localizer track value, After alignment on the runway axis adjust if necessary the localizer track value (allow 30 seconds for symbology stabilization).
NOTE
The location and movement of the ILS symbology may vary from the true runway centerline. The ILS symbology has been found unsuitable for use as guidance or as a situational display for low visibility take-offs.
VISUAL AND NON ILS APPROACH - No parameters entry required. - Reference Glide slope and localizer track may be useful.
CAT I ILS APPROACH - The following parameters have to be entered in the Head Up Control panel:
- Localizer track, in true entered manually with an accuracy of 0.1 degree, if known, or by confirming the default value computed by the system.
- Runway elevation. - Reference glideslope.
